MANAGEMENT COMMUNICATION Course Instructor Institution City/State Date Management Communication 13.5.1 Employment interview offer the interviewee as well as the interviewer with adequate information for determining whether the candidate’s skill sets and qualifications are suitable. Besides that, the interviewer utilizes the employment interview process to examine the personality of the interviewee in determining whether he/she is a good fit for the company. Moreover, the process offer the interviewee the opportunity of learning the company and also convey additional in-depth information concerning the organization as well as the various duties entailed in the job (Joseph, 2012). The interviewee through employment interview gets the chance of asking questions so as to gain more insight concerning the job expectations as well as to understand the organization's culture. The process also enables the interviewer to highlight the organization’s positive working aspects, like planning for growth. On the other hand, the interviewee can improve their their skills as well as positive personal attributes so as to exhibit their ability in helping the company realize its long-term and short-term objectives. 13.5.2 Employment related resources in our community include the Career and Employment Services that offers job seekers workshops, which includes interviewing skills, resume writing, strategies for job search as well as techniques for online job search. Another resource is Workforce Connections, which offers services to people seeking jobs by means of a “One-Stop” system. Though these connections, Job seekers always meet with job services representatives and are introduced to federal and state programs. Programs have also been made available for assisting employees who have been laid off paying for interim occupational reskilling at the community college. Moreover, a foundation, which offers various services helpful for aged workers in finding meaningful employment. Besides that, the foundation offers access to training as well as skills assessment for people aged 40 and above. Furthermore, the foundation qualified individuals that are qualified with on-the-job training. 13.6.1 To resolve the conflict we first had to acknowledge the existence of a difficult situation since clear communication and honesty play a crucial part in the process of resolution. After that we allowed everyone to express their feelings so as allow emotions to be acknowledged as well as expressed. Then the problem was defined where every person was met separately to be questioned about the problem. After defining the problem the underlying need was determined and common areas of agreement were established. Hen multiple alternatives were created so as to find solutions that satisfy everyone needs. Finally, follow-up was determined so as to monitor actions. 13.6.2 Collaborating is the best conflict management strategy because it enables members of the team to work together in finding a win-win solution for the current problem. Through the win-win approach an opportunity arises for result that is mutually beneficial. This consists of recognizing the opponents’ fundamental concerns as well as getting an alternative that can meet everyone’s concerns. Aside from that collaboration strategy results in the solving of the real problem and a win-win outcome (Rout & Omiko, 2007, p.88). Moreover, collaborating strategy supports mutual respect and trust, develops an effective foundation for future team work, and for the involved parties, the conflict outcome resolution is less stressful 13.6.3 Had a conflict with fellow volunteers pertaining on how to divide work, but instead it offered an opportunity for collaboration.  Even though on-going conflict can result in operation stalemate and make individuals to shut down, knowing me and other volunteers would manage the conflict, made it easier for me to resolve it.  As the leader of the team sometimes if found myself in the middle of disagreements or angry volunteers who were not ready to listen.  So, the more I understood about the significance of how conflict was hurting collaboration, it became easier to train the supervisors how to manage conflict and the costs related to doing nothing concerning it. 14.1.1 American Culture Melting pot Charming Atheist Enlightening Lovely Chinese Culture Zhong xin geng - loyal and devoted Mianzi lian – Image/face Liemao – politeness Guanxi – connections Li - etiquette, ritual, or courtesy In view of Chines culture, it is evident that they place higher value placed on individual modesty as well as group cooperation while in American culture they place higher value on self-reliance.  Self-promotion is more accepted. Chinese pay more attention to the past as well as the long-term future while Americans care less about the past and put much emphasis on the near-term future. In Chinese culture, status is based on inherited attributes like family, gender and age while in the American culture; status is based mostly on achievements such as level of success and education. 14.3.1 The Great Wall – it is the most famous Chinese symbol depicting the Chinese People's spirit of persistence as well as courage. Fig 1; the Great Wall Bianlian (Beijing Opera) - The Beijing Opera costumes are magnificent, graceful, brilliant and elegant and the many of them are made in handicraft embroidery. In these costumes the traditional Chinese patterns have been adopted making them to be of a high aesthetic value. Fig 2; Bianlian (Beijing Opera) Chinese Jiaozi - it is a Chinese traditional food, and is significantly loved by majority of the foreigners. Traditionally, families gather to make jiaozi during the Chinese New Year. Fig 3; Chinese Jiaozi Chinese red Flag - The red symbolizes the revolution while the five stars as well as their relationship symbolize the Chinese people unity under the Communist Party of China (CPC) leadership. Fig 4: the Chinese Flag Chinese Sedan Chair – it is an animal or human-powered transport vehicle for transporting people across China (China Tourist Map, 2010). Fig 5; Chinese Sedan Chair 14.3.2 In our culture it is believed to be disrespectful to shake a person hand while wearing gloves. Thumbs‐up is considered an offensive in China and many other countries It is viewed as a sexual assault Talking or drinking while the toast is happening is seen as lack of respect. In other culture rose is the ultimate symbol of romance and love, but in our culture it symbolizes funerals. 