Before making any speech one needs to understand the audience in terms of the value belief and the context of the audience. In preparing a speech for a diverse audience one needs to find out the jargon used. For example in a college different courses have the different words they use. One needs to find a common ground. 7.1.1 Rhetoric situation is to be considered in the preparation of a speech. This ensures that one is not caught off guard. Especially by the questions asked. 7.1.2 When giving an explanation about the tattoos to an audience I shall prepare the speech with the particular audience in mind. If it is for school children it shall be more detailed than the speech for college because the school children do not understand the topic. 7.2.2 A speaker was lacking in the three elements when addressing the mourners in a funeral service I attended. The speech could be improved by way of incorporating the pathos part. This would perfectly suit the event. 7.2.3 Ethics are an important component of any speech delivered (University of Canberra 16). This is because the different ethical dilemmas can cause a speech not to be delivered properly. If an audience proposes that the speaker uses unethical manner of presentation this may adversely affect the outcomes. 7.3. 1The speech that used the five structural elements of speech is a speech delivered by Martin Luther King, titled, I have a Dream. This is because Martin understood the audience and the purpose of the speech he was delivering. His message was specifically focused on the American democracy and through the use of emotions his message was delivered properly to the target audience. 7.3.2 The speech delivered by the president Reagan, Tear down this wall, is a speech that calls for a lot of improvement in many ways. Though the audience was right, Reagan could have thought of a better way of presenting his views. The focus could be on more peaceful ideas rather than the title which in itself is provocative. The speech did not reach the target audience since it did not receive the media coverage and hence he could have utilized other ways of airing views like writing a press release. He could have discussed it also at a conference with the relevant authorities. President Reagan could also have employed the correct emotions while addressing the people, instead of anger. 7.3.3 Organization is very important in the speech delivered. There is need for coherence of ideas from the last sentence to the last sentence. This means if the last idea is given first it may alter the functionality of speech. The speech may also involve very sensitive ideas that may trigger the reaction of people especially in places involving politics. 7.4.1 The summary of my daily activities The day has been quite interesting. I was almost late in waking up. This made me hurry through my morning cleaning duties before I left for school. I attended the two classes I had in the morning. I spent the rest of the day in the library and managed to finish three tasks that we were given in class. Works Cited Mclean,S. The Basics of Interpersonal Communication. 2005.
