A critique according to your thought and deliberation Musi as an art, is one of the famous and most enternatining work in the artistic industry. Actually there are very many kinds of arts but music still surpass them as it entatains people more than any other visual art. Music apart from being one of the works that falls within the artistic industry, it also subdivided into various parts depending on the musical components used. There are musics that are intended to serve a certan purpose and it is from here that thery are categorised. Music as an art, involves the use of sounds and gestures if at all it is visual (Lowry, 56). There are very many components of music that have to be followed by artists to make it fit for presentation. Music is actually very important as it is mainly used to serve many purposes. There are many reasons as to why people like music and the questions comes, which kind of music and at what time. Music according to many authors, is one of the ways used in passing information to people. There are certain information that cannot be passed without attaracting attention of the audience hence music serves that duty (Mannheimer, 67). Music isa actually used in schools, health institutions and big restaurants or hotels. In schools, music has help in aiding students on understanding some of the concept of different subject matters as there are two classes of understandin g amoung students (Damschroder, 405). There are the first learners and the slow learners. For the slow learners, a concept have to be repeated more than one times to meet their understanding. There are many institutions where music is learnt being that music falls under arts. Maryland Institute College of Art, also known as the (MICA), is a college of art and design, located in Baltimore, Maryland in the United States of America. It was founded in the year 1826. During its founding, it was known as the Maryland Institute for Promotion of Mechanic Arts, which made it to become among the first and also oldest colleges of art in America. In the year 2008, the college was tied for position four in the country among fine arts master programs by the World Report and the United States News, and the Graphic Design Master of Fine Arts program took position six among the graduate schools for Graphic Design. Maryland Institute College of Art is also an AICAD (Association of Independent Colleges of Art and Design member. It also became a member of the NASAD (the National Association of Schools of Art and Design), and a consortium of 36 leading schools of art in America. The college is situated in the neighborhood of the Bolton Hill, along the Mount Royal Ave. It has a main campus which is located about one and a half miles from Baltimore’s business district. It hosts post-baccalaureate, pre-college, continuing studies, Bachelors of Fine Art programs and Masters of Fine Arts, together with the weekend young people’s studio art classes. One of the significant figures in the founding of the school was John H. B. Latrobe, a lawyer, writer and inventor. He was the son of Benjamin H. Latrobe, designer of the U.S. Capitol and the Baltimore’s National Shrine of the Assumption of Blessed Virgin Mary. The Athenaeum is the name that was given to the first home of the school. The home is found across the St. Paul Streets and Lexington Streets in Baltimore’s business district. It was damaged by fire that was caused by violence in the year 1835. Twelve years later in the year 1849, classes resumed in rented space in the Baltimore Post Office business district. The school moved to its own building from the Baltimore Post Office, established above the Center Market on the Baltimore Street in the year 1851. According to Falk, (212), during this time, the institute added a School of Chemistry, thanks partly to George Peabody, a philanthropist (whom the Peabody Institute is named after) and Thomas Swann, the B&O president, and a Music School. The night classes were also introduced for the men who used to work during the day and would like training in the fields of Architecture and Engineering at night. A women’s Day School for Design was established in the year 1854, which was among the first women’s art programs in the country. The men’s Day School was opened in the year 1860, and the Day school became co-ed in the year 1960, providing instruction in fine arts for both the men and women. For a period of about seventy nine years, the school was housed in the same place above the market, and the Great Hall, which was large enough to be able to accommodate around six thousand individuals, attracted, renowned lecturers and speakers. Nevertheless, we find that it did not only host shows and events that were related to art, but due to the fact that it was among the largest halls found in Baltimore, it hosted significant shows and events to the city as well as the entire region. The hall hosted Gen. Winfield Scott together with his rival Franklin Pierce’s Presidential Conventions in the year 1852, in which Franklin Pierce became the fourteenth President of America in the subsequent election. Turner, (87) states that the school served shortly as an arsenal for Union and also as a hospital for the military men who were injured in the Battle of Antietam in the American Civil War. President Abraham Lincoln, on April of the year 1864, presented a speech at a fair that was held in the Great Hall to assist the Union Soldiers. The Center Market building, on the month of February in the year was burned down along with about one thousand, five hundred other buildings in the Baltimore Business District in the Great Baltimore Fire. The classes were then moved temporarily to spaces above the covered markets in the town, whereas construction started in two locations. The Main Building’s future site was donated by Michael Jenkins, which was supposed to house the Art and design School, and the Baltimore City