I am working hard and providing leadership to ensure the project is a success. I would tell the others to sacrifice themselves and increase their effort in the project and not leave me to do most of the work. I would urge them to consider the importance of this project and the benefits of the business if the project is complete. I would motivate them to follow their passion and make it an income generating venture, outlining to them the advantages of such as a venture such personal freedom, ability to incorporate their creativity and innovation into the project and the self-satisfaction they would derive since all of them have a passion and abilities towards teaching children music. I would ask them to conduct themselves as professionals and ensure it reflects in their work outcomes. They should create more time and work extra hours to cover up for the improve in their jurisdictions to reduce the tasks I have to follow-up on. I would make my wife understand that I am the project manager and the success of the project depends on me more than the others and I have to show leadership by leading the others. If I don’t sacrifice myself then the others will follow suit and if I put more effort, they do the same. I would quit my other work after some time when the project is viable enough and we have started the operations to dedicate all my time to the new business. I would thank Nicole for the sacrifice of quitting her previous job to focus on the project and assure her that the project will be a success and I will do my best to make sure that happens. I would also advice Nicole to be calm and not be anxious or worried because all the processes of the project have to be done orderly and effectively so that the project is successful. She should not be anxious because soon the project will be complete and operations will begin. I would also delegate some supervisory tasks to Nicole because she is working full time and is focused fully on the project. Andres had promised to bring aboard some potential students and instructors but hasn’t done so for the past two months. A promise is a debt and I would inform him of the advantages of potential customers and instructors to the project. They would not only provide faster returns on the investment but also increase the marketing of the school through referrals to other potential customers. They would create a good image and brand of the school and reduce the marketing costs. I would tell Andres to work on achieving the objective of sourcing for potential students and instructors and at the same time take up the task with the others and also advertise the same and not rely on Andres in case he doesn’t deliver. I would talk to Brian and appreciate him for his effort and sacrifice to want to take on delivering the music laboratory part by himself. Then I would communicate to him on the importance of outsourcing. Doing the whole part himself would go against the set plans therefore affecting other aspects of the project. The outcome will make him feel fulfilled of doing a great job and save us some costs that would be incurred in outsourcing, but it may cost us more in terms of quality of output and durability of the project. A music technology laboratory is a costly, technical and very important part of the project and any errors or mistakes would greatly set us back as thus we ought to outsource. We are already behind schedule and we cannot afford to waste any time .Outsourcing would save us time and make his work easy therefore helping towards completing the project within the planned time frame in order to capture the market demand. Part 4 task 1 and 2 Agenda Date: 5/10/2016 Time:  11:00am - 1:30pm Location: Conference Room B Attendees: James Perkins – Project manager Nicole Vermont – operations manager Brian Leonard - marketer Andres manucho – laboratory technician OBJECTIVES 1) Evaluate the ,marketing materials 2) Decide on project location 3) Follow up on music lab development 4) Develop fundraising strategies 5) Finalize project Timeline SCHEDULE 11:00 to 11:15             Evaluate the marketing materials 11:15 to 11:45          Decide on location 11:45 to 1:00               Discuss music lab development 1:00 to 1:15                 Discuss funding options 1:15 to 1:30                 Discuss the project timeline ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES Note-taking: Nicole Vermont Task 3 and 4 I would advise Nicole and Brian to air their views out about the location of the project to resolve the understandings. I would tell Andres to keep his word and source for potential instructors and students as the y would help make early returns for the project. I would tell Nicole to continue with the hard work and finish on sourcing the marketing materials. And lastly engage Brian on wanting to take the music laboratory development by himself and explain to him the risks involved and the advantages of sourcing for external expertise. Statement of work for curriculum development The curriculum is to be developed based on Australian Music Examinations Board set out curriculums. The Curriculum not only includes books from AMEB but also other helpful resources. The curriculum should be designed to have for each difficulty level: A set of preliminary learning's tasks which will then be tested based on performance and/or tests. The curriculum should include all the lessons that will be taught with a clear outline of the specific tasks that the children will engage in. The lessons should include both theory and practical aspects. There should be a standard way of assessing the understanding of the children which should contribute to their final grades which will be mainly measured by major practical and theoretical exams at the end of training. The training should consist of two levels being the basic level where training is offered to acquire the basic skills fundamental for carrying out simple tasks and the advanced level that comprises of critical or challenging aspects and activities. One has to pass the basic level to go through with the advanced level otherwise one should take more time in the basic level until he/she is fit enough to advance to the advanced level. The pass grade for advancing to the advanced level will be set at 80% of both the practical and the theory exams to equip the children with both set of skills. The curriculum should contain the different music units to be taught in English only unless otherwise stated and the units should be taught for all grades from the first grade to the eighth grade. For the practical lessons the children should be taught basic lessons staring with the introduction of the tools and instruments