Money, power, murders, war, witchcraft, prostitution are among the evils that the world experiences and the movie depict them clearly. The movie employs world building and character design to create an authentic and interesting entertainment genre. However, world building supercercedes character design and it exploits world building at the expense of character building. The complexity of the plot the span of the setting cannot allow character design and world building appears to the most suitable World Building and Character Design Introduction The report considers the significance of world building in combination with character design as the key issues to the genre attitudes of the game of thrones from 2011 to 2014. HBO was the original creators of the movie and George RR Martin being the author. The main importance of world building over character design is that it shows the expansive territories and it covers and distinctive characteristic of people in the kingdoms. For instance, the people in the north are different from those in the south and the Dead Sea. The Lannisters depict a different image from the Targaryens, and all this contribute to world building. These kingdoms have different tastes, and the habits are different (Bausnaum, 2012). These kingdoms have a different orientation of religion the fact that makes it different for them to fight for one cause. For instance, the people in the south, they worship the seven gods, father, mother maiden among others. On the other hand, the people in the north worship the old gods carved in the heart's trees. On the iron island, there is a brutal god, and it thrives on human sacrifice. There is a variety of gods hence exhibiting the presence of distinctive people hence contributing to world building. However, character design is evident from the way the director gives characteristics of the main characters. For instance, Khaleesi appears as a strong Targaryen, who vows to get what their parents lost. A strong queen and mother of three dragons, she ends up being feared and ruthless for those who ruthless to his throne (Martin, 2011). Purpose of the report The general purpose of the report is showing that the controllers of the TV show use both character design and world building when creating shows for the purpose of providing the audience respective entertaining experience. General purpose of the report The ultimate general purpose of the report is demonstrating that creators of the TV shows have both character design and world building aspects that are paramount in creating shows whose main purpose is providing exquisite entertainment to the audience. Applying the afore-mentioned features makes it possible for the characters to appear fascinating and the entire surrounding and environment conducive to provide quality entertainment. Creative limitations and possibilities when the genre got sponsor and screened on HBO It’s worth noting that movie production aims to reach all the audience irrespective of nationality, race and ethnicity.HBO is a TV owned by particular group of people and the action of the station sponsoring the movie” game of thrones” makes it as if it’s one of its properties. The other companies that would want to broadcast the movie will have difficulties airing out since the content will show HBO that is a violation of their principles. This shows that some people will benefit while others will not benefit as much (Patten, 2013). The sponsorship makes the TV have a close affiliation with that particular broadcasting company hence making it difficult for the other company to engage it. For instance, when HBO spearheads and sponsors the production, CNN, Aljazeera among other media houses will find it difficult to air out the movie since it contains content of their competitor. However, if the directors produced the movie independently, it will not cause confusion, and more media house will pay for the movie. Therefore, the sponsorships appear to be productive and efficient though, in the end, they contribute to reduced returns. The game of thrones is a series movie, it creates suspense, and the viewers will always want look for the other series to satisfy the suspense. Therefore, the sponsorship TV such as HBO will highly benefit due to the nature of the movie. The frequent series in the TV increases the chances of people watching the TV (Ryan, 2014). Specific purpose of the report This report aims to show how world building and character design are applicable in making game of thrones and appealing genre. The directors amplify world building at the expense of character design to ensure that the move is exemplary and appealing to the audience. There are many characters with a striking personality, but they cannot match world building. The authentic deserts prowled by Khaleesi and Waterfall are an illustration of uniqueness and authenticity of the movie. It means that context where the movie takes place is more striking in comparison to the characters. The report seeks to explore how the two supersede each other. The issues discussed and their significance Game of thrones is an exquisite movie that depicts creativity and authenticity in terms of production and setting. World building