The role played by the Fire and Rescue services in such circumstances can not be overemphasized.

The true calibre and mettle of the personnel that render yeoman service in the wake of such disasters require more than congratulation messages. Both the public and the media appreciate the work performed by the Fire and Rescue services departments in the wake of grave dangers and emergencies in their relief and rescue operations.
