A REPORT ON CHANGED DRIVER BEHAVIOUR IN RELATION TO SPEEDING DRIVERS IN DUBAI BY [ name of the author] A REPORT ON CHANGED DRIVER BEHAVIOUR IN RELATION TO SPEEDING DRIVERS IN DUBAI FROM [name of the organization] [author’s name] [date of fulfillment] THE REPORT Title of the topic area This paper is about the need of changing behaviour of the divers in Dubai, to lessen accidents. Abstract In this is paper, I am going to deal with the various reasons that leads to accidents on the road by the drivers of Dubai. It has been found that the government has been very cautious about all these accidents but there is no major change in the behaviour of the drivers. As the result the accidents are increasing. However there are many drivers who believe that a change in their attitude can stop all these accidents. In this paper the matter of concern is that change in the behaviour of these drivers of Dubai. Introduction In United Arab Emirates (UAE), driving is a matter of big concern. It is a very important section related to the working of social life, entertainment, educational and economic of the country. In this matter, the concern regarding the way is more specific. This paper is going to deal with the fact is that are related to most of the accidents in the way. Dubai is very prone to road accidents and that leads to lots of dates and injuries on the road (Ansari S, 2000). Hypotheses The following hypotheses will be used when carrying out research in relation to the behaviour of the drivers of Dubai – The causes of the accidents Report of the RTA Initiation of the Government Need to change the behaviour Tips to change the Behaviour Methodology Among various data collection methodologies that are used in collecting of information during research I am specifically concentrating on the aspect of personal investigations. My idea is to collect maximum information in order to get the actual picture. I am also trying to get the best out of all the average comments. I will be following both the qualitative and the quantitative methodologies. Quantitative methodologies are to collect the data in figures in relation to the fatal accidents. This includes interviews among others. As for the application of qualitative methodologies, I am collecting all the quality information in relation to the mishaps that cause on the roads of Dubai. I have done some surveys and met some people for the same. Methods to be used I am going for different methods of data collection in my research. These methods are inclusive of interviews, questionnaires, observations, and relevant records related to various types of behaviour related to the drivers of Dubai that led to many accidents. Interviews In this step I will present some statistics that I found in an interview. This interview spoke about the number of car accidents in the year 2007 which I read about Mr. AlZaabi. He is a police man. He said that the numbers of road car accidents last year are lower then before comparing with the year 2006. He mentioned that two hundred twenty nine people died in car accident last year from different nationals. Ms. Alzaabi said that the numbers of car accidents in this year become lower and it’s about six thousand and eighty hundred accidents. In this year 2006 were eight thousand are four hundred accidents and it’s big different between the two year’s. In addition, Mr. Al zaabi said that UAE has the biggest number of car accidents in the world (Klenk G, 2003). In fact, he spoke about the new planning reducing the number of car accidents. Also, he said that people must be a wear about the negative impact of car accidents on the person, his family and the whole society. He invited all people and ministries to share the role of advising all drivers. Also, he asked the drivers to follow the norms and the standard of the rules of driving their cars. In this interview we can see that statistics show some positive changes in drivers' behaviour. Questionnaire Questionnaire is a research instrument that consists of questions which help in information gathering. The purpose of questionnaire is to collect information correctly. It is prepared both in soft and in hard copy. I will give the soft copies to various categories of the society and will collect their answer as the basis of my research. Have you ever met accident on the road? Do you follow the traffic rules? How many traffic rules do you know? What are the precautions one should take while driving? What is your driving speed? a) On the Highway b) At Night in the city c) During daytime in the city Do you use mobile phones while driving? How many black points do you have? Do you think you are smart enough to manage yourself on the road? Observation I have done the observations by the means of the various accidents as happened on various points on the road. Dubai is a place, where most of the accidents caused due to poor driving and excessive increase in traffic density. Added today is these are the major cause of injury, disability and death (Krug E. Ed., 1999). I have found that the climatic condition is also a major factor related to all these causes regarding all these circumstances. It has been found that due to extreme hot weather and high humid conditions there is no other option than a profession are related to driving. It is the only suitable means of transportation In Dubai. As a result there is an excessive increase in the traffic density. This increase in traffic density has led to the road traffic crashes that have created a serious challenge. Data analytical methods I am following the record of Road traffic accidents (RTAs) that are tremendously increasing. I have discovered that this increase in RTA, is somewhere on the other hampering