used such as the guitar and piano. The introduction should be followed by how to use the instruments by doing basic tasks such as using the keys. This is followed by learning to manage simultaneous tasks such as singing and playing some basic keys to try and create a rhythm. The curriculum should include practice songs which they can be used in practice by the children. For all the lessons a list of books for reference and guidance should be provided to aid in training and acquiring more knowledge by the children. For those who may need extra teaching time or practice time video and book tutorials may be necessary and available upon request. At the end of the training those in advancement level opt to have gathered vast knowledge enabling them to successfully use instruments, sing and create songs. They will hence be required to create and perform their own song at Advanced Performance Night along with two songs of their choice NOTE: All books unless specified are published by AMEB. All advanced instrument students will be required to play their instruments along with a song of their choice. All students of Individual Lessons are also able to perform at Performance Night Part 5 task 2 and 3 Lessons learned from the project. Although a project can be successful or not, it depends a lot on the research conducted to get a good and viable project which is realistic. An in depth analysis of the market, financial resources, market demand, marketing strategies and the competitors is important as it will greatly affect the project. As a leader one has to sacrifice himself /herself more than the other members and provide leadership and motivation when they seem to lose hope. Financial planning is important as most of the activities require financing and as such a proper backup of financing is important. The project costs may increase from the set budget and an extra monetary resource may be required to meet the project activities. Marketing is important as it ensures the target market is aware of the project enabling new customers access the project. Internet marketing is a modern and effective way of marketing as it reaches a much bigger audience although it may be costly. Misunderstandings are normal in projects and an amicable way of solving them is necessary for success of the project. The location of a project is a very important factor to consider because it will affect the number of clients that will turn up. The location should be near transport facilities, should have enough space for all the activities and should provide a good learning environment. Technology should be considered in all projects as they will attract interest and increase the number of clients .Team work is needed for a project to be successful and the more time all the partners put their effort towards the project the earlier it will be complete. Outsourcing for expertise is very helpful in ensuring quality and standard output is achieved from the activities so that the project can deliver quality services and products and lastly time is one of the most important aspects in project delivery because the project targets the market period when it can gain maximum profits and failure to finish the project on time may lead to low investment return rate. Project report Overview of the project The project is aimed at developing a state of the art music academy that provides very competitive prices and offer different packages. The school offers practical, theoretical and vocal lessons to primary school children between the ages of three to sixteen. It will provide effective methods of assessment to the children. Reasons for the project Music is a very important health activity child to undertake; it not only teaches important skills helps them develop and grow their talent and abilities .It would also enable them to use their time usefully and help them have healthy social interactions that will be useful. A new music training school is needed as there is increased demand for schools that offer music training. Although there are some, most of them are not technological and do not meet the high standards in delivering to children. There is sufficient evidence that there will be no barriers to enter the market and that market share can be captured to allow the business to not only succeed, but also grow into a well sought after musical academy. Activities involved Business plan A business plan was developed to show shareholders the owners of the project, what the project entails, the scope of the business activities, the resources required and the projected returns from the project. This is used by the investors in assessing whether a project will be beneficial or not. Financial budget The project is estimated to cost $ 100,000 in total this being factored costs for all the level of activities. The 4 members each invested $ 10,000. A loan of 10,000 $ was also acquired with an interest of 5% payable upon the start of business. On top of that a long term unsecured loan of $ 30,000 was acquired from the CBA payable with 2 years in equal monthly installments of $ 1331.54.Loan processing costs amounted to $ 495.The project incurred extra costs in developing the curriculum and $10,000 more was used. Marketing Marketing was done by creating brochures, fliers and an online web page. They provided information relating to the school such as the location, services offered, operation days and contact information. This would enable potential clients know and inquire further about the school. Risk assessment Risk assessment was conducted to establish potential threat to the project and the threats were noted and recorded together with their potential level of impact on the project. Curriculum A curriculum was developed through purchase. The curriculum follows the regulations of AMEB which is the governing legislative body with the function of developing curriculum for teaching students music. The curriculum outlines the various lessons that will be taught, the methods of assessment and the passage score of continuing to the next level. Music laboratory A music laboratory was completed with technological instruments such as pianos, guitars, microphones, drums, percussions, desktop computers, head phones and music software’s and programs. The instruments we checked and sound proofing conducted to ensure they were functioning properly. Location A one story apartment was leased with annual payments of $ 75,000 in a good environment with easy access to transport facilities, spacious and well lit rooms and serene quiet environment ideal for learning. Modifications were done on the building such as partitions and paintings to suit the needs.
