Saydet Al Najat Church The article describes the characters as happy and joyful. Hundreds of people, both Muslims and Christians, take to the streets to celebrate following the announcement of the arrest. The fact that scores of people are in the streets shows the level of happiness among the citizens. The people were celebrating showing they were joyful after hearing the good news. In the article, people play patriotic songs and launched fireworks in shops and residential areas. This clearly depicts the joyful mood of the characters. The police personnel are also happy for their achievement as in they had put vigorous efforts in the investigation and operations, as they finally succeeded. In the article writer again shows an element of joyfulness when Ali the sixty five years old woman accompanies her grandchildren to the celebrations (Mohammed, 2010). The old woman in the article is a patriot to her country as she says she is waiting for the day that all terrorists will face the arm of the law. She says this day will be important to her because it will prove to the whole world that Iraq does not support terrorism. The police force in the article proves to be persistent and determined in their efforts to hunt down the terrorists. In the article, it gets noted that the police made vigorous efforts and intensive intelligence gathering. This shows the police force got determined and dedicated to its work. Their hard work gets shown when they raided the five terrorist dens on the same day (Mohammed, 2010). This also shows that the police had a purpose that resulted into action. Their main purpose was to find the perpetrators of Saydet al najat church, and after their investigation and efforts they finally found them. The old lady Amina also depicts the purpose of the police when she says that each day a group of the terrorists got arrested and brought to justice. There is the use of sensory language in the article when the old lady says that she will celebrate without dancing, and she will shed tears out of happiness for the world to see she rejects terrorism. This statement involves the readers’ sense of sight as through this we can see her real picture crying tears of joy. Sensory language also gets used when the writer says hundreds of people were celebrating on the streets, and they were launching fireworks (Mohammed, 2010). Through this statement, the author gets to capture the sense of sound of the reader. One gets to imagine the noise that was prevailing in the area during the celebrations. The use of sensory language makes the article to become interesting for the reader. It provokes the reader to think and imagine the exact situation on the ground. It enhances the understanding of the article. There is the use of personification as a stylistic device in the article. The ministry of interior gets personified. In the article, it gets noted that the ministry of interior announced the arrest of the perpetrators (Mohammed, 2010). The ministry gets given human qualities and abilities as in the real sense it is the people in the ministry who announced. Personification also gets depicted when Talib says that the ugliness of the terrorist group will become exposed. The terrorists group gets given human abilities as it gets described as ugly. The article’s author uses active voice, and through the use of punctuation the reader gets to know the exact words a character says. In the article, the words of the police spokesperson get quoted to show that those were his real words. The sixty five years old woman also speaks and her words get quoted in the article to show her exact words (Mohammed, 2010). Abu also gets quoted when he says the terrorists had confessed in getting involved in the various attacks in the town. The creation of active voice in the article makes it more appealing, and it makes the story easy to understand. This helps the reader to determine the exact words that get said by a character in the article. It has made the article easy to interpret and comprehend. The old woman’s dialogue gets used to explain the war against terrorism in Iraq. The writer has used dialogue to stress the words of main characters in the article. It has helped the reader to understand the article. The author uses descriptive adjectives to make the article easy to understand. He employs the use of the word bloody to describe the nature of attacks. When describing the efforts of the police the words Vigorous and intensive get used. These words get used to describe the hard work of the police in their efforts to fight terrorism. The people in the streets get described as Joyful and happy. The adjectives get used to describe the characters, and it enhances the understanding of the article by the reader. The materials found in the terrorists hide outs get described as poisonous this describes the materials nature (Mohammed, 2010). The article structure has three parts; the beginning, middle and the ending. The article has a strong beginning. The introduction is brief and effective making the reader curious to read more of the story. The editor briefly explains why people are in the streets, but he does not give details. He touches on the main story but does not give whole of it. The body of the article gets well detailed. It gives all the details about the arrest and how it exactly happened. The middle part of the article presents the whole story of what occurred. It has all information there is to know about the arrest. The middle part is an excellent continuation of the introduction. The article has a proper ending. The editor has used the words of the old woman to conclude the story, and it has worked effectively as it is a brief explanation of the whole story. Conclusion The article is short and effective. The writer has given the whole story in detail. The article is well written, comprehensive, and explains how the perpetrators got arrested.
