The topic reads, “Understanding Organizational Culture and Leadership-Enhance Efficiency and Productivity” which is an integral part towards understanding Organizational Behavior Management and the advancement of Organizational Effectiveness. The organizational culture is part of organizational behavior management that elaborates how different organizations carry out their functions according to their culture. Organizational behavior management is a strategic goal that is carried on or accomplished through the organizational culture that defines how the various tasks in the organization are achieved. Advancement of organizational effectiveness is covered in the part of the topic that talks about ‘Enhance Efficiency and Productivity’. The organization can be more productive and efficient if only it sticks to the strong values of its culture that enhances teamwork and thoroughness. Organizational effectiveness can be realized if the organization is efficiently productive. Therefore the topic of this article is crucial to the understanding of Organizational Behavior Management and advancement of Organizational Effectiveness particularly in the United Arab Emirates where there is stiff competition to increase productivity through efficient productivity. For the development of the basics of management principle in UAE the article is a very important tool that will give guidelines to the sector. The Flow of Introduction The introduction of this article commences by giving various descriptions of leadership and its function. Leadership is important in the maintenance and codifying the vision, purpose and vision of the organization. The leaders must live exemplary demonstration the elements of culture that include behaviors, values, actions and measures. Values have to be blended by the other elements to give meaning to them. Corporate culture is cultivated gradually through sacrifice. Team learning and actions determine the values of the organization and not through speeches. Leadership has been described as the process through which others are influenced by an individual in the accomplishment of an objective and directing the organization in a manner making it more coherent and cohesive. The process through the leaders influence the organization performance has also been explored. The introduction has also touched the importance of other players like the employees in the shaping the vision of the organization through its culture. Organizational cultures are beyond empty promises and slogans. Employees have to be part of the organizational culture and embrace it with a passion. Examples of major companies that include Sears, IBM, GM, have been given as embracing the importance of having to overcome behavioral and cultural obstacles in order to push for organizational improvement. The process of self selection is credited for minimizing the degree of mismatches among the people who are newly hired. Every step that is made in the company is tied to a strategic objective achieved or company value demonstrated and the leaders are to steer the company to new heights conforming to its values. A hint to problems and conflicts is also made Corporate culture is defined as a system based on the values and norms of the company, and the organizational behaviors such as strategies, technologies, appearances, services and products. Organizational change effort failure has been attributed to lack of understanding about the strong role of culture in organizations. The problem of the Statement The statement of the problem has been briefly done in the last paragraph of the introductory part of the article. It has captured the importance of understanding organizational culture and its influence on human behavior in organizations. There is a good flow from the introduction linking it to the statement of the problem. The Review of Literature The review of literature stretches from 1970 to 2008 which is fairly up-to-date. It is comprehensive. In the introduction part, ‘Peer Reviewed Work’, covers from 1985 to 2008. The leaders attribute being applied in carrying out in the organization process has been obtained from the works of Sternberg (1985).The role and the functions of the leaders has also been extracted from his work. The role of the employees in judging every management decision to reward, hire, fire and promote colleagues is the latest work obtained from the works of Fathi El Nadi (2008). The article has used up to more than forty sources which is comprehensive enough in discussed the chosen topic. Then sources are from 1970s, 1980s, 1990s and the latest being that of 2008. The various materials from different writers and researchers give the article a dynamic and complex touch. The writer has touched on the various aspect of management by reviewing these various literatures. High performance expectation that is unreasonably, competitive behavior taken to an unethical degree becomes the norm for various Enron managers and employees. The culture can be expressed through the organization’s myths, legends, heroes, rituals, jargons and rites. Corporate culture has been pointed out as a key component in the attainment of the strategies and mission of the organization. The Strengths and Weaknesses of the Article The strengths of the article lie in the way leadership has been used to demonstrate how the organization culture is achieved. The writer has consulted published work of up to more than forty sources, this shows that he went to great lengths to research about the topic and come up with a piece of work that is convincingly comprehensive. The type of citation that has been used is the Harvard style which is simple and does not interfere with the readability of the article. The role of leadership in attaining the organization culture has been explained including the other players like the employees who in some cases may be overlooked. The findings of the articles are not generally known and the writer has gone to great lengths to do extensive research on the topic that he chose.
