The world economy has to deal with different competitive markets and employee market is one where the degree of competition is very high. The challenge for organization is that they have to look towards developing the recruitment process in such a manner that not only the efficient workforce is hired but along with it the employees are retained for longer periods of time. Organization that give importance to human resource function are able to ensure that the employees are preserved as assets and are motivated so that top performance and an organizational culture of high morale can be built. The 21st century has highlighted the role and importance of human resource function and has ensured the development of organization and transformation in the performance in several ways. The report published in 2011 by McKinsey Quarterly highlighted the manner in which organization which lays importance to the human resource function are able to transform their business and ensure success. The long term performance of an organization is closely linked to the talent that the organization has, their commitment level towards the goals, the motivational level that they have and finally the accomplishment of the goals. Human resource function acts as a bridge and helps to improve communication between the company and the consumer by highlighting them the products and services and persuading them to purchase those products. This thereby leads towards linking people and performance and acts as a tool through which the organization is able to use their resources in a better way (Boxall & Purcell, 2003). This acts as a mechanism which provides an opportunity through which the organization can develop effective strategies and steps which can be used by the human resource department for the success of the organization. The HRM mainly looks towards ensuring that the organization has the required talent based on whom the organization will be able to carry out their roles and responsibilities. The HR function thereby largely looks towards recruiting, attracting, hiring, training, motivating and retaining the people so that the organization has the required workforce at their disposal based on which the larger goals of the organization can be easily achieved. The department looks towards ensuring that the employees hired is as per the job requirements and matches the job profile that the organization looks towards offering (Bolton & Storr, 2006). This ensures that organization doesn’t have to undergo the same process of hiring employees again and again. Apart from it the mechanism also looks towards ensuring that organization looks towards motivating the employees so that they remain with the organization for a longer period of time. This will help to bring the required transformation through which the business will be able to transform the manner in which they are working and will be able to bring about the required changes required for long term success. An organization which has an HR department also doesn’t have to deal with the wrongful termination lawsuits and discrimination as the business by having an HR department is legally protected. The HR department looks towards indulging into such issues and ensures that the employees are educated and taught the entire process and the different areas based on which their performance will be monitored. They also act as a liaison between the management and the employees and ensure that all the problems associated with the employees are resolved. This helps to promote fairness and equity within the organization which thereby ensures that the entire process of rendering services and making the employees work in the desired manner in achieved (Cipolla, 2005). This will help to ensure that the resources are used in the best possible manner and ensures that the long term success of the organization can be determined based on the workforce that the organization has. The role of HR has thereby become diverse as they look towards creating an environment where the employees are educated and interviewed based on the job profile. This ensures that discrimination doesn’t exist and the employees will have no space to raise their voice against the organization. As a result of this all employees within the organization will work as a common unit having shared common goals which will multiply the strength of the business and will help to create the required push through which better monitoring and development of policies towards the long term success of the organization becomes possible (Scott, 2005). This thereby strengthens the process of planning as the decisions taken by HR are better planned. The fact that HR directors are part of the management which makes strategies are better aware about the actual realities and knows the mechanism through which the policies can be best implemented. This thereby ensures that the required adjustments are made and a process is determined and developed through which the organization looks towards hiring the correct employees (Attersley, 2005). This helps to match the current progress with the future expectations and based on it the business is able to overcome the different barriers and work on the opportunities which are present before them. In addition to it the process also entails that the information is passed in a structured and timely manner. This ensures that each employee is aware about the goals and the role they have to play in shaping their performance and the performance of the organization. This thereby results in different initiatives being taken by the HR department to improve productivity and looks towards intervening in the different matters which will help to bring about the required transformation in the manner the work is carried out. The fact that HR department carries out a lot of different functions of the organization and helps the organization to gain efficiency has made more and more organization consider it as a specialist department. With decreasing man force and increasing competition HR department serves as a strong shield through which the organization is able to develop their workforce and also ensure that they are motivated to take bigger and larger role within the organization. This thereby results in a complete transformation in the manner the organization works and helps to create additional productivity for the organization. References Attersley, J. (2005).
