The paper "Management Communication Process" is an outstanding example of a management assignment. I believe that artefacts and objects play an important role as communication cues. The way an area is decorated and the surroundings define the artefacts. Objects include what is carried in a meeting or event. The type of objects and artefacts in an environment determines the type of communication. For example, in a meeting where everyone has a notebook, it is expected that there will be a lot of note-taking. Mode of dressing determines whether communication will be formal or informal. For example, where everyone is wearing formal clothing, it is highly likely that there will be formal communication. By looking at the form of dressing, it becomes possible to determine the language to use. Body language gives a lot of information on the type of communication to be used. This is especially through observation of the body language used by a speaker in a meeting. For example, in a funeral, the type of communication is different from communication in a wedding. This can be deduced from the attendants’ body language (James, 2012).

1.4.1

This is a 1-1 paragraph response to the first Journal question under module 1.4

When communicating, one has a duty to the audience. The audience expects the communicator to fulfil these responsibilities. The two main responsibilities for a communicator to the audience are being prepared and being ethical. The audience expects that the communicator is prepared based on clarity, concise, punctual and organised. Being organised involves being logical through well-organised communication. Being prepared implies that the communicator is clear. Clarity leads to effective communication and the message is understood. The communicator is expected to be brief and to point where the communication is delivered in a straight forward manner. In addition, conciseness involves sensitivity to time constraints. The second responsibility to the audience is being ethical. It involves doing what is right, being respectful and upholding trust. The communicator is expected to be egalitarian where the communication is given is relevant to all in the audience and using appropriate language and messages. Being ethical involves being respectful and trustworthy. The audience is expected to pay attention to the speaker, ask questions and respond to queries. This is due to the fact that communication is two way and if the audience is irresponsible, there can be no communication. The speech is only a success if the audience is attentive. The audience is expected to be physically and mentally available. The audience is also expected to show respect and have the courtesy (James, 2012).

2.1.1

This is a 1-1 paragraph response to the first Journal question under module 2.1

I strongly believe that thoughts have a great influence on the use of language. This is due to the fact that language is used as a system to create and exchange meanings with one another. The words are used in describing the way one is thinking and feeling. Thoughts are the reference to the language being used. The meaning being communicated is within us and the language acts just as a link to give meaning. Thus, the meaning of the communication is in one's thoughts and determines the language that is to be used. Through the use of language, one shares their thinking to other people. For example, when one wants to communicate on their through about a preference, they will use language that will be best suited to describe their preference (James, 2012).
