"Home Death Among Elderly People" is a good example of a paper on care.
The majority of elderly people have the preference to die at home. However, the same number of the elderly is not granted their wish. There is a rising trend of elderly death in nursing homes or hospitals. Numerous countries have failed to develop frameworks that would require the effective participation of health systems to allow the elderly to die at home. Kolb (2013) points out that the trend could be forecasted by analyzing the increased number of nursing homes. The author further points out that the solutions to the problem could be easily developed by increasing the efficiency of social services and health institutions (Kolb, 2013).

The need by the elderly to seek care in elderly homes is prompted by the growing disregard of the family unit (Leishman, 2009). On most occasions, elderly people neglected and require occasional medical and home care. Nursing homes provide a perfect environment for neglected older adults. In the instance of near death, the elderly do not have relatives that may provide palliative care. In addition, relatives affected by not have the luxury to provide daily medical care. The trend results in increased deaths in nursing homes.

However, with proper coordination between the social services and health facilities the trend could be averted. Leishman (2009) is of the assumption that social services bear the greatest responsibility in ensuring that the elderly acquire palliative care at their place of preference. For instance, the increased number of nurses who can provide home-based care would be an exceptional strategy. Another failure from social services is based on poor coordination with relatives to transport a dying person to their home when approaching death (Jonathan et.al, 2013). This is regardless of the fact that the desire of the elderly is known. With the increase in the number of neglected elderly adults, social services have failed to grant the elderly the desire of home death.

As a nurse, I would develop necessary mechanisms that would increase the probability of granting my clients a home death. Firstly, developing and expanding domestic help would be appropriate. Through domestic help, an elderly person can be provided with home care such as the provision of food and basic hygiene. This minimizes the need to access an elderly home. While providing domestic services, it would be more efficient to use informal sources of support (Jonathan et.al, 2013). For instance, a relative to the elderly can be provided with monthly wages to provide home-based care.

The most important requirement to reverse the trend is the ability to provide palliative home care services (Jonathan et.al, 2013). Most elderly people seek the help of nursing homes due to the lack of quality of home palliative care. Home palliative care would require the participation of nurses in the process. I would provide to my clients a nurse that would provide palliative care at least once a day. The strategies would provide a perfect environment for ensuring the health policies are adhered to, and the client dies at the place of their desire.
