Based on current literature, implementing technological change is highly dependent on the human aspect of a business. Research has proven that in order to successfully implement and sustain this type of change, careful consideration should be given to employees in terms of how the change is communicated, and the vision, education, leadership and involvement of the end-user.Results of the study showed that all respondents welcomed the change in technology because it has many advantages over the conventional radiography technology.

However, the management of the different institutions highly diverged in the manner of implementing the change. Public sector managers were not supportive and did not spend as much effort, compared to the private sector, in communicating the change to their employees. They also did not involve the employees in the change process and did not provide training on the new technology. On the other hand, private sector managers involved the employees more in the planning for the change and trained them in the use of the equipment.

The failure of the public sector in making the necessary steps in change implementation resulted in shortcomings in the service that they provide to their patients and clients. The introduction of technology into the workplace has been known to significantly affect entire organizations; as such the steps are taken to implement and sustain technological change will play a major role in defining the outcomes of such a move.
