Fundamental values Fundamental values are important in any nation because they help in the growth of the country and that of individuals in the sense that, they find a common ground where they can grow and become one as a nation. A value can be defined as something that is deemed worth, important, has merit, desirable, and useful such as tradition, ideal, person, practice, custom and possibility. Various fundamental values that have been explored in this course are significant in the cross-cultural and transnational support. This is because in the United States there is diversity in the people; hence, a need to embrace and support their cultures and beliefs. In this essay, I will look at women liberization as a fundamental value that have been or could be shared for better or worse across various cultural boundaries. Women liberation is another fundamental value that is of great significance in today’s world. Women liberation came about to deliver women from being held captive by their men. Men thought that they had control over women where they had the perception that women could not liberate themselves from that control. Women liberation is imperative because women have been set free from the male supremacy and oppression (Appiah 78). This is because women play a vital role in the growth and development of the nation and without the women, many nations cannot be where they are today. In that, during war women were left with the family to ensure that their families were well fed and the children went to school. The cry of the women has led to the liberization of women in many countries as they have been in the frontline to support their husbands in their works. However, in some countries women liberization has not been realized as women have been held as property or possessions that men own. In that, men took their powers and control giving the woman no chance to become he own person. For example, in Dreams of trespass by Fatima she explains how it was like to be a woman in Morocco in the 1940s and 1950s. the woman did not have any right where even when she wanted to go out she had to seek permission from the husband as there were doormen at the door to prevent them from leaving. Additionally, the girl child did not have any freedom to know what was happening in the outside world. However, in the twentieth century the trend has significantly changed where women have realized their potential and have broken the chains that were encroached by men (Mernissi 40). They have learned that they too have the right to a good education and good work pay and employment in that they have been given equal rights with men. Women liberization should be promoted across the nation to ensure that people understand the meaning of having women leaders to fight for the rights of those who have not yet seen the right at the end of the tunnel. Additionally, the international community has been of great help as they have ensured that every nation acknowledges the right of women to access good education, health care and other amenities. Women liberation has brought about equality in many societies where women have been given the same opportunities as men, as well as, equal treatment. In that, women have been allowed in the political arena where they have been in the frontline to support the governments and ensure that their gender equality. Women liberation as a fundamental value in the society is very important in the sense that, it has ensured that violence against women has gone down. Where many women who are in abusive marriages have managed to walk away because they have the support of the government. In addition, women liberation as a fundamental value has ensured that the girl child has good education and is protected by the statutes to ensure that they are not denied equal rights as men. Because of good education, women have managed to enter into the political arena where they are competing with their male counterparts (Conrad 60). Additionally, women have stopped becoming over dependent on their husbands because they have been empowered through different projects that the governments have provided for their citizens. Women liberation is shared across cultural boundaries through the international community that has been in the frontline in the support of women, their rights, and freedoms (Sontag 42). The international community created conventions that gave the girl child powers to ensure that she gets the right education. For example, in Africa women have been empowered in the sense that, they have been given the opportunity to attend school and get good education that has facilitated in the growth. Additionally, violence against women has been at bay, especially in relation to Female genital mutilation where the communities that practice these cultures have been taught how to embrace other ways to make the girls feel that they have moved from one stage to the other (Appadurai, 89). This has been done through vocational training and seminars where girls have been taught how to behave in front of their elders. Therefore, women liberation has been shared across cultural boundaries. Another good example is in the Islam communities where the women were only seen as objects to their husbands and parents. However, today women in these areas that practice Islam have embraced women liberation with open hands where the woman has been given the right to education unlike in the 50s and 60s. Additionally, there has been an increased number of women leaders in the society meaning that women have taken over the male supremacy. The fundamental value has also been shared through literature writing where many feminist have written about women liberation. In that, the 21st century generation may not understand the struggles that women in the earlier generations have had to undergo in order to ensure that women have been liberated (Sennett 62). Therefore, the only way to appreciate their efforts is by writing literature and educating people about how women decided to get out of the houses and work. The literature indicates that women believed in equality meaning that they saw themselves as equals and they could do better. Additionally, the literature written by the feminist have ensured that women get an insight of what it was like to be a woman in the 19th century. Therefore, the literature has played a major role in not only educating the girl child, but also ensuring that they appreciate the efforts made by the women to help in liberating their efforts. The books have been read internationally meaning that they have been shared across all cultures. Women liberation has come a long way where women have fought to the best of their efforts to ensure that men do not have control over their lives. The task has not been easy but the outcome of the fight has kept the women moving. The liberation of women has ensured that the women put food on their tables in the cases where the husband does not provide. Women liberation has come a long way because women only waited for their husbands to bring home food (Ṣāliḥ 34). However, the employment industry in fact has employed many women than men meaning that women are working harder than men are. Therefore, it is clear that there has been a reason for liberation of women and the significance of women liberation have been immense in a positive way. In that looking, back in the 1950s and 1960s, it is clear that the women movement had decided that they are in need of equality and the only way to get is to mobilize women across all nations and teach them about their rights, which has been a successful endeavor. In conclusion, women liberation as a fundamental value has played a significant role in ensuring that the rights and freedoms of women have been safeguarded. Women liberation has empowered women into realizing their dreams of becoming professionals. Additionally, it has reduced violence against women because women are more empowered compared to the time when they waited for their husbands and depended on them completely.
