Therefore, many events and exhibitions are organized for the sole purpose of advancing visual and creative design. Australia has been among the countries that host most of artistic events across the world (Mina and George, 2007). One of the events is the curvy conventions that were started in 2003 (The Curvy, 2015). The following essay intends to analyze curvy exhibitions but with more focus on the 2015 CURVY Creative Women’s Exhibition Conference held in September 2015. The report will emphasize the role played by the exhibitions in advancing artwork and promoting emerging female artists. Overview of the Curvy Exhibitions The curvy exhibition is one of the famous events in Sydney Australia that that show varying collections of artwork (Mina and George, 2007). Curvy convention seeks to celebrate and size women only from Australia but across the world. Since its inception in 2003, the curvy exhibition has grown to become a renowned in the station in empowering and promoting the most inspiring and determined female artists in world’s creative industry (The Curvy, 2015). The event takes place for a couple of days, which also involves invigorating speakers who motivate participants from various backgrounds and interests. Some of the famous artists who have been involved in the curvy exhibitions include Naomi Shepherd, Jess Scully, Elle Glass, Desert Designers, and Katie Rigg-Smith among others. The main purpose of the curvy exhibitions is to celebrate women with fuller figures in the society. The event acts as fabulous experience for the participants and artists to show what they have to offer to meet the theme in a particular event (The Curvy, 2015). Additionally, it is important to note that curvy exhibition is held every year since 2003. The event also provides an opportunity for shoppers to come and buy or explore artwork exhibited by various artists. For this reason, there are many designers, e-tailors, workshops, brands, beauty treatments, retailers, and much more available in the event. The emerging artists including their international contemporaries are as well celebrated in the event. The main theme of the curvy exhibition is to show the prevailing harmony and connection of artwork (The Curvy, 2015). Despite the presence and exhibit of different artwork from various artists, the common interest is to show that visual and creative artwork is meant to bring people together and embrace the diversity in the society. It also means that art can be used to educate the public and let people understand their environment much better. In addition, the involvement of different cultures helps the participants in learning various technics of artwork such as fashion. Brief History of the Curvy Exhibition as a Creative Art Event As noted above, curvy exhibitions started back in 2003. Initially, the event began as an annual book and exhibition series in Sydney Australia and has now grown to hit around the globe (The Curvy, 2015). Therefore many countries that collaborate in the event which include Australia, Ecuador, Serbia, Indonesia, Brazil, Norway, Mexico, Israel, France, USA, Malta, Japan ,UK, and among others. Based on the event, many upcoming female artists have benefited from the exhibition that gives them exposure to the industry, especially learning from the experienced artists. Over the years, curvy has been presenting a selection of some of the most exciting artwork from the female graphic artists as well as illustrators from across the world (The Curvy, 2015). Statistics indicates that in every single year, over 100 next generation underground and established artists are featured book, covering more than 40 countries. Around the globe, the book containing creative artists continue to be the best seeking. Every new edition of the book ensures that there is the build-up of the previous years, and the next category of the female artists who are ready to break the boundaries are introduced. There are some female artists involved to exhibit their work including Desert Designs, Nanami Cow dry, Autumn Whitehurst, Edwina White, Emma Leonard, Gemma O’Brien, Bec Winnel, and Mel Stringer among others. The event was held at Ambush Gallery, Level 3 Central Park (The Curvy, 2015). The admission to the 2015 CURVY Creative Women’s Exhibition Conference was free. Further, it must be underlined that the curvy events and initiatives seek to target the curvy women by raising their self-esteem through art. Therefore, any event organized by the organization is meant to capture the aspect of curvy bodies of women. It offers artists a platform through which they can provide solutions to many people who are curvy in the society. All artists and designers from various parts of the world are invited to participants in the event. The 2015 CURVY Creative Women’s Exhibition Conference also provides opportunities for shoppers of artistic products that are exhibited. The event attracted many artists, both locally and internationally. Therefore, it has led to the increase in the plus size fashion products not only in Australia but also in many parts of the world especially from those countries represented in the event. In this connection, The 2015 CURVY Creative Women’s Exhibition Conference acts as an avenue of not only sharing about fashion but also talk about the business of plus size fashion (The Curvy, 2015). During the summer heat, one can choose to wear the lighter variety and heavy ones in fall or winter. Personal Experience in the 2015 CURVY Creative Women’s Exhibition Conference Despite that, the good performances in the conference and the training from workshops were instrumental in helping an upcoming artist, what was exhilarating was the venue at which the event was held. As indicated above, the 2015 CURVY Creative Women’s Exhibition Conference took place at the Award-winning Ambush Gallery, Central Park (The Curvy, 2015). The ambush Gallery is the renowned architectural symbol of the urban contemporary art. The venue has been hailed as one of the best platforms that Australian artists prefer in showcasing their work. The Australian ambush Gallery has produced over 100 on-site events and exhibitions from Waterloo and more than 30 public activations throughout Australia (The Curvy, 2015). The venue has also been instrumental in spearheading some cultural and artistic firsts in Australia. Therefore, acting as the venue for the 2015 CURVY Creative Women’s Exhibition Conference provided an opportunity to experience the facility from the inside. The artwork present in the architectural design of the ambush Gallery is mind boggling for the young and upcoming artists or creative designers (Sterly, 2015). Space for the event consisted of the entire length of the third floor including the two large galleries and another small one. Further, the conference room is spacious enough for big international events such as the CURVY Creative Women’s Exhibition. The Australian ambush Gallery also has big studios for recording where artists can do their work as well as a viewing room for digital arts (Sterly, 2015). Finally, the venue includes workspace where the public can access the proceedings with hot desk, free Wi-Fi and lounges (Sterly, 2015). The Central Park’s ambush Gallery was opened in March 2015. The venue is now nicknamed the “The Living Mall”, depicting the vibrant and inspiring lifespan of the gallery. Conclusion As noted above, Curvy exhibition is one of the famous events in Sydney Australia that showing varying collections of artwork. The beginning of Curvy convention sought to celebrate plus-size women, not only from Australia but also across the globe. Since it is the inception, curvy has played a critical role in uplifting the artistic work of many young and emerging artists. There have been many exhibitions and events held to raise the self-esteem of the curved women in the world, the most current being the 2015 CURVY Creative Women’s Exhibition Conference. As indicated, many artists got the opportunity to showcase their work including the models. At the same time, designers of plus-size fashion accessories came with their brands to convince the panel and participants that they had the best for the event.
