As earlier indicated, the growth of globalization is a result of increased creation of new technologies, as well as the reduction of trade barriers. It is important to note that the emergence of cybercrime was a result of the inception of the worldwide web. For instance, it is because of globalization that opportunities of cybercrime have been increased over the years. A number of reports indicate that software tools can be purchased easily in the current world through the web. Based on this fact, users are given the chance of overcoming password protection or even locating open ports. With the availability of such software tools, a great number of individuals are attracted to be part of the cybercrime team. In addition, with the tools, one does not have to possess the special computing skills in order to take part in cybercrime. For example, research indicates that the proprietors of Mariposa, the largest hacking group, lacked the advanced skills of hacking (McClure, Scambray, & Kurtz, 2012). With the further advancements of technologies courtesy of globalization, it is argued that it is becoming difficult to limit the widespread availability of such software tools. In addition, it is hard to trace the perpetrators of cybercrime based on the anonymity given to them by the internet (Pfleeger & Lawrence, 2006). Concerning cybercrime, it is clear that technology is reshaping the personal relationship of the user and technology in a negative way. Although the advancements in technology have been beneficial for the growth of various aspects of the society, cybercrime forms one of the limitations. With the increase in the creation and availability of online software to commit cybercrime, most people feel insecure with their online personal data. Apart from that, with increased cases of child pornography, which is part of cyber crime, most of the parents that are affected have lost their trust with the advancements in technology (George & Bruce, 2008). This is a clear indication that due to globalization, technology is negatively reshaping the personal relationship of users and technology. Work done to address the topic of cybercrime As earlier indicated, technological advancements has contributed to the growth of social online vices such as cybercrime. For instance, it is worth noting that globalization is responsible for advancements in technology together with the limitations associated to the advancements, such as cybercrime. There is an increase in cybercrime, especially in most of the developed countries such as the United States of America. The increase is supported by the availability of the software tools to commit the crimes as well as the willingness of individuals to be part o the perpetrators. For this reason, a number of researchers have extensively addressed the cybercrime topic as an issue of globalization. Work that have been done by researchers on this topic include the history of cybercrime, the nature of the crime, how big the issue is, as well as the perpetrators of the crime among others (George & Bruce, 2008). The origin of cyber crime is traced back in the 1970. Research shows that the internet has tremendously grown in less than two decades from being a curious aspect to becoming a crucial element of modern life for million of individuals. It is argued that with this, space has been left for a number of abuses, one of them being cybercrime. From the time cybercrime was introduced in the technology world, the vice has always been on the increase for over the years. In addition to that, studies on the nature of cybercrime indicate that it is becoming an easy task for one to participate in as years go by. It is argued that the key requirement for one to participate in cybercrime is the relevant software tools. It is vital to point out that one does not require specialized computing skills in order to take part in cybercrime. Another aspect that is part of the nature of cybercrime is the fact that the crime does not recognize any geographical boundaries. This greatly explains why the issue is spreading at a faster rate in the world. Additionally, it is believed that it is the nature of cybercrime for the perpetrators to be hardly traced by law. This is because the internet gives them anonymity. Other than that, it is argued that cybercrime is linked to a number of online abuses such as phishing, hacking, child pornography, copyright infringement, and child grooming (Pfleeger & Lawrence, 2006). On the intensity of the issue, reports indicate that cybercrime is rapidly spreading in the world. It is argued that the increase in the availability of the software tools for carrying out the crime is a clear indication that the crime is on the increase. Although most developed countries such as the United States of America have come up with ways of curbing the issue, the trend is increasing especially among the youth. The increase in cybercrime is a great threat to the security of people (Brenner, 2010). Research found out that the perpetrators of cybercrime are individuals who get access to the technology that leads to the vice. For instance, it is argued that one does not necessarily need the assistance of other people to take part in cybercrime; all that is needed is the technology. Other than that, the perpetrators of cybercrime include those who create, sell the software tools and those that purchase the tools. It is argued that the circulation of the software tools is on the rise globally, which is an indication that the perpetrators are in the loose within the society (McClure, Scambray & Kurtz, 2012). Based on the discussion, it is clear that the inception and growth of cybercrime has been triggered by globalization. This is because cybercrime is a result of technological advancements, which is a result of globalization. Due to globalization, internet services and computers are in almost all corners of the world. This offers a viable ground for cybercrime activities. For instance, it is because of technological advancements that software tools in committing cybercrimes are easily available.
