The Sea sweet is one of the best full-service cafes that is located at 358 Church Street in Parramatta. The cafe features a coffee house which is constructed to have a very attractive dessert bar ,variety of magazines to keep the customers busy as they await to be served and a large space where live performances took place. The coffee shop had an extension of a restaurant where full menus were featured and the nature of cooking the foods was mostly influenced by the African and the French methods of cooking but the delicacies from all over the world were not excluded. The business plan offers financial institutions and any other interested institution with an opportunity to review their mission, vision and strategic focus for future growth and development. This report explains the steps that were taken to carry out a research on how the business was started The business plan explains how the research was carried out by the student to find whether Sea Sweet coffee shop was ranked among the best in the world. The cafe’s concept is built upon the success stories that were told by clients who had dinned or attended the coffee house venues (Joanna 1997).The coffee shop was famous for its affordable yet very good quality of food. The coffee based products and the entertainment facilities were made accessible to the clients who came visiting the café for the first time and to the residents around. The Sea Sweet had already established itself to be a destination of choice for most of the clients and other tourists. The Sea Sweet café also had an extension of a restaurant that had lounging facilities. The organization aimed at offering completely high quality experiences for those who were searching for comfort and great entertainment at the same time (Douglas 2008). The clients had the privileged to taste the very sweet delicacies from the recipes all over the world as they enjoyed coffee, desserts and they were spoilt of choice about what entertainment suited those most. The managers of the coffee shop have their client’s interests in their hearts. They aimed at providing the most sophisticated but very casual dining joints as well as entertainment venues. The customers always enjoyed their visits and kept coming back on many occasions and this was to this added to the sales of the business and hence its growth. The other significant thing that the managers focused on was to provide a great variety of dishes that were not otherwise found in the neighboring cafes and restaurant. This was a competitive strategy that the managers used in order to attract more customers to their business. This in the long run ended up creating large net profits that made the company grow. Methodology When preparing to collect the data it was important that the group members were in agreement about the topic of research and the site where they would visit to carry out the research (Brian 1998). In this case, the students who were studying business management in Cambridge University agreed to have Sea Sweet as their target business under study. The other step involved the members of the group to thoroughly prepare for the trip. The first procedure was to organize for a pre-visit to the site and acquires permission from the relevant authorities concerning the visit. The people in charge should give the correct time and date when the group would be visiting the Business for any prior arrangements that would need to be done. The members of the group should be able to make suggestions concerning any other sources of references in case one plan failed to work. This would serve to make the whole process of the research even more manageable. The other step would be for the members of the group, gathering all the available resources that they would need to use in the research. The main aim would be to avoid waiting a lot of time when looking for a resource especially during the processes itself as this can bring about loss of data or even failure to tackle the areas of interest. Once the group members arrive in the site, they would divide themselves into specific divisions and then handle the set areas of study. Some of the topics they would cover would be management of the business, services offered by the shop, the ratings for every service available, marketing strategies and also the quality of their services and goods and many others depending on what they would have agreed on. The students would mainly use interviews and questionnaires to gather the information. They would then record their findings in their notebooks for reference. Once they were back in their stations, they would hold a representation so that all the groups would be able to compare what other groups collected. This information would then be represented, graphically, using tables and charts for analyzing (Joanna 1997). This would enable the learners to draw conclusions concerning the data they have collected. Research site The Sea Sweet coffee shop was the company that was under study and it was located at 358 church streets in Parramatta. It was designed by the best known architectural firm of Richard Rauh & Associates in Parramatta. The facility was divided equally between the café and the coffeehouse where in most cases entertainment was held. The restaurant was well organized and had a flexible indoor that could hold very many patrons as well as the outdoor partition that was mostly used for rest. The coffee shop also had a section that was a full section of service bar and a small place for little entertainment (Brian 1998). The coffee shop only maintained a space enough to serve small numbers of clients at a time. The site had a lovely water flow which was a great tourism attraction its clients which served to increase business. Research findings and Analysis Findings: From the data that was collected in the research, a number of facts were noticed and were proved to lead to great business growth and development. The findings were collected from the groups as follows: Products: The coffee shop mainly featured brewed coffee, espresso beverages, fruit cakes, juices and other dessert delicacies. It was reported that the prices of these products were moderate. The menu prices ranged from $7 to 25 $ which was quite affordable and accommodating for all groups of people. General dishes were also available with their varying tastes. This attracts tourists visiting the country and as such increasing productivity rate of the coffee shop and skills of the employees are improved. The magazines and the newspapers were always available to the customers as they indulged themselves on the variety of dishes and sweets available. The entertainment sessions also brought in a substantial amount of income to the business since the cultural shows were incorporated thus attracting many tourists and locals. Competitive comparison: When the Sea Sweet Coffee House was compared to the other cafes and entertainments joints, it remained the best. The managers kept aiming higher to ensure that they kept providing better services than their neighbors so as to encourage more customers to come and enjoy themselves. Its location was also one that made the business grow since it was easily accessible. The restaurant is a 70 to 150 seat restaurant that even has outdoor seating hence most of the other companies’ hotels cannot reach this stage. From the research that was carried out by the groups, there were able to notice a trend in the sales, gross margins and the net profit of the business for the first three years after the opening of the business. (Brian 1998) Analysis From the findings above, it became clear that more people in the county are opting to eat outdoor and the restaurant market has in turn the revenue is increasing by 5% yearly. It was also noted that the women have joined the workforce hence less cooking at their homes (Douglas 2008). This meant that the dollars that were spent away from home rose by 20%. In most families the man and the woman were both income earners and they really did not have time for each other not to mention time to fix a meal. Food services have continually risen and this explains the increase in the casual and full service restaurant in Sea Sweet coffee shop. Discussion This analysis showed that the main keys to the successes of the Sea Sweet Coffee shop was mainly because of the following factors: The quality of the products that included the coffee-based beverages.th e foods, entertainment and the magazines were of high value and quality. The employees were emphasized to work as a team and to show a lot of hospitality to the guest who came in. The patrons and other visitors were treated with uttermost respect and this made them want to come back to the same café. The marketing strategies of the business were excellent. Since the business was located at a very strategic place (Joanna 1997), the managing staff took advantage of this to be able to capture the attention of most of the tourists who were jetting into the country as well as the domestic tourists. The managing staff had done an excellent job to ensure the business was always on the right track. They were well informed of the sales of the foods, beverages and they took account of every detail to avoid instances where the business had to use up the capital but was rather supposed to use the profit. The labor costs were also well accounted for so that they did not exceed the overall profit. There was very good inventory of the employees and they were expected to deliver nothing short of perfect. Conclusion For any business to grow, proper management is important as well as good marketing skills that will be used to make it shine among its competitors (Joanna 1997). The managers and their workers should work with their employees as a team to be able to bring about maximum growth in the business. This will also enhance decision making processes in the coffee shop hence improved operations. Recommendations From the above report, it would be advisable if the business managers and the stakeholders worked to improve the coffee shop with the same force as they did with the restaurant so that they can strike a balance for both sectors hence bring about great growth.
