The most significant step that industry should take to develop the competence of their market is to build up a marketing plan which will direct them to allocate their market assets and time. The tourism industry can succeed only if the number of consumers increases. Changes have to be brought in with a strategic marketing approach. Conventional marketing ways have to be replaced by modern approaches. The goods and services have to be planned according to the desires and requirements of the customers.

The industry must pay attention to the people who wish to accept their services rather than focusing on the whole population and must expand marketing activities that will help to attain their industry objectives. To assess the commercial viability of the marketing and business efforts to improve the acceptability of Souths Downs National Park and develop a comprehensive set of business recommendations that can be implemented to improve the business acceptability of the parks. The development of the Animal riding facility in the park and to make it a commercially viable product is what the Researcher is considering to research.

“There are two main types of protected landscapes in England and Wales. These are Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and National Parks. There are 40 AONBs and 11 National Parks in England and Wales. The area we call the South Downs includes the Sussex Downs and East Hampshire Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty”. (southdownsonline.org, 2010). The national park consists of rare species of certain animals which are not found in any other region. Hence there is a need to take probable steps in order to preserve and protect the wild life here and provide a favourable condition of life to these animals. .“One of the key general principles for the establishment of a National Park is that it should be close to centres of population and should offer recreational opportunities for people from all social and economic backgrounds – including the disabled.

” (southdownsonline. org, 2006, P.14).  The new South Down National Park is situated in one of the highly peaceful landscapes which were not noticed from many years. “The South Downs National Park has existed as an idea for over 60 years. In 1947 it was one of 12 areas of England recommended for park status by Sir Arthur Hobhouse, and it was the only one of the original twelve not to gain that recognition in the years that followed. In 1956 it was considered for inclusion but the proposal was set aside on the lame (and, as time has shown, patently incorrect) grounds that it didn’t have adequate recreational prospects.

” (Bryson 2007). But later in the year 1962, it was recognized as a place for its excellent natural beauty and was renovated to attain all safeguarding measures of a national park. This national park has the capacity to attract over forty million tourist visitors1 annually which is really high when compared to other national parks. Taking into account this factor alone, it can be said that it is rational to make the park bigger in size. The present era is witnessing the destruction of different ecologically rich areas and destinations.

It has only been a few decades since there has been recognition of the necessity to protect and preserve the environment and the cultural heritage of various regions. “The South Downs is recognized as one of the most important chalk landscapes in England and most of the area has been designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and this is a proposed National Park”. (South downs ESA, 2010). These areas have been recognized and preserved only after the passage of certain environment protecting legislations by Britain.

“If National Park Designation is eventually confirmed, and whatever the agreed boundary, fundamental issues remain concerning the way in which the National Park should be managed and funded. As the downs landscape has been managed and protected over time by local people and their elected representative it is highly appropriate that these issues be properly discussed and resolved before the National Park comes into being”. (Wilkins & Cartwright 2003, p.5).  The national park has been designed to its present condition by the human settlers in that area and by the land managers.

Most of the national parks in Britain have been created by the efforts and hard work of the agriculturists of that area. There are also land managers who stay and put their efforts to remake and improve this national park. Without the hard work and ideas of these people, the ecological variety, and land amenity, the leisure possibility of this National Park would have been of no value. These people recognize the prospective of land-use policies for the communal use. It has been accepted by them that these policies have the potential to safeguard the people of that area from the dangerous activities of others and also the ill effects of their acts.

Balanced and practical strategy will expand only by means of enduring realistic knowledge and with the Managing persons are putting great efforts to provide this to the National Park Authority.
