Extract of sample "Associations of Diet and Lifestyle with Hyperlipidemia for Middle-Aged and Elderly Persons"

Statistics and precautions taken by other populations towards prevention of Hyperlipidemia and encouraging good eating habits will be used to determine the degree of Hyperlipidemia in middle-aged and elderly persons among the Guangxi Bai Ku Yao and Han Populations, and the rest of the world.
Exclusion criteria
This study will exclude elders who are feeding on certain meals as per the doctor’s recommendations. Since the study is focused on Guangxi Bai Ku Yao and Han Populations, all other populations apart from ones used as control samples will be excluded from the study.
Description of study options
Information on demography, dietary intake, and lifestyle factors was collected by standard questionnaires. Blood pressure, height, weight, waist circumference, and serum lipid levels were measured, and body mass index (BMI) was calculated as weight (kg) divided by height (m) squared.
Data collection summary
Data will be collected depending on various methods that will be used in the study to collect data. Since the study will be conducted within a certain period of time, there will be specific timing of measurements collected, dependent variables like diet and lifestyle, and independent variables like middle-aged and elderly people. There will also be control variables as discussed above.
Description of actual data sample
In this study, people between the age of 25 and 65 (both male and female) were used in this study. This study will be focused on two clans Bai Ku Yao and Han. Their lifestyle and eating habits will also be used in this study.

Summary of results
The prevalence rates of hypercholesterolemia, hypertriglyceridemia, and hyperlipidemia in Bai Ku Yao and Han were 19.59% vs 36.13% (P<0.001), 13.81% vs 16.97% (P>0.05), and 28.45% vs 43.11% (P<0.001), respectively ((Ruixing et al. 974). Hyperlipidemia was positively correlated with BMI; waist circumference; total energy, total fat, and saturated fatty acids intakes; and negatively associated with sex (women were higher), physical activity, and total dietary fiber intake in Bai Ku Yao (P<0.05 to 0.001), whereas hyperlipidemia was positively associated with BMI; waist circumference; total energy, total fat, and saturated fatty acids intakes; and negatively associated with physical activity and total dietary fiber intake in Han (P<0.05 to 0.001).
Author conclusion
The prevalence of hyperlipidemia was significantly lower among ethnic Bai Ku Yao than among ethnic Han individuals, which might mainly be attributed to the more favorable dietary patterns, lifestyle choices, and physical activity levels in the former ethnic group ((Ruixing et al. 974).
Reviewer comments
This study was of great significance as it identified a major factor that has been killing many people not only among the studied populations but all over the world. It also provided necessary solutions that will help us prevent the occurrence of the studied problem.