and character design extensively wonder in the movie. First, character design strikes the viewer when the likes of Khaleesi, Robert Baratheon, Catherine, John Snow among other characters in the text. Game of thrones is a show of leadership, treachery and sexual immorality, therefore, the director produces characters that have strong attributes hence making them desirable to the audience. For instance, Khaleesi is a young girl but she has attributes like that of a man making it possible for her to control the army that she buys using her dragons. Such traits make her the ideal character to be the mother queen of dragons (Cogman, 2011). Moreover, she sires with a strong man known as Drogo, who is also a strong man. The combination gives character of a royal blood that has ability to rule and make things happen. Moreover, Eddard Stark is another prominent character who plays a great role in ensuring that the movie takes another direction. He has strong men such as John Snow, Benjen Stark and Robb Stark, who are strong men of war. These characters make the show appealing and fascinating. However, world building is the most significant issue since it makes the show real and practical. The environment in Winterfell, Kings landing, the south and other of the Seven Kingdoms make the movie appealing and real. For instance, the environment in the north where the white walkers attack people is practically fascinating if not horrifying. Snow and wind exhibit the area, and the environment is not conducive for human occupation. However, John snow appears spearheading the war against the white walkers and wins under that particular environment. It is worth noting that the environment is not habitable for normal people, as well as the knights, '.However, the knight overcame and survived in that environment proves that they are tough just like the environment (Cogman, 2011). King's landing is a dangerous place where death and treachery hovers around. Eddard Stark leaves Winterfell and travels to kings landing so that he would act as the hand of the King. However, the place is dangerous, and death ultimately finds him (Hume, 2013). The king dies after an injury during hunting, and the hand of the king had to be the king before Joffrey becomes old enough to rule. However, the King disputes the will and heaps accusation of treason against Eddard Stark. Joffrey beheads him and assumes the throne. King's landing appears to be evil and death hovers around extensively. It is only the strong and cunning who survive in the palace. The unique nature of the kingdoms (the seven kingdoms) makes it an ideal for entertainment since unpredictable things happen in these places. Therefore, world building is crucial in building an appealing genre. HBO and TV genres supporting game of thrones HBO and other media houses play a great role in ensuring that game thrones take the best moves. The sponsorship includes giving relevant advice in terms of setting, characterization and theme. Being a media house, it has wide experience in movies, and it will give credible and relevant information to help the movie directors deliver quality journal to the views. The houses deliver the genre to the public and later get responses that they use to rectify the movie in the next episodes. For instance, season one of the games of thrones is entirely different from season three in terms of sound, themes among other vital characteristics of movies (Cogman, 2011). Therefore, the sponsor media are the experimentation laboratories that tests whether the movie is suitable and worth in the market. The feedback from the media houses such as HBO and NBC is crucial in rectifying areas that are not appealing to the viewers. Moreover, the media houses may work as marketing agents because they inform the public or the audience about the movie. For instance, HBO is critical to the development of the game of thrones in quality and marketability (Serwer, 2011). Genre design and game of thrones as a series Game of thrones has to be a series movie since the movie has complicated the plot. The organization of the movie is complex and therefore it would not be possible to highlight and discuss at a glance. Depiction of the seven kingdoms calls for a longer time, and, therefore, the movie has to be in episodes. Each season has ten episodes whereby each episode covers particular information. Character design and world building would not be possible in a glance and the episodes throughout the season make it possible to cover all the changes. For instance, the characters in beginning of the movie are the same who are in season two. Therefore, the serialization helps in the development of characters. For example, in the prior stages of the movie, Khaleesi is a simple young girl who faces the wrath of forced, marriage from his brother who claims that he will rule the world (Martin, 2011). The movie progress and Khaleesi develop to be a beautiful woman and suitors come to marry her, but they never prevail. However, Drogo manages to convince his brother and eventually marries her. These developments and changes would not be possible to show them in a glance and, therefore, the directors opted to formulate seasons and