Extract of sample "Christo and Jeanne Claude Art Work"

Christo and Jeanne Claude are two great environmental artists who have contributed immensely to the artwork. These two are a couple born on the same day and with a similar passion for the world of art. They have worked tirelessly to reflect their passion for the environment using artwork. One of the greatest arts that they will be remembered for is the gates of central park. This provides a colorful scene that attracted millions of visitors enchanted by the beauty of nature. The feature contains 7500 gates each with steel posts and an umbrella all colored in orange. These posts are sixteen feet high with heavy nylon fabric stationed at regular intervals, or irregularly depending on the overhanging branches (Cross).

Christo and Jeanne stipulated that their artwork does not really reflect anything, but just a scene displaying beauty. Although some speculate that their artwork signified many things, Jeanne and Christo insisted that their work was purely for attracting people by providing beautiful scenery. They wanted people to feel the beauty of art different from what is displayed in the museum. Truly, this was one of the most magnificent scenes created through artwork by real professionals.

While walking through this scenery, one feels like he or she is close to art or inside art itself. One feels like a picture itself while walking through the gates. This complements the natural nature that surrounds the gate. It is so interesting to see people going in and out of these colorful scenes that look like simple yet complex models. As the wind blows, the umbrella-like structure in the art is blown making the scene even more worthwhile. It is a creative art that incorporates the essence of nature and at the same time artificial beauty. The gates run up and down and are visible from both sides even though there are some meanders that make some gates quite invisible. This makes it possible to experience the provided space intricately in three dimensions.

Speculation on whether the gates are environmentally conservative has raised several critiques from either side. It is true that their work may not have done much to conserve the environment, but it is also disputable that they have degraded the environment. While constructing these gates, some trees and other organisms had to be removed from the scene to create more space for the gates. Likewise, the paths inside the gates have been modified to create footpaths so that people may walk through them comfortably. The other fact that they used steel and cloth to make these gates may not reflect a passion for the environment. Nonetheless, it is worth taking note that the construction was well planned to ensure that the gates did not waste much of nature.  The gates were built in such a way that fewer trees were cut by following trails where few or no trees exists. This gives people the privilege to enjoy nature while at the same time enjoying the essence of art.

Steve Bradley’s art

Another renowned environmental artist is Steve Bradley. He is a creative environmental artist who makes use of trash to make pieces of art. He has done a variety of artworks using garbage and other trash. He is enthusiastic about a clean environment and would often trace the owners of the trash and send them postcards. He has made remarkable artwork in the green museum. One of the chief arts made by Bradley is ‘informed by the discarded. It consists of a bed-like structure surrounded by pictures and other green tree-like pieces of art. The site looks real and almost unbelievable that it is actually made of waste or discarded materials (Green museum.org).

His kind of art is different from Christo and Jeanne’s work in that he makes use of garbage and not fresh materials. Likewise, his art uses much less space as compared to Christo and Jeanne’s gates. Although both represent a sense of beauty, Bradley is more environmentally conserved. He is a creative individual who is able to make the best out of what people regard as garbage. Human interaction in his work is minimal as people see his work in the exhibition. On the other hand, Christo’s work is more of a reality than just an exhibition. People are able to interact with his art and feel part of the art or as if they are inside art.

The above two art works reflect the efforts made by environmentalists but are represented in differing aspects. The gates represent a new kind of human and environmental interaction through creative art. Christo and Jeanne allow people to interact with nature while experiencing the beauty availed through artwork. On the other hand, Bradley prepares a new kind of art to inform people about the need to maintain a clean environment. All in all, both represent some of the profound modern arts.
