“ONLINE DATING DOES IT WORK OR NOT” (Your teacher’s due 1 Introduction Presently, online dating industry is very successful, not only on the basis of romance but also financially. It is earning a lot through internet by bringing together people from various businesses. Researchers concluded that in present economy in 2010, internet have become one of the most popular place for people to meet with each other. Large number of couples meet on internet and stay together forever, it have shown positive result on individuals.

Online dating effect the life of individuals in both negative and positive aspects. Therefore, it is essential that people should identify its effect on their habits, life, time and routine before engaging in online dating (Markus, Kassin and Fein, 2011). 1.2 Positive and negative aspects The traditional way of dating has been gradually replaced by online dating. It has become a revolution as it started and people adopted this technique very rapidly. Though online dating has become quite popular, but has affected people on both negative and positive aspects.

Positive aspects Online dating provides an opportunity to meet those people who can never come across in one’s life. People who are busy in their professional life cannot find a partner on their own. In this case online dating is the most suitable option. It provides a targeted audience to the people who are single and needs a partner. Many websites provides such facilities such as MySpace. People can easily know each other through online chats, sharing photos and videos. Negative aspects Online dating involves lot of risk.

Most of the people who meet online have aims other than dating. They mislead or use other person with a wrong intention. There is always a risk of meeting a dishonest person who uses this website only for scamming other person. They can also use other persons by asking for a financial help and later betraying them. People who involve in online relationship get addicted to it and forget everything in the world. They keep on sitting on pc whole day. This activity prohibits them from other essential work and also affects their health. 1.3 Does online dating work?

Online dating does work, it have provided an opportunity to people to get in a relationship, which they have been unable to pursue on their own. Research indicated that in US around 23% of couple meet through online dating and are living a successful life. Presently, most of the couples meet online rather than at work, churches, school, parties or bars. Online dating is mainly used by such population who lack potential to meet their partners. This mostly includes people at the age of thirty’s and forty’s.

Rate of emerging couples is increasing very rapidly due to this shift in phenomena. The data of women sexuality report identified that presently large number of women’s are in a relationship than before due to online dating. 1.4 Risk of online dating Online dating is also subjected to risk which should be taken into account. As a person meets other individuals online it can be subjected to fraud. People mostly show fake photos, interest, description or other dishonest mean to attract other person.

This involves risk in second step of online dating where people meet face to face with other person. They will have to ensure their safety both psychological and physical. It involves verification of a person because most of the information given by a person might be wrong. People make fake profiles and play games with other person in order to attract the opposite gender. These things can greatly affect the life and thinking of other person (Frost, 2008). 1.5 Effect on pro social development Online dating have provided many benefits to the society, it have made peoples life easier as compared to other traditional methods.

It helped in the development of society, by affecting their habits and thinking. In spite of these online dating is negatively affecting the pro social development. Many youths are using this thing in a negative aspect mainly it involves sexual harassment. It is adversely affecting peoples mind. On the other hand, it involves lot of risk to get engaged in a relationship through online dating. Therefore, one needs to take preventive measures and should be careful while doing dating online.
