Proposal of Entrepreneurship in Oman’s Higher Academic Institutions Organization Student’s Name Course – Business Professor Date Introduction Entrepreneurship spirit cultivates different business dimensions among the global students in various fields of study. This research proposal explores the entrepreneurial approaches in higher academic institutions of Sultanate of Oman. The paper also pools together different theoretical frameworks discussing entrepreneurship in academic institutions. According to Almutairi (2013) proposal as a report that contains several sections as it is in this article. The subtitles in this proposal seek to classify the main research paper into understandable sections. The structures of this research proposal are in the following manner. The first part of the proposal constitute introduction. The second part of the proposal is background that discusses the following. The importance of entrepreneurship subjects in higher academic institutions. Secondly, various theoretical approaches concerning entrepreneurship and their evolutions explored in academic institutions. Thirdly, the impact of entrepreneurship approaches on modern society in advent of new technologies and unpredictable consumers’ changes. Finally, the paper addresses the importance of educating students concerning the entrepreneurial skills, and ways of developing new entrepreneurial approaches that fit the current Sultanate of Oman market structure; educating current generation for future benefits. Rationale is the third part of the paper that constitutes a number of questions that research paper seeks to answer. Data collection method used as the fourth part of the proposal, and the report concludes with significance and conclusion of the paper. Background In definition, entrepreneur is a creative and innovative person who generates new business ideas by realizing, creating and exploiting opportunities in the business arena. According to Sohail, and Delin (2013) an entrepreneur look for customers’ behaviors and market changes, and explores the opportunities inside the market and innovates accordingly. Nationally and regionally, entrepreneurship has become the knowledge of the economy for it elevates business systems using innovative techniques to high levels. In other words, entrepreneurship is the major source of the country’s income, global competitiveness and developmental of business arena in various regions. In recent times, Omani government through the ministry of labor and education, has been making vigorous efforts to train young minds about entrepreneurship as a way of bridfging the widening gap between the poor and the rich. More importantly, the government has been articulating business laws as an avenue of improving the business environment for the upcoming entrepreneurs in the region. Sohail, and Delin (2013) point out that, the Oman improved economic growth rate and reduced unemployment rate stimulates the academic sector to motivate students to venture into the business. In his study, Al-Abri (2011) fund that, entrepreneurial activities boost and foster country’s economic growth though innovation, generation of new business ideas and spilling over the business related knowledge within the country. Almutairi (2013) also purports that, global governments value policies that promote business startups such as entrepreneur training, education and reformed capital markets to enhance domestic economic growth. In this aspect, the rise of business opportunities In Oman are results of great deals that the government has been creating with academic institutions and business professionals; to train entrepreneurship skills to young people. Therefore, entrepreneurial education especially research has become the cornerstone of the country’s economic backbone. Oman government also creates business opportunities for trained students to apply theories taught in institutions concerning the entrepreneurship (Almutairi, 2013). Moreover, students from Oman are eager to acquire entrepreneurial skills, knowledge and training form the Oman Universities; the government is eager to support the entrepreneurial students across the country. Additionally, the government has been supporting publishers to print more books concerning entrepreneurial education Hudzik (2014) The primary purpose of having young entrepreneurs in the country is to develop business and other forms of commerce. Globally, entrepreneurship has become the center of the global economy and has become of the great importance in the academic institutions. Sultanate of Oman is one of the developing nations in the Middle East that roots entrepreneurship as the main driver of the national government (Hudzik, 2014). In this aspect, the government has been investing heavily in the higher academic institutions as way of equipping the emerging generation with entrepreneurial skills. High rate of unemployment among the graduates, increasing population and rising technological opportunities are major drivers that have been enhancing the entrepreneurship in the region. Additionally, the increasing interests of studying entrepreneurship in Sultanate of Oman higher academic institutions can be clearly seen through the development of academic infrastructures that facilities massive students taking the business related courses (Sohail, and Delin, 2013). The increasing and alarming rate of unemployment in Oman has been the major stimulator of the emergence of various business courses based in different industries including entrepreneurship. In modern times, the number of researchers concerning entrepreneur in universities and other higher market institutions has been developing and adopting various approaches. In this aspect, entrepreneurship theories and practices have been undergoing evolution due to increased and alarming globalization impacts on the global business arena. Business scholars have been organizing scholarly editions in consideration of the new entrepreneurship approaches and applications in various fields of business studies. The work of Al-Mahdy and Sywelem (2016) strongly supports and has a significant influence concerning entrepreneurial theory in higher academic institutions. The various approaches concerning entrepreneurship in universities have been evolving over the years. Al-Abri (2011) suggests that generic social evolutionary in business has been contributing and influencing the development and contributions in entrepreneurial business studies in universities. However, in spite of development and evolution in entrepreneurship field, the establishment of the concrete and acceptable approach to entrepreneurial theory remains unsolved. In this aspect, higher educational institutions play vital role in providing the required entrepreneurship knowledge, training and technical support to the current generation in the attempt of molding and bring up potential and innovative businesspersons. Al-Mahdy and Sywelem (2016) states that entrepreneurial education and training in Oman has become essential for it has been diversifying and building independent candidates with a capacity of innovating; not relying on employment but become self-employed. From this perspective, the reason of having business related training and education in academic institutions is to encourage the young generation to tap