"Nursing Yesterday and Today" is an exceptional example of a paper on care.
In the 21st century, there are associations that head all the nurses in a given state. The nurses in the 21st century are more skilled since they go through thorough training before practising. The leadership of the 19th and 21st century is different. This is because in the 19th century the leadership was less aggressive, while the leadership in the 21st century is more aggressive and politicized.

During the American Revolutionary war some of the women that acted like nurses include;

  1. Mary L H McCauley who used to carry water to men during the battlefield in Monmouth
  2. Ann Simpson David who was a messenger to his general when the army was in eastern Pennsylvania
  3. Sally Tompkins who ran a military hospital in Va
  4. Mary Walker who served as an assistant surgeon

The nursing leadership should characteristics of a skilled nurse and one should also have strategies that will help nurses to have power while within their job. There is a need to make a contribution to nursing history through carrying forward traits that are positive and leaving behind the negative factors to the nursing community.

Yes, it is important for nurses to be involved in professional organizations. This is because it will help in building their skills as well as giving back community service to the respective areas.

The education of a nurse who did a diploma 20 years ago is different from the education given today. This is because today people are taught more advances skills; in addition, due to the increasing number of new diseases, nurses today intensively trained compared to those trained 20 years ago (Whitehead et al., 2010).

During the Florence Nightingale era, she laid a base for professional nursing whose principles were summarized in the Notes on Nursing. It was evident that professional nursing was not fully practised during her time (Whitehead et al., 2010). How would you compare nursing leadership during your time and today? This would give me an overview of the changes that have taken place over the years in terms of nursing.

Most people think that nurses are just servants in the hospital who are obliged to feeding, washing the patients and general care. According to the most responses, most respondents underestimated the work that nurses do. Most do not recognize the wide variety of the work done by the nurses. Both genders were involved in answering the question and their answers were both alike. In conclusion, it is evident that people do not have the right picture of which nurses are in addition to what is their work. The influence of such a mentality is much brought about by the stereotype mind of the tradition nurse. This is because, in the past, nurses were thought to be people who take care of the sick. This was done through feeding, washing them and being them for them physically. Nevertheless, nurses work hand in hand with other medical practitioners to ensure that patients are being given the best health management. Thus, there as well have medical skills that help them in issuing prescribed drugs to the patients.
