Final Exam in Civic Engagement Q The worth of civic participation is quite necessary in value implementation through civic engagement. As a matter of fact, civic engagement is a value choice. This is because civic engagement entails thinking about how the society, the government and citizens interact with one another. It is through civic engagement that the citizens have their civic skills built in such a way that it will of a significant benefit to the society at large (Lindal 1). Moreover, civic engagement heightens voter participation and at the same time makes use of public service announcements to motivate volunteering which in turn strengthens civil society.

In a more elaborate explanation, civic engagement denotes the increasing civic participation so arrived at through encouraging involvement in civil society. Factually, civic engagement is important in the sense that through the increasing civic participation, disconnect between an individual and the community gets to be broken down. In the present time, social isolation has substituted community activities. As thus, a move to help break down this disconnect between the community and the individual is greatly valuable in ensuring that the community is adequately strengthened.

Resultantly, this strengthening of the community via civic engagement heightens the amount of active involvement within the community (Lindal 1). In addition, civic engagement fosters a stout community leadership, not only from the professionals, but also from the community organization leaders. These leaders offer the community a momentous advantage via the creation of a long-term vision geared towards snowballing civic engagement (Lindal 1). Besides, the ethic volunteerism borne of civic engagement compels individuals to avail themselves to offering their service to the community organizations, thus growing both the capacity and size of the engagement within the community.

One of the imperative reasons as to why civic education is beneficial for an organization is that is possesses the potential of strengthening the social fabric as well as the larger community as a whole (Lindal 1). Q.4 Civic engagement also plays a significant role in building both social capital and community capacity. As earlier mentioned, civic engagement entails the interaction between individuals and the society.in so doing, public participation is increased since members of the society are encourage to volunteer in various activities within the society.

Besides volunteering, participation can take the form of campaigns or even discussions of community issues among the members of the community. Through this, close community ties are not only built, but also nurtured, thus building the larger social capital within the community (Wilson 755). Civic engagement acknowledges the significance of the community and community relationships. Both of these inspire the community to grow and prosper. Civic participation puts the shared good over self-interest thus leading to mutual trust and respect for one another.

Furthermore, learning to listen each other, resolving conflicts in a peaceful way and overcoming barriers of suspicion and fear nurtured by civic engagements makes social capital to be productive (Wilson 757). Additionally, civic engagement plays a vital role in assisting use rise our potential. In so doing, it can be said that civic engagement is crucial in building community capacity. Social clubs, block associations, churches, civic groups and other groups in the community’s grassroots are likely to meet economic and social needs that resultantly upsurge the well-being as well as the community’s productivity capacity in such areas as social services, counseling, economic development and housing (Wison 759).

Conclusively, social capital is a necessity on upholding and augmenting the value of public goods. And as thus, there is a need to educate future generations about civic engagement and its significance, and more especially on the aspect of how the same aids in the building of a considerably strong society.
