Adelaide Convention Assessment Name: Institution: Adelaide Convention Assessment Introduction The International Nuclear Physics Adelaide 2016 (INPC2016) is an event that involved the presentation of different scientific innovations in the area of nuclear energy and physics (Airiau et al. 2016). The objective of the event was to present different forms of studies that have been conducted and considered suitable for application in nuclear energy and physics. This paper presents an assessment of the event in terms of various characteristics that enabled its objectives to be achieved. Concept The concept of the event has been effectively explained in terms of the activities that took place during the International Nuclear Physics Adelaide Conference (INPC2016) in September 11th to 16th 2016. The Convention clearly described its objectives such as the actual areas of focus during presentations of the latest developments in nuclear use (Diesendorf 2016). The idea of the scope of INPC2016 has been effectively represented in terms of the venue and sponsorships as well as the environment in Adelaide in which it was held. The organizers of the event have been described as the Center for the Subatomic Structure of Matter at the University of Adelaide while the duration of the conference was also stated to be 5 days of presentations during the conference, with plenary sessions during morning hours and parallel sessions during afternoons (Greer et al. 2016). Before the commencement of the conference, the starting times and the sequence of activities to take place were announced and publicized. The organizers also ensured they found hotels and rooms that would be used to accommodate delegates. Procedures of the Event A part from the Adelaide INPC2016, there are similar events that have occurred in the past in terms of the schedule of activities and the charges for entry. Similar facilities have been used to provide services who participate in presentations of new technologies in energy development (Khan et al. 2016). There is also a general trend in which facilities have been used to perform different functions at the conference such as the order of making presentation and the sitting arrangements for the attendants. The role of the event organizers during the event have also been effectively illustrated in terms of management of processes and the provision of the necessary equipment to enable the presenters of different topics deliver their messages to the audience. The organizations that commonly attend the event have been adequately explained and the roles they have played in enabling its success such as the provision of sponsorships have also been effectively illustrated. Target Market The suitability of the event for the target market has been effectively presented so that the relevant individuals and organizations can attend and get more knowledge on recent developments in nuclear energy and physics for their benefits. For instance, it explains the manner in which the target market can use different forms of nuclear technologies in improving their efficiency in energy use for consumption and industrial objectives (Lesage and Van de Graaf 2016). This ensures the target customers become more willing to attend the event in future as well as know the areas where the presentations can be applied to address their life needs. The Youth Leading Councils constituted an important element of the target market because they were provided with more skills on how to participate in community activities aimed at improving the use of different nuclear technologies to improve their quality of living (Olszewski 2016). For instance, the event was suitable to them in understanding the methods in which they can integrate different forms of innovations in nuclear technology and energy to contribute to the energy needs of the people in remote locations in their neighborhoods. The relevance of the event to scientists and researchers was its role in contributing to an important area of expanding their research in activities such as the safety measures against heat waves and modeling the methods of improving the overall effectiveness of protection of the community from fires or other calamities (Pang, Liu and Zhou 2016). Their findings of the Adelaide INPC2016 conference held in September can be recommended for use by energy companies or other organizations involved in the conservation and use of nuclear energy to improve their practices. The event has also effectively illustrated the exhibitors that will be involved in the performance of different exhibition activities for the purpose of improving the awareness about safety measures in Australia. Refreshment Products and Hotel Rooms The event has presented the manner in which refreshments were provided to the attendants of the Adelaide INPC2016 by explaining the actual beverages used and the schedule of different types of foods eaten during the convention. For instance, it has illustrated the use of tea and a welcome drink as one of the foods eaten during the convention (Physicists et al. 2016). It has also explained the arrangements that were put in place to ensure comfort of the delegates by booking room allocations in major hotels in Adelaide. The provision of a buffet style of foods also shows that the event organizers had prepared adequately to provide refreshments to the attendants as well as ensure their satisfaction. The process of serving the food to the event attendants was also effective in terms of the ability of the event organizers to enable self-service (Physicists et al. 2016). The fact that little time was allocated for foods and drinks, breaks and drinks also implies that the attendants were not able to overcome boredom or situations where they were fatigued by the presentations. This affected their level of understanding of the actual presentations. Parking Reservations Due to the anticipated high number of delegates during the five-day presentations during the conference, there was adequate planning for the parking area during the Adelaide INPC2016 because it provided the opportunity for the attendants to park their cars or any means of transport in the relevant locations (Sammut 2016). This ensured the comfort of the participants in the event since they were not interrupted by moving vehicles or noise from vehicles that were arriving at the venue. There were also adequate arrangements put in place to ensure a shed was created that prevented the vehicles from the impacts of strong insolation. The fact that charges for parking was small ensured the attendants who came using vehicles were able to incur little cost in parking their vehicles (Varas, Bakich and Peak 2016). It also improved the level of commitment of the event organizers to improve their relations with the attendants by making them feel comfortable. The Effectiveness of Facilities The existing facilities during the Adelaide INPC2016 for presentation on different areas of specialization in nuclear energy were effective despite few limitations that were