RESEARCH PROPOSAL ON REASONS OF RAMPANT CAR ACCIDENTS INVOLVING THE DUBAI YOUTHS Investigators (First investigator name) (Email address) (Signature) (Second investigator name) (Email address) (Signature) Abstract: Riley, J. (1990): A Handbook of Practical Ideas on How to Analyze Qualitative Data: Technical and Educational Services Ltd Many people have been involved in research work with much concentration being focused on the general statistical numbers of accidents which occur in the various parts of the world. Due to this reason, there have been very few sources of information concerning the specific observations on accidents as per group categories as far as to reason causes of the incidents are concerned. Thus, it has taken our efforts to carry out a research which focuses on a youths issue in car accidents. This research is much concentrating on the establishment of the reasons which make most young people get involved in car accidents specifically in Dubai. The research proposal will then try to come up with wide range of several incidents which has involved youth in road accidents, so that it may establish the major causes of the accidents. It would try examining several conditions and environment under which young men in age brackets of teenagers to young married people have caused accidents in various cases. In the efforts to achieve highly reasonable reports which comprises of reliable data and results outcome, qualitative and quantitative methodologies will be applied. The will involves the quantitative establishment of the numbers of Accidents which the youth have fallen as victims. This will then be used as comparison tool of youth incidents with the other groups. The qualitative methodology will then enable the classification of each car accidents of youth as normal accidents which was cause by mechanical auto problem or abnormal accidents caused by the drives/ youth behaviours. Further studies would be on the conditions on which the youth would lead to establishment of various reasons of the causes of the accident in relation accident involvement. Things like driver’s experiences, speeds controls and dugs as well as others reason which may contribute to the road accidents will be highly considered in connection to incidents of youth. Introduction: Mutaery, K. (2000) Causes and effects of road traffic accidents in Saudi Arabia: Public Health publishers. The problem of car accidents in Dubai and other parts of the world have been an issue of debate in many state legislative houses. This is because every year there is increasing number of statistic data show that road accidents of the various states are increasing abnormally. Thus, car accident is now being depicted as one of the mania cause of death in most countries around the world. This means that use is not an exceptional one as victim of such road perils. The previous record on road accidents in Dubai and the surrounding countries indicates that the situation is not comparable with other region of the world. This means that the country experiences more of accidents which are not comparables with other states in the same level of development. The country has almost similar sort of vehicles which are used in other states in the development stage and it has same level of vehicles ownership. As this fact holds, it is therefore surprising with the higher result of car accident in the state. The traffic record reports and the news broadcasts are filled of information of car problem which are mostly involving people of the tender age of youth. Some of the incidents have caused the to instants accidents death while others would perish in the process of rescuing and rush to the hospitals. From the hospital cases of patients from roads accident, there are a few survivors who go through their aid. Thus, this is a major car problem to the Dubai citizens both as car drivers and passengers as well as pedestrians. Jones, J. (1982): Bad Blood: Free Press Numerous causes of car accidents have been establishment in the regions. This includes normal mechanical problems such break failure and lamp light instant blackout while driving. Other reason which have been aired to cause road accidents comprise of personal behaviours. This is common cause not only in the Dubai region but also in the worlds over. The personal behaviours such left many people suffering despite the enormous efforts for provision of roads safety. Some of the people have fallen victims of accidents due to lack of attention to the road users. Some drives and pedestrian do careless uses the roods without the paying attention and conscious of the numerous other things which natural may obstruct them. For most road users in Dubai, they have developed the habits of using cell phones, drinking of alcohol, playing of music from radio and even doing other things which distract their attention on concentrating on rapid issues of driving. These are some of the major detrimental acts which cause alarming destruction on roads. The destructions which are caused by these road accidents are very significant as they not bring impacts to family emotionally but they also affect the regions economically. They have additional cost to the government in the provision of medical services and insurance comparison as well as long term costing on taking care of these survivors who becomes disabled in the process. Robbins, G. (1997): Factors affecting the severity of motor vehicle traffic crashes involving young drivers. According to this escalating report of road accidents in Dubai, there is threat to future population on road users. This means a concern and corrective measure need to be taken of the situations. This is because a country without growing population on the youth is a dead country or impotent. The future of such a country is with no doubt that it has to face an enormous problem both in economic growth and trades issue due to production reductions. This implies that the correction measures would start by the establishment of the reason of wide occurrences of youth accidents. This will contribute to setting of the foundation of taking the correctives measures to ensures that they is road regulating which would guarantee all the citizens the appropriate roads safety which would lower the government expenditure and other organization burden. Methodology: Riley, J. (1990): A Handbook of Practical Ideas on How to Analyze Qualitative Data: Technical and Educational Services Ltd The statically analysis methodologies will be employed in this research which will enable to capture rhythms real picture on the happening of issues under the traffic record reports of accidents in the region. Methods to be used: Tversky, A. (1982): Judgment under Uncertainty: Cambridge University Press. The data would be collected through several ways which will combine the past’s retrieval of the previous works on roads accidents reports. Several departments in the various parts of the regions would be request for the review of the records on traffics accidents to establish the data on both ages and the reasonable commends which was furnished by the police traffics as the cause of the accident. Furthermore, the data will be collected through questionnaires where will be send to different people in the operation of traffic. They would be given a document to fill the questions. This participation would also include some of the survivors who got involved on such road incident. The combination of the two methods would be compared to establish if they are similar through the statistical methods of f-tests. Ethical considerations: Huberman, M. (1984): Qualitative Data Analysis: Sage publishers The research of this kind has a major impact on the researchers and the sources of the information. This is because some of this accident obvious brings a lot of controversies between the government, the family of victim and the victims who cause the incident. It is thus ethical to consider the entire factor such as secrecy of the data which is given by the various respondents especially from the questionnaires. This should not be a time to discover the wrongful hidden accidental unsolved problem as many people would be able to disclose. The language which will be used in the questionnaires should be welcoming not to hurt the victims’ emotions. In addiction the research data collection and report should protect the rights reputation of those whose are in authority, hence the person worlds need to obtain a validation permit letter to carry out the research from their departments. Timescale/research planning: Brannen, J. (1992): Qualitative and Quantitative Research Theory and Practice Date Activities 1st week Seeks permission from the various authorities collect the materials required such papers and other research materials 2nd week Draft the questionnaires Conduct the various speculated respondents 3rd week Send the questionnaires to the respondents Visit the various traffic transportation office to reviews their records 4th week Collect the filled questionnaires by respondents from different points Compile and record the data from the questionnaires 5th week Analysis of the data recorded both from questionnaires and review traffic report records Dissemination and outcome: Milgram, S. (1974): Obedience to Authority: Harper & Row. The findings from this research will of paramount important to the public especial to the youth. This research result would therefore be furnished to the ministry of transport and others related organizations responsible in the provision of safety on the roads, so that it can help in the mitigation of youth road accidents in the future times. Each of the traffic departments at the various UAE regions will be furnished with a copy of the report if necessary so that it may try to be vigilant on those young people on traffic rules observation.
