The paper “Good Leadership Enhances the Success of an Organization" is an impressive example of a case study on management. The success of any organization depends almost entirely on the type of leadership employed. It is good management as well as good decisions made by a leader that other members of an organization get motivated and work towards achieving the set goals. It is also evident that only visionary leaders enhance the achievement of an organization’s vision.A visionary leader is a person who adapts to various circumstances in a working environment as well as explains to others the essence of taking specific steps in ensuring the achievement of the future goals (Wren, 2013 page 401, paragraph 2, Lines 11-13).

Visionary leadership involves understanding as well as behaving in a way that will make a vision appear real to other people (Wren, 2013 page 402, paragraph 1, Lines 10-13). It also involves incorporating many people’s dreams and biases in making a decision. As a leader, Susan believes it is good to incorporate every persons’ ideas in coming up with amicable decisions concerning some pressing issues. This is evidenced by her quest for all board members to participate in generating a school vision.

She did not like the way Helen and other board members considered her views. According to her, collective thinking that is a community value is very elemental in enhancing the success of any activity (“The Principal’s Vision” page 221, Lines 4-6).The practice of democracy is often associated with loss of professionalism. In most occasions, the giving of people the chance of airing out their views as well as making decisions on certain matters may lead to the results that were not intended as much as professionalism is concerned.

Additionally, the practice of democracy delays decision-making in addition to allowing leaders to have avenues for their professionalism failures. This also evidenced by the conflict between Susan and Helen. According to Helen, Susan is obliged to provide a vision statement for the running of the school because it is part of her profession. On the other hand, Susan believes it is important for all members to participate in coming up with a school vision. From the case, one can deduce that the conflict between professionalism and democracy result in loss of time as well as a crop of disagreement (“The Principal’s Vision” page 222, Lines 13-19).

A school principal plays a very significant role in the building as well as enhancing the success of a school vision. Among his roles include identifying as well as articulating a vision. As a leader, the principal is supposed to know where his or her school is supposed to be in the future. He or she should also encourage the acceptance of the board’s goals. As a result of this, the school principal should allow the participation of other people in drafting a school’s vision. It is the responsibility of the principal to oversee the school’s performance.

In doing this, he or she manages to monitor the progress of the set goals aimed at a specific vision. Additionally, the school principal should advocate good communication in school (Wren, 2013 page 460, paragraph 1, Lines 1-2) along coming up with performance expectations. It is through the performance expectations that the principal will manage to come up with a school’s vision. As outlined in the case, the committee members grant Susan the opportunity of exploiting her potentials. She is entitled to carrying out what she thinks is right according to her professionalism.

This is evidenced by the fact that every committee's member is in agreement with any decision she will make. It is also evident that the committee members will neither question nor monitor strictly the roles played by Susan, and as a result of this, she can make decisions without fearing the occasional questionings from the committees. Additionally, the committee members believe in her as a visionary leader. As a result of this, she has the opportunity of employing the complement in her decision making in order to enhance the success of the district and new middle school.

In summary, good leadership enhances the success of a given organization. Such leadership is often associated with visionary leaders. A visionary leader is a person that assists an organization in meeting future goals. In most occasions, a visionary leader is given the responsibility of deciding on which steps to take in order to achieve the set goal. However, there are some visionary leaders who value the participation of other members in coming up with a vision. Unfortunately, such democratic involvement of other people in decision making affects professionalism.
