Negotiation Negotiation is an effort made to arrive at an agreement from two sides commonly in workplaces where two parties want their solutions to be considered the prime. What I think negotiation requires is cooperate understanding and preparing well as far as an opponent and other party positions are concerned. I consider being precise, polite and positive attitude can decrease the hardness of the opponents. Some attitudes are portrayed to opponents to win their ability to listen. The attitudes; honesty, keeping calm, openness and portraying respect to opponents. In the course, I realized that after giving negotiation a trial, the practice can help to solve conflicts in organizations. The involved parties need to mutually understand each other without a compromise and incorporating respectful and kind body languages. I consider language, understanding and voice variation to play a very significant role in negotiation since they influence communication positively. Being assertive in stating position is very crucial in negotiation. Another aspect of negotiation that needs to be considered before engaging in one is preparing adequately. This helps comprehend the business background and where to start, what to expect and where to finish. In negotiation preparation other parties issues, arguments and concerned to bring about mutual benefits for the mutual discussion. Constructive and healthy inputs from the two parties hence mutually worthy solutions. Through experience, I realized that elements of differentiating where to start and end a negotiation. Procedural negotiation gives the two parties an insight of what need to be expected after a negotiation. However, clarity and honesty in communication through the negotiation facilitates healthy negotiation. Developing alternatives helps in making sure that the decisions made are in a position to achieve the set objective. However, I need to improve my relations in the process of coming up with the most appropriate decision outcome. Interviewing I realized that Preparation and teamwork of interviewers are very critical for an interview to be successful. Clarifications need to be made on who to take the first opportunity to of interview not to bring confusion. Prior preparation and obtaining the subject matter, aims, reasons and expectations of the panel all through and after the interview. Interview need to be planned to get the right information. Content or subject matter need to be shared well amongst the panelist to obtain the set expectations of the interview. However, preparation of interview needs to highlight the questions to be asked and broadly the structure of the interview. Every panelist’s role needs to be specified and made equally significant to enhance moderation of the interview. I learned that talking and listening need to be done by interviewee and interviewer respectively. Also, in it has to be noted that the interviewer is the one probes an exercise and listening to obtain the best information from the interviewee. The biased interview can be as a result of interviewer jumping into conclusions and having words in the mouth of the interviewee. The leader of an interview needs to coordinate every activity taking place in an interview to enhance order in posing questions and listening interviewees answers. I realized that panelists need to familiarize themselves with content and probing techniques to avoid ambiguity in question asking. I have experience in the recruitment process. Recruitment and Selection Selection and recruitment processes require priorities because they determine the worthiness of an organization to have the best person at each level. In recruitment process equal opportunities to all candidates need to be given not based on religion, gender and nationality. I learned that the recruitment process possesses several stages; being clear on what kind of candidate needed and also defining the roles, personal profile, job description, and analysis. Making clear the salary, objection, and responsibilities to help employees start job quickly. Also, letting the potential candidates be aware of the recruitment. This can be done either done internally or externally. Selection is the second last stage picking of the right person is done after assessment or meeting technologies. In this workshop, I learned appointment making and checking everything is done and place to their respective positions. The process of recruitment and selection may save cost and time for the organization if candidates recruited need no training. In the process of improving my recruitment and selection skills, I have attended recruitment workshops to enhance my recruitment capabilities. I learned the need for considering employee competencies where I will the skills to ensure I recruit the best candidate in my organization. Managing Change and Redundancies In the process of coping with changes in management and economic environment shareholders decisions and new policies play a very significant role. I learned that redundancies need to be well addressed to reduce conflict between outgoing employees and the organization’s management. To reduce disputes between employees and the management an understanding of the changes need to be created to enhance equity and fairness (Kehoe and Wright, 2013). Employees need to be helped accept redundancies and changes to reduce disputes and misunderstanding. I realized that in the process of reducing conflict caused by changes and redundancies and organization management may adopt, considering early retirement to those who volunteer and hold on recruitment for a period. Also, the management needs to be aware of the law and policies that help address disagreements. This process of managing redundancies and changes in an organization possess a wave of demotivation and mistrust. In an attempt to counter the wave, communication plays a significant role which can be made public or internally in an organization. I have realized that redundancies are caused because of changes in an industry. I therefore consider managing change as the most appropriate strategy in the process of redundancies. Redundancies have negative impact on the performance of any organization hence the need to make sure they are proper managed. This because of the increasing technological advancements taking place in the industry. Problem solving As a human resources practitioner problem-solving abilities are crucial in the process of developing a healthy working environment for the employees. I have been exposed to different decision making situations to solve various problems that have shaped decision-making skills. Based on my experiences in decision making I think I have the necessary decision-making skills that are necessary for ensuring improvement in the organizational performance. Therefore, I consider myself as an effective problem solver based on the fact that I have been exposed to different problem-solving situations that have enabled me to develop the appropriate problem-solving skills. I have the abilities to look at a problem in different viewpoints to obtain the best solution making me an effective problem solver. I have learned the tactics that I can apply in the process of improving my problem-solving skills. For instance, I realized the benefits of making sure that I engage other people through giving them the necessary time to explain themselves as I listen. As a result, through improved listening, I can be in a better position to make good decisions that can help in solving the problem (Chen and Huang, 2009). The areas that I need to improve include learning how to manage my emotions. I am very emotional in the process of making decisions aimed at addressing problem hence I need to manage emotions to improve my problem-solving skills. References Chen, C.J. and Huang, J.W., 2009.
