The paper "Korean Education System" is an outstanding example of an education research proposal. The Korean education system is in crisis. Students and pupils are continuously becoming estranged from their education. Teachers have also lost pride in and pleasure from teaching; hence, they have been forced out because of bureaucratic restructuring. Moreover, there is great concern from parents in relation to their children’s happiness. Besides being concerned about their children’s low quality of education in the country (Lew, 2006).

What is more, there is an explicit disparity in the quality of education attained by children from rich families and those from poor economic backgrounds. This is because the rich take their children to private schools while the poor ones take theirs to public schools. Consequently, poor students and parents are increasingly becoming desperate for a better education because of the widening gap in the Korean education system (Seth, 2002).). Furthermore, according to Dronkers (2010), the Korean system is in crisis because of the high competition between private and public schools.

Many people believe that their children can succeed in private and tuition-based institutions than in public schools. Therefore, a majority of them have decided to transfer their children to private schools. As a result, many poor parents are left worrying about their children’s academic fate since they cannot afford to pay for expensive private education. There are arguments that private education offers high-quality education, and get more enrollments in universities than public schools (Seth 2010).

The wonderful educational enthusiasm of parents has led to the world’s highest literacy rate and calculative skills. For instance, according to the results of the PISA test, Korean students are the highest achievers. This is evidenced by the fact that Korean students the highest achievers in the PISA test (Development, 2010). Nonetheless, this education system suppresses students’ imagination and creativity. Therefore, there is an urgent need for keeping up with the global competition by improving the present education system (Dronkers, 2010).

This study is instrumental in fully understand the kind of problem that Korean education is facing. This is in relation to the emphasis given to university entrance and pursuance of private education, rather than focusing on the development of a whole individual to fit in the competitive world. This, further, concerns the kind of missions that private education and public schools are pursuing. She guided me through how to formulate research questions while giving examples of already completed studies She advised on the left out the part concerning character education and suggested the most appropriate research questions. She guided me on how to write a Ph.D. by using her own example and others. She stressed the significance of having a time table. We discussed how to go about the literature review and possible literature review body.

We discussed data collection and potential areas of collecting it. Follow-up Tasks: to identify the main key research question and draft a short piece (no longer than two A4 sides) to write a clear rationale for my research topic and study questions to support my rationale with concrete references to indicate potential literature bodies relevant to my area of study to decide on the sample sizes and the possible participants to create a timescale for my research
