Employment for Vision Impaired Name Date Section A Research Problem General disability has become a major problem in the society today especially with the inability of people to access various employment opportunities depending on the type of the disability that their face. Disability has contributed to the rise discrimination in different sectors and even though governments have established measures to ensure that those with disability have the ability to access various employment opportunities with the essential support. However, vision impaired are some of the most disadvantaged groups in the society especially on how they are treated in the employment sector. Visually impaired are hampered by their disability to see which makes it harder for them to execute certain duties (McDonnall, 2010). Their inability to see limits them for using certain equipment's or attend to certain duties which make it difficult for them to access employment opportunities. Furthermore, in most cases, they require support given that they mostly rely on the feeling concept when carrying out their activities. However, various industries have identified the need to include the visual impaired, but they have been hampered by their inability to come up with ways to help the visually impaired to execute different responsibility (Giesen, and Hierholzer, 2016). Visual impaired and people with other significant disability should be provided with employment opportunities, and it is upon the company management to ensure that there are measure in place to facilitate their induction into the team and formulate the way in which they are supposed to execute their duties (Clements, Douglas, and Pavey, 2011). Therefore, it is vital to identify ways in which the visually impaired can be aided in their day to day activities by the company also to make sure that they are well included in day to day running of the company operations which has been a challenge over the years. Failure to see is a major drawback to individuals executing various activities especially in cases where the sense of feeling may not work. It is difficult for visually impaired to access employment opportunities in the medical world where the ability to see is important to make sure that individuals succeed in their working environment (Dibb, 2014). Furthermore, other industries such as engineering and other visual sensitive industries may be unable to create a room where visually impaired can successfully carry out various operations. Even though various initiatives such as the Dialogue in the Dark has been initiated to help in promoting the welfare of the blind, it is still not enough to ensure that they have the necessary access in the employment sector which is needed (Zhou, Smith, Parker, and Griffin-Shirley, 2013). Blind people face significant challenges not only in executing their daily activities but their failure to secure employment needs to be addressed to ensure that they have the necessary support structures to succeed. The inability to visually interact with others makes it difficult for a person to have equal access to various social amenities (Pascolini, and Mariotti, 2011). This has caused the increase in discrimination in terms of accessing employment opportunities given that the employers are unable to use the support structures to aid the blind in executing their daily tasks. Section B Analysis of visually impaired issue The opening of the business by the dialogue in the dark in Australia provides a new dimension in relation to how people approach the visually impaired population and the need to access employment opportunities. The primary initiative of this project is to make sure that those with the visual disability can gain new experiences and in the process. Though the augmented process there is a possibility that individuals can learn how blind people operate when faced with dangers and how they function with the sense of smell which is vital when executing various activities. Furthermore, through this, there is the possibility of learning through the sound, and it is possible to ensure that individuals have the ability to appreciate what other people go through to be able to make sure that they have the right access to employment opportunities. Analysis of Social marketing environment Lack of adequate opportunities in the employment sector is a social problem facing the society today. There are cases where individuals without visual capabilities are considered as unable to execute certain responsibilities a notion that can help Dialogue in the Dark to succeed in Australia. There is a possibility to overcome this social problem if the precise mechanism is in place. It is important to bridge the psychological barrier that limits their understanding on the need to assist and embrace those with disability in the working environment. People with disability often have the ability Upstream There is a need to change policies and regulations in Australia to ensure that those with disability and those in particular with visual disability have the right access to the right employment opportunity. There is a possibility of making sure that policies instituted have the ability to establish policies to ensure that the public and those in employment sector can follow the policies and regulations that have been set (Giesen, and Cavenaugh, 2013). Therefore this requires the involvement of the local authorities and those who have the ability to institute laws to ensure that measures are in place to ensure that visually impaired group is adequately catered for. Middle Stream Middle stream incorporates the teachers, family, and friends to make sure that they embrace various issues surrounding those with visual disability. Family, friends and the teachers should learn to embrace the needs to make sure that they have the ability to embrace and appreciate the hardship the challenges that people face in day to day activities (Colgan, Bopp, Starkoff, and Lieberman, 2016). Downstream This involves the involvement of employees and the coworkers to ensure that there is a need to appreciate their participation in the process. Through this, they should undergo the same process to make sure that they understand the hardship that individuals with visuals disabilities experience. It is important to make sure that those with the ability to see faces these challenges that they face and ensure that they need to appreciate how such individuals should be assisted in the long run (Jang, Yun-Tung, Lin, and Shih, 2013). Health Belief Model (HBM) Health Belief Model (HBM) can be used in this scenario to influence people beliefs on the visual impairment given that it is not a disease and should not be approached as a disease. Blind persons in the workplace can be assisted to navigate various activities with the proper support (Vidourek, King, Rosen, and Fehr, 2015). Besides, the Theory of Reasoned Action (TRA) can also be influential in influencing people behavior and educating them on how they are supposed to handle major issues in the society. Social marketing plan Background Visually impaired individuals often face significant hurdles on their access to major employment opportunities. In the past, the blind has been treated differently thereby limiting their access to employment opportunities Current situation Currently, there is a need to ensure that visually impaired individuals have access to the employment opportunities through the initiative of Dialogue in the Dark. Target marketing The social marketing plan will target employees, families, and friends to educate them on the issue and the reason as to why the issue is of enormous importance Segmentation This will be based on the needs of a particular target group such as employees and families who may perform different roles depending on the identified needs Recommendation Social marketing is the process at which marketing concept can be used to ensure that there are changes in people way of life and as a result, the issue benefits the society in the long run. Therefore, social marketing, in this case, is fundamental given that it helps the community in understanding the needs of visually impaired and what can be done to ensure that their lives improve. Furthermore, the prevalence of the visual impairment has become a major problem in the society today and in the inability to fully integrate the blind people in the employment sector is a major challenge. However, the availability of resources is important given that significant financial resources. It is important to ensure that the parties involved have the resources in place to promote the interaction between the visual impaired and other people to help in sensitizing them on the issue. The marketing objectives, in this case, is to make sure that the company can integrate other people needs and ensure that this venture is a success.
