Listening and problem solving techniques and competencies Part B: Brand Image Analysis I am a female aged 27 years old. My country of origin is Australia. I have been with my boyfriend for 4 years. Currently, we are planning to start a family. Unfortunately, I had a miscarriage where I lost our potential child. I work as a Workforce Manager at Energy Australia within the Enterprise PMO sector of the corporation. In order to stay physically fit, I engage in some external activities such as running marathons. I am currently training for the Melbourne full marathon. I am also taking this course as my final subject in the pursuit of a Diploma in Business. I am about 1.4 metres tall. I like office clothes to look presentable in the course of executing my duties as the workforce manager. In addition, I do not wear perfume and heavily scented products to make the right impression in the business context. I do not like to smell like smoke because of the clothing I pick up the odour hence the need to groom my hair, hand, fingernails, and appropriate jewellery for the right business occasions and settings. I like the upright posture in relation to the work environment and learning context. This is because of the need to enhance my self-confidence in the course of handling relevant duties and obligations. I am not good at facial expressions since some are difficult to understand because of the diverse backgrounds and cultural differences. In some instances, I use gestures for the nonverbal communication with my learning mates and workers within the business entity. This is essential in communicating effectively and efficiently within the organisation as well as the learning institution. Interactions are essential components of communication towards the achievement of objectives. In the context of interaction with workers and clients, I tend to express substantial confidence because of the ability to communicate effectively. In addition, I am able to appear presentable with the aim of enhancing the image and reputation. Currently, I seek to develop various rapports with the workers and clients towards the achievement of the collective goals and objectives of the company. I like to use English to communicate effectively and efficiently within the organisation. In some contexts, I usually write or develop power point presentations to pass across the essential points to the target audiences within the organisation. I am working as the Workforce Manager to enhance my experience in the field of human resource management. I tend to demonstrate and exploit ethical leadership in interacting with the stakeholders and shareholders. Part C: Creating a Strategy I would focus on increasing my visibility at the workplace with the aim of aiding the achievement of the collective goals and objectives in the market and industry of operation. This is through coming in on time, keeping my head low, doing my duties, and demonstrating that I am a team player. I am sure my boss will realize my dedication towards the accomplishment of the societal goals and objectives for the achievement of the competitive advantage within the energy industry in the context of Australia. Since most of these approaches do not work well in the modern society, I will seek to adopt and implement an effective strategy towards increasing my visibility at work (Yu 2004, p. 117). This is because of the need to exploit the benefits of visibility at work such as promotion, recognition, and reward. The ability and strategy to maximize my exposure to the right people and opportunities within the workplace will enable me to achieve the desired visibility within the company. Visibility at the workplace focuses on the ability to position oneself in the right place with the aim of making the next best move in the career development. In the course of achieving this element, I will focus on the utilization of six techniques and mechanisms. The first approach will be to volunteer for the execution of the special programs within the human resource management. Since the organisation is large enough, there are diverse actions taking place outside my professional desk or the cube department. I will focus on looking for the special projects that I can be part of to enhance my name, skills, and performance in front of the people who can help me make horizontal and vertical career moves within the organization and industry (Messmer 2004, p. 13). In addition, I will focus on sharing information with the people outside my normal professional and personal network. It is ideal to gain insights in other areas of operations with the aim of generating new networks for the possibility of making quality moves within the professional careers and development. It would also be essential to attend the optional meetings as well as events to enhance my visibility at work. This is through showing up at the optional meeting, listen, contribute, and introduce myself to the congregation with the aim of capturing the attention of the critical individuals within the company and the industry (Colgan & McKearney 2012, p. 361). Another essential development approach for the increase of the visibility within the company would relate to asking for bigger as well as better assignments. In case of any new project, I will take the first move and ask for the leading role in the completion of the project. This will enable me to improve my leadership techniques while increasing my visibility within the working environment (Scharf & Bell 2002, p. 328). I would also consider starting a group of ambitious professionals looking to connect and interact within the workforce. The approach will be ideal for the development of my careers and position within the organisation. Finally, I will consider tooting my own horn within the organisation to become visible to the relevant authority and management fraternity with the aim of making the best career move within the company as well as the energy industry in the case of Australia (Market Research Best Practices 2006, p. 42). Career Goals i. To become one of the most effective and efficient workforce managers within the energy industry in the case of Australia ii. To enhance my communication skills with the aim of interacting with the workforce effectively and efficiently iii. To develop quality management networks for the development of my career iv. To become successful in my management position within the energy industry in Australia Training and Development Plan In order to develop relevant skills and expertise for the management of the workforce with the company, I will focus on adhering to the following training and development plan: i. Technical training ii. Proficiency training iii. In-house training iv. Outside Training v. Developmental Training vi. Coaching and Mentoring Image Analysis I plan to look presentable for the business work environment with the aim of becoming more visible at the workplace. In addition, I would also focus on enhancing my confidence levels, communication skills, and interpersonal relations to interact effectively and efficiently with the workforce with the human resource department. I will also learn how to utilize gestures and facial expression for effective nonverbal communication within the workforce. It is essential to enhance my networking within the company to become more visible. This is through formation of new professional groups and utilization of the social media to connect appropriately with other professionals in the management context. Part D: Networks Currently, I am a member of the work team network, regional meeting of the workforce managers, union meeting at the workplace, and workforce welfare network. These networks are essential in the achievement of credibility, advocate about issues, and improve the performance of the employees as they work towards the achievement of the common goals and targets within the industry and markets of operation. Some of the ways of extending my professional network within the human resource department is through engagement in the social media platforms, formation and joining of appropriate networking groups within the profession, and participation in the seminars and professional gatherings. Some of the professional networks, which I can join, include social media platforms or networks and LinkedIn for quality profession within the organization and energy sector. I would adopt and implement three critical strategies in the achievement of these goals: technological strategies, workers unions, and teams.
