Civil engineering deals with construction, design, and maintenance of physical build environment. The software of civil engineering is used for designing the construction of bridges, roads, dams, canals, and buildings. Therefore, the survey and civil engineering software are used in designing structures. Background In the chapter, we present an overview of a number of aspects of research on survey and civil engineering software. In this topic, a survey is first conducted as a process then data collected during the survey is recorded. The trend used to implement software programs in civil engineering began as plans for education for future civil engineering. Indeed, the concerns and trends are currently on continuing education system that maintains the professional license. We then discuss different software of survey, a different software of civil engineering and use of data recording to produce digital models. Next, we explain how data recording can interface with CAD and we discuss essential consideration regarding the potential of data recording to CAD. Survey and data recording is a secure method of conducting research, the data collected should be accurate and the best way to obtain accurate data is by using quality tools of a survey. This will avoid errors in final data. Consequently, also, quality methods of recording data should be devised for future surveys. As such, experts should devise strategies that could lead to innovation of better tools to be used in future researches. There are various survey software that most big companies use to gather and collect data. SurveyGizmo This is a survey tool that is used to power kinds of in-depth data collection by using the expansive toolset to report and integrate the data. The tool is a global and reliable platform that is scalable in connecting data with other analysis tools. In fact, it easily shows correlations, trends, and patterns between questions since automated analysis is already integrated (TONIAS, E. C 2016) SoGoSurvey This is a powerful survey template that is powerful and easy to use. The software provides several functionalities such as building survey. In this functionality, the software provides extensive types of questions, survey template design, a database containing common questions, and supports up to thirty-seven languages. The software also deploys surveys by distributing surveys online via the web, using social media or even email. In this functionality, engagement of responses can be tracked and automated. Civil engineering software is a link that provides software that is useful to civil engineers. These programs are grounded in traditional Finite Element Method and the analytical methods. The monitor in a program acts as a desktop where one is able to open price books, Estimates and bills of quantity, price lists, consult, insert, copy or modify parts of data from the source document to a destination document, and modify data easily by simple drag and drop operations. Moreover, Document Computational Format DCF can be modified to allow easy transit of bills and quantities and can also be used in estimating documents. The information in the document is uniquely contained in a compressed file that can easily be exported to word or excel. Undersea Explorer It is a software used to generate contour charts and grids. The software is an automated data collector connected to devices that provide real-time visualization and navigation on the PC screen. USE OF DATA RECORDING TO PRODUCE DIGITAL MODELS There are a variety of factors to be considered when planning to record data for CAD. The first concern is the object to be modeled and the end product required. The data recorded can have a potential on modeling a historic building, an excavation plan, theater scenery flats, and borrowing whereby each model have a different aspect and can be modeled differently in CAD. Data recording can be used in digital models in the following ways;  Data density The data recorded will depend on the digital model that is being produced and the end product that is visualized. A model to be produced should have a dense collection and recording of data to produce a quality transformation of a model. The recorded data will help to structure the quality and uses of digital model produced (ADEY 2012)  Flood modelling Only a high-resolution recorded data can be used in constructing digital models in constructed river banks, buildings, and roads. The model provides a flow dynamic on flood propagation  Coastline management Surveying must be conducted to provide a dense data records that should be used in developing a digital model called LiDAR that is used enables to give a maximum overlap between lands and see the interface to break the waves. POTENTIAL OF DATA RECORDING TO INTERFACE WITH CAD Data recording has a great potential on designing Cad-captures experienced in CAD conversions that enables engineers, designers, planners and architects to input plans into their CAD systems.
