Portfolio Name Course Instructor Date The organization is made up of many components. The stakeholders that make up an organization differ depending on the core responsibilities of the organization. This essay contains some of the most essential elements that happen to be part of everyday management of an organization. This runs from the top level management to the least of the employees. Every organization is established with a specific purpose. Nevertheless, there are uniform ways through which some procedures are undertaken in the organization. This article touches on some of the engagements that take place in most of the organizations. One of the activities that are highlighted in this essay is the issue of team work. This is an issue that ought to be dealt with carefully since it affects all organization. The productivity of teams in organizations is critical to the overall success of the organization. One of the fruits of group is the synergy that is created based on the individual contributions of all members. In a highly motivated group, the organization benefits diversely from the overwhelming ideas that streams from the group. Another aspect that has been tackled in this essay relates to specific approaches to be used in handling activities of the team. One of them is how to handle team meetings. Meetings are part of any organizations and therefore an understanding of how well they ought to be handled is expected. In relation to issue of meetings, another issue that has been dealt with concerns making presentations. The information provided in this essay plus other sources are going to be used to provide a comprehensive coverage of these critical activities that take place in many organizations. Effective team working encompasses a number of activities. This has to flow from the leader of the team to other members in the group. Effective team working is a precursor for establishing successful developmental goals. The aspects that define effective communication in a team are quite diversified. One of the requirements that mark effective team working is commitment of every member. The group is in need of the contribution of each individual. This is what is required to yield synergy that makes teams more productive than individual output (Levi 2010, p. 95). Next to that, a successful teamwork requires clearly shared goals and roles. This is one way of ensuring that the specific responsibilities of the members of the group are undertaken appropriately. Division of roles of responsibilities in a group setting reduces conflicts whose effect is leading to failure to meet objectives in the group. Setting of goals of the group allows for assessment of the effectiveness of the group. Another feature of an effective team working is effective communication (Engleberg & Wynn 2012, p. 45). Healthy communication in the team facilitates fruitful discussions in the group. It creates an environment where every member in the group can freely share ideas. Therefore, effective communication is very critical in influencing the kind of discussions to be undertaken. All these elements that have been highlighted in the context of groups work in interconnected manner. The fruits of teamwork can only be felt if the various aspects have been adhered to in a way that will act as the goodwill to the group. From this particular essay, the number of items that constitute a successful teamwork are unlimited. They may vary in intensity and many other features, but they are all critical in the process of ensuring a successful teamwork. Our team had an awesome experience throughout. This statement is not aimed at eliminating the fact that we had some challenges that we were to overcome in order to reach specific heights. Nevertheless, the fact that we were in a position to ride much higher above those challenges is incredible. One sign that cohesiveness was maintained is in the fact that most of the objectives were achieved within the set time-frame. This is quite commendable. There are many aspects of effective teamwork that can be directly pointed out from the way in which we conducted our teamwork. One of the most pronounced aspects was communication. The fact that we achieved effective communication was surely the epitome of our success in the group. It was surely amazing how individuals differed in the group. There was high-level of tolerance whenever issues were being discussed. The use of polite words to disagree was used throughout the session. It came a time where all members were at peace participating in every discussion in the group. This is to say that effective communication was used as tool to create a conducive environment where every individual could easily participate. Another success factor in the group was founded in the clear sharing of roles. At the beginning of the session, the team leader apportioned specific tasks to different people within the group in order to ensure conflicts are appropriately managed. This worked out very well. As a result, we experienced less conflicts relating to performance throughout the session. From the manner in which we were able to handle our differences and diversity, it is quite clear that leadership played a significant role. In contrary, this is what many groups lacked all through. The poor conflict management exhibited in other groups is a sign of poor leadership. Presentation skills are a necessity to all people in an organization. Managing presentations is necessary if one wants to ensure that the message is effectively communicated. Presentations come with their own challenges. This ranges from the issues of nervousness to the ability to attract the attention of the audience and effectively communicate the desired message (Goldman 1996, p.114). One of the features of effective presentation is the ability to attract the audience. Anything that the presenter will use to make sure that the audience is still interested in listening to him is an indication of successful presentation. Any time the audience lose touch with the presenter and his message, they are