observed. For instance, there was a general the provision of different forms of utilities that ensured the comfort of participants such as bathrooms which were accessible to all the attendants and bins that enabled then dispose of any materials that were left over after taking refreshments or meals (Airiau et al. 2016). This ensured the seating area was maintained clean and the attendants were allowed to feel comfortable throughout the convention. The level of cleanliness in the manner in which the area of the convention was maintained also resulted into the attainment of specific outcomes that were beneficial to the attendants such as their comfort and their ability to understand the actual presentations that were made. Cleanliness was paramount because it ensured the attendants were not affected by improper housekeeping practices that could result into their uneasiness during listening to the presentations (Diesendorf 2016). It also provided with the presenters of various topics to provide the opportunity to feel comfortable in the manner in which they presented their ideas to the audience. The level of satisfaction and understanding of the concepts presented can be described to have been successful due to improved cleanness and organization of presentation processes which resulted into improved attentiveness of the audience. Network and Connectivity The effectiveness of the five-day presentation at the Adelaide INPC2016 was facilitated by a general improved network and connectivity and the attendants which enabled the attendants to access presentation irrespective of their spatial difference from the podium. For instance, the venue in which the presentations were made was provided with Wi-Fi (Greer et al. 2016). They were also able to browse the internet to access more information regarding the topics being presented. The existence of Wi-Fi promoted their ability to record the topics being presented on their technological gadgets such as iPads and iPhones. It was also possible for the presenters to implement virtual communication methods such as making their topics accessible to users using information sharing methods (Khan et al. 2016). The process of ensuring delegates had a pack containing their name badges during the event and conference apps for the attendants ensured their ease of being identified and improve their event organizers to register them during the event as well as arrange for their seating. Sponsorships During the Adelaide INPC2016, the event organizers recognized the role of different sponsors that enabled its success. For instance, it attributed the role of International Union of Pure and Applied Physics (IUPAP) and other organizations such as AUSHEP, CoEPP, and JLab (Lesage and Van de Graaf 2016). The event also recognized the role of local organizations and voluntary activities of individuals such as those who provided facilities and equipment required to enable the attainment of success of the event. Technical Competence of the Event There are various technical components that ensured different activities during the Adelaide INPC2016 were achieved. The act of providing adequate lighting enabled rehearsal activities to be performed before the actual presentations of different topics in safety measures such as fire fighting services (Olszewski 2016). The preparation for lighting system ensured measures were put in place to prevent interruptions of the actual presentations by testing areas which could result into faultiness. The provision of big screens and audio systems were effective in enabling the delegates view the concepts being presented in various areas of fire safety or community safety management procedures. The screens and projectors were effective in improving visual ability of a large number of attendants. Consequently, it was not necessary to be closer to where the presentations were made in order to understand a particular concept (Pang, Liu and Zhou 2016). The decision of the event managers to put in place temperature control measures ensured the delegates did not experience a sense of congestion that could result into discomfort which could result into their inability to understand or concentrate on the concepts being presented. The decision to increase the temperature inside the hall ensured the delegates were not affected by the effects of Spring on their ability to understand the aspects of the concepts being presented. Safety Precautions during The Event The event organizers of Adelaide INPC2016 put in place adequate safety measures such as risk emergency services that included fire extinguishers that could be used to put out fire in case of an outbreak, first aid box that ensured the participants during the event were provided with first aid in case a person experienced health problem that affected his or her personal health, and the prohibition of smoking which ensured the delegates were not affected by the effects of smoke from cigarettes (Physicists et al. 2016). Safety was also enhanced by improving the likelihood of people being affected by demonstrations of practical experiment by providing guidance to areas which were not allowed to be accessed by the participants. There were also volunteers who enabled the delegates get around the buildings without being subjected to danger, and there were areas that were not allowed to be accessed by those who had taken alcohol (Sammut 2016). This ensured the event took place without any cases of disturbances to the attendants. Usability of the venue For the Conference There are a number of measures that have been put in place to ensure the effectiveness and the usability of the Adelaide INPC2016 such as the expansive environment which ensured more delegates were able to attend the conference (Varas, Bakich and Peak 2016). Usability of the conference venue was also achieved by the existence of accommodation, dining, and leisure activities of delegates. These constitute important requirement for a venue that specializes in the provision of conference services. The usability of the venue for the conference was further improved by the existence of technologies and new buildings that enabled different conference objectives to be achieved within a particular location. Conclusions This paper shows that the Adelaide INPC2016 held in Adelaide was successful in presenting different scientific topics on nuclear energy and physics as well as enabling the delegates to understand their relevance in solving various challenges in domestic and industrial applications. The event was held in an area that allowed many delegates to attend, there were adequate facilities to address the needs of participants while the actual presentation was achieved by the use of big screens and other technologies that ensured the delegates could get the ideas being presented without difficulties. The assessment of the Adelaide INPC2016 shows that it was conducted in a more effective manner to achieve the goal of communicating the latest innovation in nuclear energy and physics to the delegates.