provided the site and finance for the rebuilding of the Center Market that housed the Drafting School. When it was opened, the main Building has sufficient spaces for metal working, free-hand drafting, pottery, wood carving and textile design, besides functioning as a library, show rooms and galleries. The galleries and show rooms were essential because during the construction time, Baltimore City still never had a public art museum (Opitz, 205). In the year 1923, the galleries of the Institute hosted the first popular showing of the work of Henri Matisse in America that was brought over by sisters Etta Cone and Claribel from Europe. The new Center Market building, in the year 1928, which is presently referred to as the Market Place building, is offering a course in the Aeronautics theory and drafting due to the rise in interest in the industry as a result of the flight of Lindbergh over the Atlantic Ocean (Raymond, 300). In the year 1959, the school officially changed its name to the present day Maryland Institute College of Art, and the Market Place building was demolished to create room or space for the Jones Falls Expressway. However, the Institution’s consolidation to the Mount Royal Campus is supplemented by the buying of the Mount Royal Station, which is a former train station for the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad, in the year 1964. In the year 1968, the Institution was forced to shut for the first time since its establishment following the 1968 riot in Baltimore that preceded the murder of Martin Luther King, Jr (Greenberg, (200). From 1972 to 1975, the Institution was graced with the presence of several popular critics and artists of the time, including poet Allen Ginsberg, composer John Cage, including composer John Cage, master printer Kenneth E. Tyler, art critic Clement Greenberg, painter Elaine de Kooning and photographer Walker Evans. In the subsequent years, the Institution expanded faster along the Mount Royal Avenue, whereby there was an addition of the College center (currently the Art Tech Center) in the year 1986, the Fox building and in the year 1990, the Main Building’s renovation. The Commons was added in the year 1991, the Meyerhoff House in the year 2002, the Bunting Center in the year 1998, the Brown Center in the year 2003, the Studio center in the year 2007, together with The Gateway in the year 2008. At that time, the Institution mainly focused on more interaction with the global or international world of art, providing study abroad programs as well as residences several nations around the world (Hayward & Shivers, 22). The Institute produced very famous and celebrated artist, such as William Henry Rinehart. He was a popular American sculptor. He was born near the Union Bridge in Maryland, where he started his schooling. He later joined the Maryland Institute College of Art in the year 1844, where he studies sculpture. He is considered to be the last significant United States sculptor to work in the classical style. Some of his greatest works include: The Atlanta (187), marble, Baltimore Museum of Art and The Bust of Mrs. William T. Walters (1862), marble, Waters Art Gallery, Baltimore, MD. Another important figure was Hans K. Schuler (born in 1874, and died in 1951), who was a German-born United States monument maker and sculptor. The themes and ideas that are touched in the film This is very important as this shows how relevant a film is for the recent time. Is it just for entertainment or is it momentous cinema? Is there a message that the moviemaker is trying to propel? Are there any other underlying themes linked with the film? The storyline and dialogue These two aspects provide a film a lot of the required sense. With no interesting dialogues, a very glowing made film can be a total tragedy. Secondly, an innovative storyline plays an important division in making the purpose or message of the film effective. Sets and Costumes Once more very vital to provide a feel to the film, although costumes and sets are regularly unnoticed by many, they can add tons of credible elements to a parched script.. Cinematography and Screenplay Undeniably, these are crucial factors of a film which need to be given the highest attention. Many questions regularly arise in mind when watching a film associated to the screenplay, is the speed of the film slow or fast? How is the camera lighting? Is it sufficient? Are there any exceptional effects used or techniques which are out of the norms of conventional movie making? Directors distinctive style and fingerprint Each moviemaker has his own mode and fashion of making a film. These can only be established after watching a few movies by the director. For instance “Alfred Hitchcock used bizarre camera zooms and angles constantly giving his thriller film so much more vigor. Stanly Kubrick could pause time in his movie during static long shots of a certain scene to make them more dramatic. Quentin Tarantino and Guy Richie possibly have the most original moviemaking styles that I have come across in English movies. Symbolism Watching for symbolism used to symbolize some ideas or topics from the theme. This could be a recurring object that the camera focuses on all during various scenes, or phrase or a word that is recurring. Always be careful not to find symbolism ubiquitously, a simple thing to do if you’re looking for sense where none is projected by the director. Conclusion Conversely, we must keep in mind “that movie analysis does not end when the movie is over. Logically, this is when it actually begins. Although, there are some people who feel that movie should not be analyzed at all, that it is “a demolisher of beauty, claiming that it destroys our love for the item under study”. According to this sight, it is superior to accept all art subjectively, instinctively, and emotionally so that our reaction is vibrant, full, and worm, uncluttered by the intelligence.
