These problems may be defined in accordance with the nature of the materials expected to be used in design in the housing construction as well as the environmental surrounding. The problems associated with the surrounding of the housing design project include unfavourable climatic conditions such as extreme wetness and coldness. There is also the problem that is associated with the acceptability of the design by the community. Since the housing design is expected to make use of plastic bottles as one of its materials which is regarded as a waste product, the members of the community may not readily accept. This spells out problems is defined in this section. After drying up, the bottles are expected to be ready for construction and the skilled builders will be called upon to carry out the construction process and proceed to completion with the assistance from the unskilled local labourers as may be necessary. 5 Design Choice: Context and Impact 5.1 Environmental The choice of design considers several environmental benefits. In this case, there are several environmental impacts associated with the design choice. The context of the selected design is in such a way that it is expected to present positive impacts to the environment. This is because the amount of plastic bottles disposed all over the surrounding in this environment is going to be taken up and converted into beneficial use by this design and construction project for houses. The surrounding environment in this community is expected to be rendered clean and conducive for living. This is the plastic bottle collection excise that is expected to be performed by the young members in the community will act as a way of cleaning their surroundings. The environmental impacts associated with the context of performance of this house construction project are largely going to save the environment against the negative impacts that would otherwise be caused by the management of the plastic bottles (Baillie, 2010). If the plastic bottles would not be utilised in this project design, then there would be a crisis in managing them even as waste. Burning of plastic bottles and other plastic wastes in incinerators brings the release of substances that are heavily toxic. The incinerators are also responsible for the production of various discharges that are toxic into the air and the surrounding. These toxic substances find their way into water bodies, onto the ground and even on the vegetation cover hence causing a serious negative environmental impact. Some of the toxic substances that are usually released because of the burning of plastics in incinerators include dioxin as well as several other organic compounds that are chlorinated. These toxic substances are popularly known for their environmental and health impacts on human beings and other living things. There are other toxic substances associated with plastics, which could contaminate even the supply of food if not properly disposed.