public in Bedouin Arabian Gulf countries. One of the major causes to all these circumstances is the discovery of oil around the middle of the last century. It has changed almost every aspect of lifestyle in United Arab Emirates (UAE), and especially in Dubai (2000). There is simultaneously and increased amount of vehicles on the roads. My speculations have found that there is no awareness among these drivers regarding the terms of technology, infrastructure and economic stability by driving these expensive cars. It is of an absolute careless driving that has been identified as the most important factor in RTAs over the period of study, accounting for over 35% of all incidents. Added to these factors there is the application of excessive speed that causes more of these accidents. Research population As are various investigations done by me, over the behaviour of the drivers in Dubai, it has been discovered that most of them are aggressive in driving. The government made some observations over these behaviours and driving offences. There are many recent data concerning RTAs and road user behaviour in UAE during last few years. The government of Dubai had undertaken various programs related to create a kind of cautiousness among the drivers (Bener A, 1994). The efforts include various demonstrations and media campaigns. There are also many programs related to public awareness and health education. Sampling I have taken few clusters of people for sampling. One cluster is of 10 people. I am trying to get various perspectives to check various ways to the accidents over the roads and to check the behaviour of the drivers the government has come up with the various rules and regulations. Some of these are of course getting huge success, however there are many which are yet to be followed by the driver for a kind of safe driving. I have found that the government has come up with something called ‘black points’. According to these ruled the black points are counted as per the behaviour of the drivers. The application of black points is very interesting. All these points get collected and accounted each time the driver makes a mistake. In the process that driver can’t have more than 24 points in the list of the people who are keeping an eye on them. As they crossed the 24 points limit they are own put in to the driving schools for proper training of the rules and regulations of the roads and are made to take the training course for obvious. Ethical considerations As per my investigations with the availability of petrol, almost everyone is driving on the road. Most of them are not even aware of the rules and regulations related to driving. There are many attends made by the government to make these people educate. The government brings up many rules and regulations in order to make these drivers understand the process and procedures for driving on the road. There is also a new rule for using mobile phone. According to this new rule the drivers can’t use mobiles in the car when they driving. It is a very good decision and it needs to be followed in order to prevent the accidents on the road. They use of mobile phones while driving is absolutely band, however the drivers are allowed to use the head phone for the emergency calls. The government is real it straight regarding all these rules. By following these rules and executing them in the best possible way there is the probability of making them helpful to make the drivers behave in much better way than what they are following now. As a matter of fact there are very few drivers who follow all the rules and regulations set by the government. Rest never follow any kind of rules and as such creates lots of chaotic situation on the road. Timescale/ research planning In order to enhance success in my research, I have well planned my schedule. I have taken into consideration the various comments and statements as has been made on the drivers of Dubai. According to a driving expert as told to the delegates at Gulf Traffic 2005, the driving behaviour must change in UAE a state of decrease in the deadly road accidents. There are some kinds of strict remarks made over the behaviour of the drivers in UAE, especially in Dubai. Unnus Theodore Hendrichs, Managing Director of Safe Driving, Switzerland, give a very prominent command over the topic. Hendrichs is of the view that the practice of driving needs lots of respect for others. It is such a profession that demands a great tolerating power for other people's mistakes. This is something which is missing absolutely in the driver’s of Dubai. They seem to not care about anybody’s mistake or fault. The drivers of Dubai need to change their behaviour regarding the maintenance of certain distance between vehicles. There is an emergence of thinking before initiating an exercise and should be a proper follow-up of indicating intentions that too very clearly. Dissemination and outcome This research will first of all be disseminated through a road inspection. Then will check the details from RTA. Later on I will be investigating over the main sources online that stand for a recovery of this major problem. Conclusion It is a real matter of threat to all the people of Dubai, as the drivers are not following the particular rules as has been set for them. It is equally dangerous for them and for the people who are on the road, either driving or walking. It is the need of the society to have better drivers on road who avoid accidents. The moral duty of the one who is driving is to follow all the rules so that he can prevent accidents from having. By this means he can have a better way of living in the society and people can have safer lives, free from hazards. REFERENCES Klenk G, Kovacks A.