episodes. After some several episodes, Khaleesi develops to become a mother of dragons, and she vows to take the kingdom that belonged to her father. The gradual development involves life transformations that would not be possible without creating a series of episodes and seasons (Cogman, 2011). The seven kingdoms are far much apart, and they have different views on the king's landing. Some support the leadership of Robert Baratheon while others are against him. After the death of Robert, Joffrey takes over and becomes one of the worst kings ever. He kills at will, and this creates him enemies all over. The Starks vow to kill him gets the kings landing while the Lannisters want to protect the throne. These are complex issues it would not be possible to depict them a sitting (Martin, 2011). World building emphasized more than character building In the game of thrones, world building supersedes character design in pursuit of creating a genre that will entertain the audience. First, the director introduces the audience to the king's landing, and Robert is the king ruling the kingdom after killing the former king who conquered using the power of dragons. The portrayal of king's landing supersedes character designation hence concluding that world building is higher than the former (Ryan, 2014). The movie emphasizes on the north much and the other kingdoms than the kings or lords in charge of the areas. Many viewers will affirm that they know the north, but they do not know the leaders are ruling the area. Winterfell is a famous place where John Snow and Robb know as their home, but the people or leaders are not popular. The directors exploited building the world at the expense of designing the character. Research method The research involved evaluating the first three episodes in season three to ascertain whether world building has taken a greater emphasis compared to character design. The first episode starts with falling of autumn in the world and the inhabitants prepare for many years of snow and ice. However, the Westeros continue perishing under the menace of civil war. The expected king Renyl Baratheon dies through assassination hence altering the alliances in the war. Joffrey Baratheon, the cruel boy, wins the favor by securing alliance with the House Tyrell hence defeating his uncle Stannis in an epic battle (Shatto, 2012). As a result, Joffrey end up commanding largest army in the realm and his triumph is inevitable. On the other hand, King Robb Stark remains in the field and his home in the north is under the iron born occupation. Robb needs to know and take a good course of action with an overall victory. He vows to win the allegiance of the House Frey though he offended them through refusing to accept the marriage pact. King Robb is successful warrior because he wins every battle, and he engages. However, as in the case of old Robert, the Starks want to see whether good soldiers make good Kings. Stannis Baratheon lost the battle, but he feels that he must defeat Joffrey. Though many of his soldiers died, he retreats to the Dragon stone with the few surviving soldiers to ascertain whether he would go to the battle again (Hume, 2013). The three episodes clearly depict that world design supersedes character design and in such cases, it’s possible to exemplify the case. For instance, in the first, episode, the director depicts the supremacy of the king's landing whereby, there are mighty men of war protecting the crown. The soldiers in the king's landing have vowed to die protecting the crown, and it’s evident during the epic war between Stannis Baratheon and Joffrey Baratheon. The army belonging to Joffrey use advanced knowledge in the war through making a fire weapon that burned in the presence of water. Therefore, this illustrates the strength behind the leadership of Joffrey Baratheon. Stannis and his wife, the witch uses every form of magic to ensure that they get to the throne. His wife even gives birth to a demon that will help them to get the throne. This shows the extent people can go to ascend the throne. Magic is quite evident in the entire episode since the leaders heavily rely on it (Martin, 2011). The clothes worn by the people in the north and kings landing are similar, and it shows that the people share a common descent. For instance, the Stannis, the Starks and the Lannisters have common dressing code hence affirming a common descent. However, Khaleesi and her men are entirely different brand of people, and their dressing can tell. Most of them were slaves and therefore, costumes in the movie distinguish people of different descents and culture. However, character design in the three appears though dimly. The strong character of Robb Stark and John snow help the concerned parties to achieve success wherever they go. Robb Stark has won almost every battle while John spearheads the battle of the Knights. Their efforts are crucial, and such design of characters makes the movie fascinating and interesting. Moreover, Joffrey Baratheon portrayal as a cruel man makes him loathsome among the viewers while others love him. Therefore, character design appears although not vivid (Shatto, 2012). Limitation and assumptions Is not possible to