14.4.1 With regard to volatility of foreign exchange as well as fuel, the Qantas Group has experienced fuel as well as foreign exchange threats, and such threats are integral to the airline operations. Besides, the Qantas Group handles such threats by means of a hedging program that is comprehensive. Besides that, the transformation associated risks consists of industrial action associated with collective agreements of Qantas with its personnel (Qantas, 2014, p.9). Importantly, such risks are mitigated through initiatives for continuous employee engagement as well as constructive and ongoing conversation relevant stakeholders. The operations of the company relies on the incessant functioning of numerous IT and communication services. For this reason, the company has an all-encompassing management as well as control framework for reducing the probability of outages, ensuring timely detection as well as mitigating the impact (Qantas, 2014, p.9). 14.4.2 So as to achieve a satisfying end result, most films have been translated so as to retain the cultural heritage of the targeted audience, this connotes that cultural references are reflected in the cultural heritage of the audience. For instance, automated comedies such as Gnomeo and Julia, Ice Berg, Shrek, and Madagascar are more popular after being translated to different languages (Burczynska, 2012). Besides that, the title of American Hustle had to be changed in different cultures so as to be distributed beyond the English-speaking countries. Even though ‘hustle’ being an American term lacks direct translation in numerous other languages, it was approved by the production company (Columbia Pictures) for the title to be translated into American Scandal in Argentina, American Dream in Israel, American Bluff in France, American Scam in Quebec, as well as American Sting in Portugal. 14.5.1 Nowadays, ever since the global financial crisis the majority of people meet their daily needs by relying on pumped money or borrowed money, not on their real income or savings. Still, one should not blame the institutions for turning a blind eye to the state of affairs or for directly promoting the developments of this transition since a lot of people ate responsible for these developments. It is unfair to view the recent global crisis as the financial institutions and banking sector crisis since the exhibited itself as a specific human behavior crisis that has been described by İçke (2011, p.86) as ‘consuming currently and paying afterwards’. 14.6.1 Without a doubt, I would prefer Theory Y as my management style because it enables a person to take responsibility and be motivated in fulfilling the set objectives. Through this management style, a person can get a responsibility and requires less since work is considered as a natural element of life and enables work problems to be solved imaginatively (Mohamed & Nor, 2013, p.719). In organizations managed by Theory Y, employees at the lower organizational levels take part in decision making as well as they are offered more responsibility. 14.7.1 Expat networks such as ExpatFriends.com are utilized for learning language, meeting new expatriates, hanging out, and create meaningful relationships. For example, ExpatFriends.com being a global network has more than three million members from more than 200 countries. Majority of its members are successful investors, global professionals who use the platform to share their passion on international life. Australia Expat Forum is another example of expat network, and is mainly for Expats staying in Australia having moved to Australia from different counties. So expat networks are used for socializing, discussing immigration policies, property, laws, insurance, taxes as well as anything associated with expatriates. 14.7.2 The hardest assignment while on overseas assignment will be communicating with individuals from different culture since language barrier will create challenges. So, trying to communicate with the natives and trying to avoid making mistakes will be more challenging. The easiest assignment will be finding a job in the desired field of study since working overseas is a productive way for an individual to find a job in the preferred field considering that travelling overseas can provide a person with a chance of finding work in the preferred field as well as to obtain the needed work experience. 15.1.1 Some of my primary groups include family who represent emotional and personal bonds, Friends who we normally spend most of the time together talking and adventuring, and Love Relationships which is attributed to a mutual emotional and physical attraction. Primary groups are unique because it needs a connection or unity separate from the institutions or formal systems; normally, it is the primary group; emotional quality relationship that offers the needed bond. On the other hand, the secondary group is based on weak emotional ties as well as insignificant personal knowledge of each other. Contrary to the primary groups, secondary groups lack the objective of developing and maintaining the relationships. 