These systems provide sets of functional features that aid different business modules in uplifting their day-to-day operations.

A business information system entails a set of interconnected software and hardware components that work together in processing, storage, and distribution of information to aid in decision making and performance control in an organization. A number of companies specialize in information system businesses. They are always in touch with all technological innovations taking place in this section of information technology. One of the most common companies that are based on business information systems includes Microsoft limited. The information system used by the Microsoft Company has played an essential role in promoting the company’s success in managing and has power over most competitors in the world’s market place.

This paper analyzes the key features and policies in information systems with key emphasis laid on Microsoft limited. In addition, the company is also involved in the development of several kinds of business information systems such as the Medicaid information system used in hospitals for handling their day-to-day operations (Shelly and Vermaat, 2008).

As a business information system, Microsoft Corporation offers a set of functionalities or information systems that aid the management and related users in the smooth running of its business activities. These features include a mechanism whereby all staff members enjoy the system’s flexibility in conducting transactions both on online-based modules and on Microsoft stand-alone modules. The transaction processing systems play an essential role in carrying out daily business activities such as online sales of products and record all details in the database. Whenever transactions are done, management heads can have a bird’s eye view of all those details.

To facilitate its operations, the company makes use of other information systems, which include a decision support system. Microsoft Corporation’s decision support system is a vital tool in aiding management, staff, and clients all over the globe. In all business operations done at the company, this system has been greatly simplifying the decision-making process resulting in high-quality business output (Banabakova and Panev, 2011).