undertake genre analysis of each episode of the game of thrones and, therefore, the assertions depend on the assumption that the other episodes follow the same pace. The study is a representation of the entire movie and; therefore, it is possible to get variation. The different seasons are distinctive in terms of setting and time and therefore the analysis might have some errors or bias. Discussion Game of thrones is among the movies that the world has received with loquacious applaud while others feels that it is an insult and lucid fiction. For instance, the seven kingdoms show the extended fiction, and it is not practical in the world today. The extended periods of winter up decade suffices the impracticality behind the fiction. If the winter would last for a decade, how would the people get food? It would be really difficult for people to survive. Therefore, the section was just a ludicrous assertion (Bausnaum, 2012). The director depicts the world as a place where evil reigns ranging from prostitution, murder, witchcraft, covetousness and incest. For an ideal entertainment show, it’s not appropriate to depict such evils. Moreover, sex appears to be the order of the day to the extent that brother and sisters engage in sexual immorality. Jeremy, Lannister, and Queen engage in sexual relationships to the extent of getting a child (Bellafante, 2011).Moreover, prostitution and rape are evident everywhere. Little finger has a brothel and teaches the prostitutes to mourn in pretense of sexual excitement. All these are atrocities that exist in the kingdom. Khaleesi, the mother of the dragons gets married through after her brother sells him just to get power., Drogo, the warlord, forces himself to her, and she learns that sex must be through force approach (Pantozzi, 2012) Frequent murders are among other atrocities castigated by the movie. Beheadings are frequent, and the most ludicrous and spiteful is the killing of Eddard Stark. The Lord dies through beading orders from the boy king by the name Joffrey Baratheon. Therefore, it’s evident that the movie has nothing good to give to the society (Ryan, 2014).In terms, world building, and the movie employs many features that work promotes the latter. The prurient exposure of naked women in the show depicts the nature of the world. For all the kingdoms, there only few that lacks such habits hence portraying the prevented nature of the people. Moreover, the buildings and civilization show the extent that people have developed in terms of knowledge, skills, life, and war. Discussion and analysis Game of thrones is a movie that employs world building at the expense character design.. The areas and kingdom are bold and grave compared to characters. The characters die, and leave, but the strategic theme and war remain static The world and characters are struggling. The characters seek to change the world while the events surrounding the hinder the characters from doing that. The prevalent evils cannot allow the characters to get to the point. Importance of world building compared to the character designing Word building creates a new picture for the viewer to know the world expansively. The viewer will know the varieties of people and their respective cultures hence making the viewing more authentic. For instance, comparing the seven kingdoms; the Targerians, Lannister, the northerners among other makes the viewer have a deeper understanding of the history and powers surrounding the leadership and kingship. For instance, the reign of the dragon era by the Khaleesi parents make it possible for the viewer to have broader understanding of the show (Hume, 2013). Character design Creating unique characters makes the movie interesting and authentic. The characters help the viewers to identify among themselves with that character hence creating greater audience. The directors in the movie depict unique characters that have exquisite ability. For instance, Khaleesi is the mother of dragons, and she is insensitive to fire. She hatches the dragon in the centre of flames of fire. For a normal, show the move appears extraordinary. Therefore, the directors portray Khaleesi as a unique character (character design) who moves beyond the expectations to get whatever her parents lost. Being the mother of dragon, she commands them to conquer through spiting fire and, therefore, defeating the enemies. Khaleesi is a character who makes the movie unique and makes people to expect the worst (Bellafante, 2011). Conclusion Game of thrones is an epic movie that eludes the history of England. Written under the influence of the author by the name George RR Martin, it seeks to depict the world and its evils in a broad verisimilitude. The evils and atrocities in the society elude the past England society. The directors serialized the movie to cover the complex plot ranging from the northern to the south. Moreover, world design takes the upper hand in comparison to the character design. The characters die, but the theme of the movie still persists. This shows that world building (portraying the world in a superior way in relation to the character) supersedes character design. References Bausnaum, E. (2012.). The Aristocrats - The New Yorker.
