The position also aims at collaborating with other departments, consultants, medical professions, and organizations, including advocacy groups and government agencies, to support and develop coordinate resident care, connected administrative roles, and to represent the interests of the facility. 2.2 Required competencies and scope of practice standards for identified specialty Director of Nursing Services is responsible for the provision of quality nursing care at all time to the residents of that region in accordance with State, federal and Local Standards and regulations. The position will spearhead development of nursing objectives, procedures and policies as well as direct the implementation of these objectives. The patients who are in rehab will receive an impeccable service from the leadership of this position, this is because the position will recommend in-service educational programs that is entailed to take care the needs of the rehabilitated patients. 2.3 Specialty knowledge required for implementation of the role of the master’s prepared nurse across healthcare settings. Master’s Prepared Nurse provide the healthcare environment with personnel that have requisite knowledge and skills to promote health, capacity to position the health delivery system, and develop values like social justice through policy formulation and advocacy. In order for the nurse to spear head a health delivery system and incorporate the necessary skills, the nurse should understand political determinants that affect such change. Involvement of a nurse in policy debates brings out professional value that to bear on the process (Warner, 2003). Master’s Prepared Nurses can use their political y competence and to develop the health results of populations and progress the quality of the healthcare delivery system. Master’s Prepared Nurse enables the graduate to: 1. Evaluate how policies impact the structure and financing of health care, practice and health outcomes. 2. Participate in the change and implementation of institutional, state, local and federal policy. 3. Analyze the outcomes of regulatory and legal processes on nursing practice, healthcare delivery and results 4. Equip the policy makers and stakeholders with interpreted research in a nursing perspective. 5. They are capable of advocating for policies that will improve the public health and nursing as a profession. 2.4 Type of facility The person holding this position can work in any federal, state or local owned facility. The facility should also be registered with provision of skilled, intermediate and shelter care to the patients, it can also provide adult day care. Since the facility will be so much specialized in rehabilitation services, psychiatrists and psychologists personnel should be in plenty to give rehabilitation patients professional counseling. 2.5 Department within which the position would be located The department within which the position would be located is department of nursing within that medical facility. 2.6 Reporting relationships The occupant of this position is supposed to report to the Nursing home Administrator, Director of clinical services and Director of operations. 2.7 Primary responsibilities Director of Nursing is responsible for the hiring and recruitment of both non-licensed and licensed personnel. The position will oversight the job performance of the nursing staff in the department of rehabilitation, enhance that the performances of the departments are evaluated, ensure that the performance of assistant Director of Nursing Services are evaluate, the positon has also the power to recommend employee promotion and termination to the Nursing Home Administrator. It will also the responsibility of the position to make sure that nursing services’ demand are met within that region to satisfy the residents. 2.8 Educational, professional, and other types of experiences required for the position Director of Nursing requires that the person should be registered, which require either an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN), bachelor of science in Nursing or any other similar diploma recognized by American Nurses Association (ASA). It is also a requirement that director of nursing should take and pass the National Council Licensure Examinations for Registered Nursing (NCLEX-RN), though the licensure may vary across different states. Holders of Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) are enriched with the necessary skills and Knowledge to handle contemporary directorial services of nursing. Master’s Prepared Nurse will have a scholastic focus since this programs entails communication and critical thinking and leadership training. Due to this American Association of Colleges of Nursing highly recommend Master’s Prepared Nurse for such positions. The position also requires the person to demonstrate a high level of communication skills, knowledge of lasting care management, budgeting, census development, personnel management and adequate knowledge in policies and procedures of nursing sphere. The challenges in the nursing and health care requires transformation of service delivery through a new conceptualization of master’s education. I believe that my qualification as a master’s prepared nurse has equipped my to handle the challenges and current and future complexities of health care delivery as the new director of Nursing for Long term care & Rehab facility. 3.2 Servicesto be provided Providing an advanced, social model of care while encouraging resident choice. Planning, developing, organizing and directing the different operations of the nursing department in compliance with the set laws that guide the recovery health center, rehabilitation center and the long term care facility. Developing updated policies that direct daily activities and operations in in the facility. Selection and assignment of competent personnel to implementation and administration of care plan reviews and resident care plans. Evaluation of the health care needs of the patients. Development of approaches for proper coordination of nursing services with the residents services to enhance optimum coordination of care. Take part in the inspections and surveys for the facility as directed by authorized agencies. 3.3 Benefits to the organization A Master’s Prepared Nurseas the director for nursing has a lot of significant benefits to offer to Long term care & Rehab facility. A Master’s Prepared Nurse directing the nurses will solve future sustainability concerns such as cost-effective approaches of running the facility, care coordination, effective facilitation of long term care, sustainable solutions to most of the care challenges, enhance accessibility and affordability or care services through innovation, and promotion of inter-professional interaction for provision of properly coordinated services in the facilities or institutions involved. Part III (B): Unique Attributes The professional, community, or healthcare organizations that may serve as potential markets for this new service include hospitals, clinics, care facilities, rehabilitation centers, and centers for the elderly as well as institutions for the disabled persons. Master’s education equips nurses with flexible leadership and enhancement of vital contribution in the effective provision of care services. This position has potential benefits in the promotion of health, elevation of provision of care and enhancement of change in care service delivery. Other than the educational qualifications and competence in care provision, this position requires the director of nurses to possess special skills such as excellent interpersonal skills, communication skills, conflict resolution skills, team player as well as the ability to deal with emotionally charged situation. The position of the director of nurses is different from other healthcare professionals. This is because the position combines the leadership roles of the director with practical roles of providing direct services to the clients or the patients.
