It concerns a darkly comic tale about an implausible romance between a certain girl referred to as Maria (Adrienne Shelly), a very meaning yet the most thoughtless pregnant teenager and a very frustrated young man known as Mathew (Martin Donovan) that deals with assemblage and repair of the electronics. At the time Maria and her available judgmental father get involved in the heated argument and later she decides to reveal her pregnancy, the father suddenly gets a heart attack that causes her drop dead. This creates an extensive amount of tension to her entire family (Fuller, 1992). As a result, the situation worsens when Maria eventually turns to her most self-absorbed and football player boyfriend purposely to get comfort from him, she gets nothing other than insensitivity. Meanwhile her boy friend Mathew has several problems such as his father is very abusive, he is under the control of an intensified sense of morality that greatly hinders him from carrying around the potentially and deadly grenade. The gathering of these two troubled minds initially promises to become beneficial to both, however, the situation sours as we can observe them are under the force that requires them to have an interaction with each other’s individual dysfunctional family. When both Mathew and Maria coincidentally meet within a deserted house, they create a very strange bond. However, the two insolent individuals are required to face their manic families prior to their dealing with one another. The movie begins within an office of the abortion clinic a place where a heroine and pregnant teenager girl known as Maria Coughlin (Adrienne Shelly) is under interrogation by a faux-ironically known as Nurse Paine. Later on, the hero Mathew Slaughter (Martin Donovan) who is an unemployed electronic technician who stays with an abusive father (John Mackay) gets is seen joining in. His father in lumberman jacket and the cap is seen coming home and in a few minutes he punches Mathew for leaving the cigarette on a side of their bathroom sink. Mathew can be seen walking around with the hand grenade within his pocket each place he moves to. The next scene shows Maria who goes home only to find that the argument she previously involved in with her father, at the time Maria slapped him, contributed to her father’s death due to the heart attack. Additionally, her mother (Merritt Nelson) the only left parent also appears to be abusive, though she ever willing to invite her daughter to sit down as well as have a cup of tea and even supper decides to throw Maria out of their house. This leaves Maria on a certain bench that is in front of the inconvenience store sympathizing with her lonely, she eventually decides go into the store. While in the store, the owner of the store tries to force her into the action of rape but Maria burn his eye by the use of a cigarette in order to find her exit. In the next scene, a hero by the name Mathew Slaughter (Martin Donovan) who is an unemployed electronic technician stays with a very abusive father (John MacKay). The father is seen wearing on a lumberman’s jacket and cap, come in the home only to punch his son Mathew simply because of leaving a cigarette by the side their bathroom sink. Most of the time, Mathew is observed walking around with the hand grenade within his pocket (Fuller, 1992). Mathew and Maria later on hook up during their meeting in a deserted building and extend their relationship to Mathew’s home place. On her getting up the following morning, Maria takes her shower, keeps her clothes within the wash and decides to walk around inside the kitchen while in the towel, spilling most of the things to left and right. The arrival of Mathew’s father makes him to become enraged due to the mess Maria caused and her presence in his compound. He eventually throws Maria’s wet clothes down on the floor. When the son Mathew comes in to her rescue, his father punches him for another time. Then Maria grabs some dress to put on from the closet hall and opts to take Mathew to the home together her. At this moment Maria is accepted back in the home on the agreement that she will take full responsibility of being her mother’s slave throughout their lives. This film is really about growing up as well as getting out on someone’s own ability, for instance, Maria and Mathew behave like catalysts one another’s independence. For the case of Mathew, Maria is seen to be around for him to take care of any mothering responsibility that he may seem to be in need of. It appears that Maria grabbed a dress that belonged to Mathew’s mother though she passed away. It is so affectionate to find Maria wearing nothing else but the clothes which previously belonged to Mathew’s mother (Pall, 1995). In another scene, Mathew is seen encouraging Maria to wear the glasses which she considers to make appear like a librarian as Mathews says that he like the librarians very much. Mathew asks Maria to marry him, a request that she immediately accepts. According to Maria, having a man to successfully fight to acquire her from the ownership of her mother appears to incite Maria’s resolve. At the end of the movie, Maria caught up with abortion which all along she has been planning and opt to make a decision that marrying a person she is familiarized with for not more than a week will not cross her minds. Use of editing and writing In this movie, what keeps and encourages the audiences is Maria. Adrienne Shelly manages to extensively communicate on the inner struggle as well as thoughts of her own character. Although, some set-ups miles a way can be seen, one can have the tendency of truly believing that Maria is for real rather than being innocent of the world’s happenings (Pall, 1995). On the other hand, Martin Donovan can be perceived as an engaging actor who appropriately plays Mathew. He is a rebellious and a man who is immature as well as identified with uncompromising principles that are associated with conviction. Unfortunately, Hartley who is the director of the trust (1990) film does not give the impression of believing so much about the movie and sabotages Mathew and Maria’s character’s actual growth with the final scene which literally blows the prevailing good will the two have created. Eventually, Trust (1990) is the betrayal that basically communicates the idea that honesty does not really pay. This implies that Hartley greatly believes in his own corrupt adults and not the youths. In addition, Hartley’s world in “Trust” not only seems to be arbitrary, but also pointless. Hartley in this film purposely intended to satirize America through undertaking the leading ephemeral as well as superficial aspects of various societies and treat them with the utter seriousness (Gilbey, 1998). As in the entire Hartley’s pictures, the film’s narrative is generally filtered through the comically detached sensibility that others may consider the acquired taste. The film information provides the story through a comical offbeat movie which presents an astute comment a variety of relationships existing between the men and women within the current America. This originates from the same director of the ‘Surviving Desire’, ‘Unbelievable Truth’ and ‘Simple Men’. For instance, Trust (1990) movie presents a certain pregnant girl of 17 years old known as Maria who quits her high school and decides to leave at home. Later on Maria meets with Mathew, a very dangerous looking young man who is an electronic wizard that all the time carries with him a Korean War-issue in his hand grenade. Both Maria and Mathew have stormy relationships with their parents (Gilbey, 1998). Due to its unusual as well as perspective look on the nature of the prevailing love and responsibility, the film Trust is clearly emerging to be one of the leading quirky and very sympathetic romantic comedies in 1990s. Furthermore, Trust film can be described as the offbeat, sentimental and gloomy. This is because its plot revolves around the opposites attracting, misfits as well as coming of the age and its comic aspects originates from the dark humor. The main genre of this film Trust is drama, romance and independent, directed in a talky style. Trust (1990) is a slow paced movie which is set in part within the suburbs and its location is based in the USA. As a result of its involved profanity, Trust movie has obtained much attention for emerging the award winner and its critical acclamation (Sarris, 1993). Conclusion Trust basically tells a darkly comic tale concerning an implausible romance between Maria (Adrienne Shelly) who is a well-meaning yet inconsiderate pregnant teenager and Matthew (Martin Donovan) a very frustrated young man who is an electronic wizard. Hartley who is the director of the trust (1990) film does not give the impression of believing so much about the movie and sabotages Mathew and Maria’s character’s actual growth with the final scene which literally blows the prevailing good will the two have created.
