The business operates manually in relation to costing, sales and customer relationship, inventory, warehousing, accounting, and equipment maintenance. The company still uses an obsolete system for hiring and sales.

It also operates offline on hire bookings and payments. It cannot accommodate complex costing for large and long-term hires as they are currently working on spreadsheets. The business information system needs The company will need to move from the "MIS" applications which only provided information on inventories, sales, and other data requisite in enterprise management. The new systems that the company requires are the;   resource management  and  human resource management, enterprise performance management  (EPM), decision support systems,   enterprise resource planning  (ERP),   project management,   supply chain management  (SCM),   database retrieval applications, and customer relationship management  (CRM). Recommended information systems and how these will meet business requirements Supply chain management  (SCM)  systems allow for efficient supply chain management by integrating the connections in a supply chain.

This will involve suppliers, retailers, final customers, and manufacturers. Customer relationship management  (CRM)  systems allow businesses to manage relationships with current and potential customers, business partners throughout the sales, marketing and service levels. Knowledge management  system (KMS)  will aid EquiHire to facilitate the collection, organization, recording, dissemination, and retrieval of knowledge. This comprises documents, practices, unrecorded procedures, accounting records, and skills. Management information systems (MIS), provides fixed, constant scheduled reports based on data summarized and extracted from the company’ s fundamental  transaction processing systems.

The operational and middle-level managers can identify and inform semi-structured and structured decision problems. Decision Support Systems  (DSS)  will assist the middle management of EquipHire to compile information from various sources to support decision making and problem-solving. Materials Resource Planning  (MRP)  is used to track expenditure on materials, costing and development of bill of quantities. This will help in tracking the materials procured and those that have been used. This can also allow for the maintenance of existing plants and tools. Inventory Management Systems  (IMS)  are fundamentally Management Information Systems meant to particularly manage the  inventory aspects of the business such as reorder levels, bundling and tracking. Human Resource Information Systems  (HRIS)  support communication and productivity in Human resource through selection, recruitment, training, and motivation. Accounting Information Management Systems  (SIMS) cover accounts administration, and often including payroll Billing for invoices to customers or clients, inventory/ Stock for effective control of its inventory, purchase order for orders inventory, a sales order for recording supply of inventory for customer orders, and bookkeeping for records payment and collection among others.