economic opportunities rising from globalization. For instance, The Oman Universities and other higher educational institutions have set up an entrepreneurship-related clubs for actively promote and advance tenets of entrepreneurship in Oman. At the same time, The Ministry of Higher Education and Ministry of Labor has been playing the vital role to ensure that young entrepreneurs from college are secure and comfortable to run their businesses; the government ministries finance entrepreneurial education and offer low-interest loans to the graduating students (Hudzik, 2014). According to Hudzik (2014) for entrepreneurship to be effective, the government must start training the young citizens when they are still young. In this aspect, the Oman government should emphasize on teaching methodologies, which are realistic and applicable; with an ability to produce entrepreneurs. Al-Abri (2010) adds that the entrepreneurial skills should be simple but unique such that the students have the capacity to understand the growing business opportunities in the around them. Unlike in the past, in modern times, Oman higher education institutes are no longer training or producing job seekers students but people with an ability to exploit business opportunities around them. Therefore, the government through the ministry of education is focusing much on providing job makers rather than job seekers. Al-Mahdy and Sywelem (2016) purports that, Oman education sector should have a greater understanding of the current business arena to design training programs that will improve and generate practical entrepreneurial education. From the students’ perspective, it is time for Oman youths to take entrepreneurial skills and training seriously. In spite of the government investing heavily in training programs, massive students graduating from business institutions are still seeking for jobs instead of exploiting available opportunities for business ventures abound in the country. Knudsen (2012) purports developing nations want their citizens to flourish in business. Oman continues to collaborate with corporate organizations and academic institutions in advancing job-making culture in the country. The government of Oman has been creating adaptable business and friendly environment by lending cheap interested loans, scholarship help for higher education to boom and inspire future young entrepreneurs. AL-Hinai (2013) states that, a country that fosters entrepreneurial minds through school systems have higher chances of growing economically and decrease the unemployment rate. In this aspect, Oman can boost its economy by stimulating and encouraging budding entrepreneurs in higher academic institutions. For instance, Sultan Qaboos University has been collaborating with OCC (Oman Oil Company), to foster generation and production of potential entrepreneurship students; the University benefits more than 400 students pursuing entrepreneurial skills and training. Therefore, students should be ready and available to execute the acquired skills, knowledge and training from the academic institutions. Rationale This research paper seeks to answer the following questions What are the benefits of having entrepreneurial classes in Oman higher education institutions? What are common entrepreneurial models applicable to Oman Universities? What impacts do entrepreneurial students have on Oman labor market? How are Oman Business schools doing to enhance and fulfill entrepreneurial students’ expectations and perceptions? What are the roles the government is playing to boost and improve quality production of entrepreneurial skills in Omen? Data Collection Methodology Data collection methodology is a critical step of a research paper for it shows the different techniques that the writer had used to answer the research question. Research methods demonstrate the work plan of the author to bring understanding to the reader by generating various ideologies from different sources concerning the topic. In this case, the writer will use quantitative research method in the collection of the data required to answer the research questions. The design of the paper is pooling various theoretical frameworks articulated by several authors concerning the entrepreneurial skills and training in higher education institutions. Secondary resources are more reliable than primary resources because they constitute academic ideologies, proven to be applicable and realistic. Additionally, secondary resources are readily available and profitable. Moreover, quantitative research methodology is most effective and widely accepted in the academic arena for it assimilates different perspectives of various scholars and, quantitative approach focuses much on the human phenomenon (Al’Abri., 2011). However, secondary resources generalize topics such that they fail to portray of providing sustainable solution for emerging business situations. Additionally, there is a limitation of using quantitative research methodology in this research paper for the method fails to focus on a certain academic sector that should promote entrepreneurship in higher educational institutions. Therefore, the secondary resources fail to narrow down the topic as per requirement, and hence, theoretical frameworks are not adoptable. In this aspect, the quantitative research method is very general and lacks focus on answering the research question. The final aim of this study is to show how governments should deal with upcoming business opportunities, specifically in Omen. Developing the academic system in Omen primary purpose is to accommodate and fit graduating students to the current and future business arena by training and educating young minds concerning entrepreneurial skills. The research question also aims to precisely and more efficiently analyze the impact of entrepreneurial expertise and training on both domestic and global economy. In other words, the research methodology applied in this paper enhances Omen higher education students on how to mitigate the culture of job seeking and develop the culture of job creation. Then, the conclusion of the research paper basis on results discussed from different resources that aim to articulate how to improve and enhance academic institutions in Omen to promote entrepreneurship. Significance and conclusion The importance of this study is to develop entrepreneurship studies in the higher educational institution. It is necessary for the government to develop a culture of bringing up a generation that is set to create jobs rather. Therefore, the introduction of entrepreneurial education and training programs in high academic education enhances the application of productive knowledge in various business fields. Therefore, exposing young minds to simple, realistic and applicable entrepreneurial skills promotes domestic economic growth and reducing high rates of unemployment. Oman is one of the developing nations where the rate of unemployed graduates is increasing at a high rate. To bridge the gap between the weak labor demand and high energy supply in the country, in recent years the government in partnership with corporate have been promoting the development of entrepreneurial studies in universities. Additionally, graduating students are becoming more aware of the upcoming business opportunities than before.