15.1.2 There are times when working alone is preferable particularly when working on assignment that are related with personal goals, and avoiding to do mistakes or look stupid. Besides that, it better to work alone on a job that requires more concentration bearing in mind that working in a group always involves prolonged discussions concerning what to be done as well as how it should be done.  In consequence, this results in wastage of time and brings about frustration. Therefore, working is preferred in situation that a person has to identify their goals. 15.2.1 In my view it is practically possible for a non-member to help a group move from the storming stage to the norming stage because even though these are the most imperative stages of group development, the can help solve some arising problems. Most teams fail at storming stage because people begin to rebel boundaries created in the forming stage so the non-ember can help reduce resistance from the members in taking the tasks. Besides that, at norming stage people begin resolving their differences; appreciate strengths of their colleagues; and respecting the leaders’ authority leader (Lewis et al., 2006, p.363). So help and motivation from non-member can help team members at this stage develop a stronger commitment for the goal of the team. 15.2.2 There are many roles played by the group members, but mostly the roles change with time. In this case, the role of the initiator is the most important because he/she proposes or suggests new ideas to the group. Besides that, the information seeker is tasked with asking for suggestions clarification made with regard to the adequacy of their facts, for facts and authoritative information crucial to the problem at hand. The opinion seeking role is much positive because is involved in seeking clarification of values crucial to what is being undertaken by the group or values attributed to different proposed suggestions. The elaborator role always change with time because the role depends on the opinion seeker , and they are tasked with spelling out by developing meanings and offering suggestions rationale that had been made previously. 15.2.3 The team created to promote and develop a volunteering service for a number of our service areas, which included social care for adults and Children as well as learning disabilities. I joined after being invited by friend to contribute in improving the life quality for disabled adults and young people, older people, children, as well as their families. I left the team as a full member because of lack of group leadership and misplaced goals that would take years to achieve.  15.3.1 The main problem was that ideas were not discussed thoroughly as a team. However this was solved by engaging more in brainstorming, especially by concentrating on questions such as ‘what else’ and ‘What if’. Besides that, all team members were asked to present their individual ideas, and when the generated ideas were few the team organized for each member to complete further research and then team up for deliberation. The solutions were satisfactory because the problem was solved completely. In view of the 7-step approach to problem solving, the team espoused; step one (the Project Purpose and Scope), step two (current situation), as well as step four (Solutions). However, following the full seven-step framework could have been helpful because it could have helped the team from problem definition to implementation of solutions 15.3.2 Cost benefit analysis framework is beneficial to decision making because it offers a formalized and systematic set of procedures that can be used to examine whether to implement or fund a project. This framework can be utilized in comparing the projects and choose the one that is most promising one. Therefore, cost benefit analysis framework may be viewed as a practical tool that can be used to assess the projects’ desirability, especially in situations where a person has to make a long-term decision. 15.5.1 I prefer working in a team environment for the reason that it offers an enjoyable, cooperative, and friendly working environment. Besides that, team environment is suitable for offering solutions to worker’s questions and problems, and so increases efficiency. Team environment is beneficial because it provides better solutions and improved production, but it is plagued with intra- and inter-team conflict. On the other hand, the advantage of working individually is that it increase independence, and has no conflict, it is costly and lacks collaborative skills. 15.5.2 If given a chance, I would choose the most hardworking person because for a team to be successful, I must have the right team members. Success in team relies on the ability of people in the team and not the number of people, so I would not choose member based on friendship but based on their ability bearing in mind that team members have to share vision, common goals, timelines, as well as agendas (Abrams, 2003, p.317). Will choosing the team member, I will put the team needs before my individual needs, and will make sure I don’t favor a particular person because of the personal relationship we have. 15.5.3 Nelson Mandela became a leader after unanimously being elected as the African National Congress (ANC) president during the party’s national conference on 5 July 1991 (Nweje, 2013). Mandela was undoubtedly a charismatic leader for the reason that his he had a unique style of serving people, whereby he reached out to the regime of the white minority while still emphasizing the need for empowering the black majority, and all this was done peacefully. As a situational and servant leader, Mandela repelled the devastating pressure from his main party to downplay the violations on human rights carried out by exiled ANC cadres who were in control of detention camps where dissidents of ANC were detained.