likely to doss of. This is a sign of boredom brought about by the manner in which the presenter is making his point. Another indicator of effective presentation lies in the ability to inculcate facial and body expression in the presentation (Benson 2009, p. 155). The use of facial and body expression brings out passion and emotion in the message being delivered. The presenter is felt better when he uses body language to communicate. The audience is more likely to get in touch with the body expressions than the audio expression. Therefore, a successful presenter is the one who has the ability to effectively fuse body language with audio expressions to make the points being delivered somehow weightier. Moreover, a good presentation ought to have a clear structure. This structure is from introduction, body to conclusion. In dividing the presentation into the above structure, the presenter must understand the tone of the language to be used to ensure that he moves with the entire audience in the same direction. It ensures that the audience do not get lost on the way. At the end of it, one will realize that having a great presentation is solely on the presenter. This varies from preparation to the real presentation. The nature of the work that we were carrying out in the group allowed us to have presentations all through. The regular reports we were presenting were done in a formal manner. In as much as these presentations were done at a lower level, they carried almost the same purpose as other huge presentations. In our case, it was a small number of people to whom these presentations were being addressed. Through these presentations, it is worth noting that we were able to learn a lot. From the analysis of the features of effective communication, I realize that we did not manage to perfect all aspects that define good presentation. Nevertheless, there are a number of items that were familiar in presentations of most members of our team. One of the facets that was evident in the presentations by most of our members was the use of body expression. From what I saw, many people had fully mastered the issue of body language in their presentations. Everyone could see how they bring out their various points in manner that not only interested the audience, but kept them attentive throughout the presentation. This was one of the tools that were effectively used in those presentations. Another aspect that most members tried so much to follow relates to preparation and structuring of the presentations. Most people took their time before making presentation to make sure that the presentation did not miss on its purpose. When all is said, there are a number of ways through which we can better our future presentations as a team. When it comes to delivery, most members of the team were struggling to maintain an eye contact with most of the audience. This lowered the quality of most of the presentations (Stewart, Manz & Sims 1998, p. 167). Next time, we look forward to improving on this aspect in order to improve our overall team performance. There is a very close relationship between the PPD1 activities and the general requirements of my course at the University of Greenwich. It sounds like most of the activities that we undertook were a preparation for most of the requirements in the entire. Just to cite an example, the issue of presentation defines almost all the subjects we will be undertaking. In almost every subject, there is that part of assessment that requires the student to write a term paper and at the end of it makes a presentation before the class. These marks are included in the final tally that determines the grade that the student will be awarded. At the same time, having realized that these skills will be essential in my coursework throughout, it requires careful attention to every detail that is taught at this level. This is to ensure that I do not struggle later on trying to master the concepts that I would have mastered long ago. In relation to the working of PPD1, it is good to appreciate that it is a wonderful tool to every student at the university. Nevertheless, improvements on this tool will improve its effectiveness to the advantage of the students. One way of achieving effectiveness of PPDI is widening its scope of coverage. The tool should be widened in terms of the areas tackled to ensure that more aspects are handles. This portfolio provides a platform where students can carry out personal assessment of their progress in various activities of their learning. This mission can be achieved more fruitfully by expanding the key assessment areas. There is surely a lot that has been learnt in from this essay. Most of the issues that have been raised are those that we interact with quite frequently. The many things learnt from this essay are useful to students at all levels of learning. This is because the essay has been used to provide an analysis of many aspects that happen not only in teams, but also to the corporate world. Therefore, this essay was more of enlightenment on a number of issues. It helps the student to understand some of these issues better because many have already associated with them before. The main issues that have been dealt with in this essay include working in groups and making presentations. In as much as there are many other factors that have been discussed, the main points surround the issue of working in groups and making of presentations. The two main issues that have been dealt with in this essay are quite interrelated. The manner in which the two aspects operate indicates how they are associated. All the two aspects reflect what happens in the real organizations. These aspects work together to ensure that the various objectives in the team are achieved. In conclusion, this essay has proven to be very resourceful in relation to the nature of information that is contained. The information provides the basis over which the students will be able to deal with situations of this kind in the future. This is what makes the activity significant to all students.
