Rtotal = 40 Ω

40 Ω + 10 Ω= 50 Ω

2-3

For sections 2-1, Rtotal is 40 Ω while for 2-2, Rtotal is 50 Ω.

2-4

VRtotal = 7.9 V, VRtotal = 7.9 V and VRtotal = 7.9 V

They are all equal because the voltage drop on parallel resistors should be the same.

2-5

The voltage across the 10 Ω is 2V. Which is almost equal to 10 - 7.8= 2.1 V which is about 2V.

Yes. This is because it is a parallel circuit and therefore it has a reduced resistance.

DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION

From the experiment, the resistors did not behave like ohmic resistors because from the graph of V against I the slopes did not pass through the zero intercepts. This may have been due to some technical problems with the DMM.
