SYSTEM DESIGN Name: Instructor: Course: Date: Introduction The designing and implementation of information based website and complimentary phone application is a widely used marketing technology that is able to give the customers and other clients easy and quick access to the latest deals and sales within shopping complexes. In this case, the system is expected to streamline the ever growing population of the Parramatta community. The system design is to be providing the customers and the retail owners to be with relevant information which will in return facilitate the provision of relevant and effective services to the community. The monitoring and evaluation process will be able to provide a measure for the services and identify the gaps which are to be filled and the strengths that are to be enhanced. The process is also expected to provide the management and stakeholders with information regards to the clients so as to be able to meet their requirements. By doing this, the complex will be able to solve the problems that are associated with the congestion. The system design will utilize the use of MySQL 5.0. database for the back end and the JSP for the front end system. Aim and objectives The project will aspire to develop a website and a complementary phone application to give the users of the complex the users ease access to the services and resources the facility offers. The information website will also provide the clients and the retail owners with feedback information to be able to gauge the quality of services being provided as they are the main stakeholders. The site will be designed to offer a chance for each shop to be able to upload two of their best deals per day. This will enable the facilities to run out the old stock thus being able to provide the clients with great and better deals. This will also offer a chance for the small businesses in the complex with am equal chance to be able to compete with the already established bigger retailers and thus be able to grow and form a competitive advantage base. This will also be able to uplift the competition level of the retail shops thus the dire need for each to offer unbeatable customer services. The system design The water fall model will be exploited in the design of the system. This will be done in phases where the 1st phase will witness the feasibility. The second phase will be the requirement analysis which will have the responsibilities of the administrator and shop owners identified. This will include the identifications of the factions they are to perform on the website and the outcomes that they are to expect. The phase will also consider the requirements of the client. The third and fourth phase will involve the designing of the web pages and the creation of the site map. This will include the information on how the customer, admin or the shop owner will navigate the through the site. The phase will also consider the designing of the shopping cart and the catalogue. The coding system The phase will involve the writing of the website and the shopping cart codes. The database will be created at this point in addition to the website link. This will be done by the development servers. Selected technology The design will be separated in 2 parts which will comprise of the Back end and the Front end system parts. To begin with, the back end system will provide the ability for the retail outlets in the Parranatta complex to be able to upload, edit as well as modify the information on their own stores. In addition, it will offer the chance for possible check validation and identification process for each store. The system is reliable as it is able to securely protect the proprietary and client information. The system is able to deter manually defined variables by users through the employment of session variables. The users will be able to effortlessly manage his/her back end information by applying the user- friendly approach through focusing on the inexperience of the web programming. In addition, the users will be able to control the store information that is being viewed. The efficient use of the substance management design is able to effectively give information as well as monitor the aspects of product management, management of the web board, management of the shopping cart, management of the members, management of the promotion activities, management of the banners, management of the poll, management of the shopping complex as well as the management of the article information. The components of the back end system will be organized as represented in the figure below. Secondly, the front end system will comprise of pages that the clients will be able to view and will be created from templates that it can be able to easily apply the loading process ass well as the expedite design. The part will be consistent on the menu and thus easy to be used. This part is effective as it is considered by many persons who have implemented the system design as easy to use considered to the other web parts. The front web pages are to use templates which are expected to save the bandwidth as well as the numbers accessing the database. Only four details are needed for displaying the details on the access menu. The queries submitted consist of SQL statements that are joined. These mainly serve the purpose to inquire for main information directly from the database. This design is well illustrated below; How to build the online information website There are 4 basic steps that will be followed. These will include; -Getting the company that will host the site -Identification of the domain name -Acquire directories and register them -Generate traffic The site will have to be maintained through invoicing, transaction and processing. Background research to design the information website Things to be needed upon the completion of the site have to be identified. These include; the hosting website, domain name, merchant account, certificate for a secure server and the payment for the transaction gateway. The name to be recognized on the internet will be the domain name. This will be identified by the suffix –com as this is a commercial business website. The domain name to accompany the suffix should be short and easy to identify. This will be usefull as the clients will not have a hard time memorizing it. The merchant account This bank account will allow the business to be able to accept financial payments to be made through the credit cards online. This facilitates the deposit of money electronically as the customer is not required to send the money physically. The payment method will be almost similar to the physical site shopping. The clients will have to select the items by visiting the website and putting in the CART. The credit card will be their final way to get out. The credit card will be verified to assess its genuineness and validity. This will also be used to verify if the card has money in its account and check and clear for possible fraud existence. The payment processes to be used during this process will be the payment gateways and the payment processor. The customers will be able to browse information of the various products within the shopping complex and be able to compare their affordability. The payment gateway will be able to verify the information on the card at the real time when the transaction is taking place. This service will be provided by LinkPoint and Authorize Net. The gateway processor will finalize the whole card process by either accepting or rejecting the payment and relay the information to the customer. The buyer will then select the product he/she wants to buy then click on the BUY button on the webpage. The client will click on the checkout button once he/she is through with the purchase. The customer will be led to a secure form where he/she will be required to fill his/her information which will include the credit card information. Use case: The shopping interface Four interfaces will be available; these include the admin interface, shop owner interface, customer interface3 and the miscellaneous interface. When the client logs in he has options to browse products, browse the special priced products or even add products to cart in order to make a purchase. The staff main use cases include confirmation of new registration, maintain or edit customer information, provide help to clients and maintain site map. The staff will act as a guide to clients and will ensure that the system runs as expected. The payment processing system will have the function of processing payments according to the value specified by the system.
