Engineering management Name: Lecturer: Course: Institution: Date: Number of words (1357) Environmental factors to consider in planning for a telecommunication company Economic trends in telecommunication companies are defined by the demographic trend of the management of the organization. Therefore, the most critical factors that affect the developments are the keys factors that the managers should consider in analyzing and planning the growth of the company. In as much as the managers need to develop the company development, there is a need to consider the factors that would otherwise help in promoting the growth of the company. The factors that they need to consider affect the company’s development directly and indirectly in that they all pass through different channels and levels of management. The dimension in which the economy of the company is driven is one part; the telecommunication company needs to have a health economic development as well as the growth of the organization. The purchasing power of the consumers and the unemployment rate in an organization in more defined way give the true face of the environment in which the organization is operating. In a way, economic recession is the major determinant that the consumers rate their confidence in, which defines the manger frequency in the acquisition of the managerial skills. In other cases, legal-political is one of the dimension in which defines the growth of an organization. This ranges from local, federal or state levels that are related to the influential behavior of the company. The political system in the Australian government encourages capitalism thus trying not over regulating the businesses. However, this approach is questionable considering that it can lead to the breakdown of the economy. Thus, if there were imposing the legal-political influences to the organization would mean that there would be a fight to struggle in the upgrading of the company economy. Precisely, there would be differences in the company development that will be determined by the legal political dimension approach to the organization. Thus, the organizational behavior of the managers is defined by the pressure groups that rely on the consumer and environmental behavior of the company. There are those elements that occur naturally to the company management that define the future of the company and are increasingly affect the growth of the company. These factors are in natural dimension, which are environmentally defined groups. This means these groups are the key determinants of the natural dimension since it does not have a voice of its own. In various ways the environmental groups focus on the development of the different levels, which range from sustainable management, clean-up and minimizing the human pollution that in many ways are the keys determinant to growth and development in the telecommunication sector. Of the recent, the climate change caused by the green house gases is a prove that though this is a natural factor is in a way a product of the environmental group that is majorly human. Social cultural behavior of the consumers is another major factor that determines in a more way the development and the future of the company. In the social cultural relationship, the telecommunication company may require the managers to have proper definition of web surfers and opening of the new markets in the world. In addition, in the socio cultural environment there is risk of terrorism as well as development of the wireless lifestyles (Richard, & Dorothy, 2010. Pp. 54-59). In all society, the development of the company lifestyle is the determinant to the future development and the growth of the company. In deeper way, the telecommunication company should consider the competitors in the market that the company has within a given region. For example, Telstra has Telkom, which is the major competitor, and they fear the completion form other fiber network suppliers. Thus, offering contract to the competitor then the issue of monopoly would be greatly reduced. Therefore, the company management should try to lower the competitive nature to cover the competitors in the market. This would be achievable through splitting of the managerial levels of the main company. Thus, this becomes another key factor that the management should consider in defining the future of the company in the planning level. Competitors in the telecommunication company is the key factor that the managers should be on the look out to check in case of any major changes that may come up in the management. Plans to make in this situation for Telstra Telstra as a telecommunication, the manager should focus on mainstreaming the key areas that the company needs to focus in developing its future development. This way Telstra should focus on the market completion from Telkom, which is the key competitor to analyze its business level in the market. In addition, Telstra should consider economic dimension of the company as away to achieve the maximum profit in the market (Pietro, & Franz, 2010. P. 199). This is to mean that Telstra should try to have the company divided into two levels of management. The company should have the section that should be dealing with the network and the other which should offer the customer services. Critically, there is a need that as the manager should have a managerial strategy that I will need to have in planning of the company to develop both financially and strategically. This is to mean that as the Telstra manager proper planning and managing the two divisions of the company from one managerial level is the key factor in determining the future and the success of the company. Since the government is targeting the monopolies in the companies then as a manager, I will need to focus on winning the population consumer in our network. The planning process Essentially, as Telstra manager the major planning process I should consider is the use of scenario analysis in the business planning. This way the company will have long-term plans for the company. These long-term plans will be included in the scenario planning which allows the executives in proper planning as well as exploring different futuristic development alternatives. Using the scenario analysis, Telstra’s manager would be requiring having a perfect market scenario that would examine the company operating strategies (Andrew, 2010. P. 45). In addition, the plan to use contingency planning process in the company is another key plan the manager would need in planning (Lawrence, & Carl, 2008. Pp. 160-165). It would help the manager in analyzing the changes that would be sudden in the market as well as assessing the disruptions in the business while devising the proper means that Telstra would use to deal with the case. To avoid the dangers of simplistic, then Telstra would require using the scenario analysis as well as contingency planning to avoid planning that is one-dimensional. Therefore, this would mean that the mangers could brainstorm the “what-if” cases thus developing strategies that would create hypothetical action to the company. The need to use participatory planning Collaborative relationships with the people is main area that as the Telstra we need to focus in planning on how develop the future of the company. Therefore, a participatory means of approach is the key defining factor in the development plan for the growth and future of the company. This would mean that Telstra would require including its expertise in people collaboration with the company. Thus, Telstra would have a strong relationship with the people that will see the future development and success over the competitors. In their approach, Telstra should focus on the risks that the company has to the community and in a way act with compensatative approach to the community (Aswathappa, 2010. Pp 65-69). Expertise would be required in such areas that the company will need in its plan to use the participatory approach in its plan to development. The reason as to why participatory approach will be necessary for Telstra is that the company will need to have engagement of the stakeholders and analysis of the consumer socio-cultural behavior. Therefore, for the company to have proper planning there will be a need to focus on the participatory and the engagement criteria that the stakeholders and development of the consultation programs in the company on development goals.
