EXECUTIVE SUMMARYGiving awards to students contribute greatly to the society. An award is something every student would want. It is something every student dreams to have. It is an honour received by a student for his/her hard work put into studies. Awards, not only, help the awardees gain recognition, but also, the awarder; advertisement. This is a tit for tat game. Giving awards help to bring the company closer to the people. The society begins to feel a sense of belonging in the company. This would be advantageous to the company because the people would begin to believe that the company has them at heart as it tries to serve them.
And it will also bring the knowledge of the existence of the company to more people. INTRODUCTIONIn modern times, learning has become the major part of our daily life. Right from the kindergarten stage of schooling, we start life’s journey by learning how to transit from our domicile to a more formal educational system. Then go through the primary and secondary stages, to the university stage of schooling, where we do research and higher learning. We spend most of our early life in school studying so that we can become better people in the future.
The minimum school life expectancy in the world is 7.5 years in eastern and southern Africa, while in the industrial countries it is 12.6 years (Huebler 2005). Studying is not an easy task. It takes time and dedication to understand what we are being taught. Sometimes, we have to go to grave lengths to achieve in our various academics, but at the end of the day, we smile at our achievements because we would have made, possibly, landmarks in our fields of study. Awards are, sometimes, given to students to congratulate them for their achievements.
Awards given to students contribute greatly to their efforts put into learning. It is something every student would want. It is something every student dreams to have. When an honour is received by a student for his/her hard work in studies, it is a thing of joy, gladness and happiness to that student. It helps the student boost their status in their society.
It gives them recognition. GIVING AWARDSWe can look at the art of giving awards from different points of view. First and foremost, it is something done to boost the recognition status of the student (Rubens 2007). For many students, at first, they seem to see themselves in one light. They are like a ship with no captain. But when an award is given to one of them, the person stands out. The person, now, becomes the captain of the ship. The person is their mentor, their yardstick. Now, every student would want to be either like that person or more. Giving awards can be used to fill the resume or transcript of the student (Streich 2009).
In the world today, more and more people are trying to portray themselves as genuine and there is no better way to show this than to present your awards. Your awards portray a sense of dignity and excellence.
