Organizational leadership Organizational leadership is and will always be a fundamental tool for any firm that aims to prosper globally. It is usually challenging and requires a lot of commitment for the firms to sustain a continuous competition with related parties. In order to improve the firm’s performance, every leader needs to employ the management principles to maintain a good working environment among the stakeholders. This can be accomplished by identifying the essential leadership characteristics that will sustain competition within the organization. Leaders in an organization are guided by being all inclusive in their understanding of their assignments and ensuring there is sharing through effective communication. (Tabora, 2000) Risk management In risk management, the leader has to indentify asses then prioritize the risks. Upon doing so, the resources then applied in an economical way and with coordination in order for a substantial control and minimization of any occurrence or possibility of any impact that may arise (Hubbard & Douglas, 2009). In Coal Black Company the risks are can indentified with the threats arising in the firm. The company is at the threat of losing money as its relationship between them and town is reported to be worsening. This threat exists between customers, shareholders and the bodies for the protection of environment. The risk mitigation measures will be re-assessing the risks raised within the company and then modifying the measures for mitigation by involving all the stakeholders. As the new CEO, I would ensure that all the concerns raised by the neighboring society are addressed. They include contamination of town supply water, attack of the endangered species. In doing so the poor relationship between the company and the society would gradually improve and hence prevent any risk facing the company. Insure IT on the other hand is being faced by a very big risk; the share price has dropped drastically. As a result, the share holders and some key brokers have begun losing confidence with company with some of the brokers threatening to leave the company while some of them have already left. This poses a very big problem to the company. To remedy the situation, as the new CEO my first assignment would be to convene an emergency meeting where different issues facing the company would be addressed. These issues include, winning the public confidence again, filling in the vacant positions by either elevating existing staff or hiring new ones. In doing so I will be able to maintain the existing key brokers as well as winning the shareholders confidence once again which will consequently result to gradual appreciation of the share price Leadership style The act setting direction and making sure that it is adhered to derives the leadership. This depends on the leader’s view and the context of the issue being addressed. The manner in which the direction is provided such as in plan implementation defines the leadership style. The leadership style can be disseminated in ways such as participating, authorizing or by delegating duties. By authorizing, the leader expresses what he or she knows to the employees and the how he wants work done or accomplished without seeking information from anyone. In participation, a leader will involve the employees to make the decision. This comes up as strength to the leader rather than being weakness as if the leader may feel. The fact that the leader does not know everything maintains confidence in the organization as everyone becomes the part of the team. A leadership style by delegation makes the leader responsible in decision making but in turn allows the employees to partly make decision. It applies where employees have a good knowledge of the situation at hand (Tannenbaum & Schmidt, 1973). In Coal Black, the previous leadership was mostly on authoritative style where the Chief Executive Officer ignored the staff expression, as the new CEO would embrace participatory style of leadership which will be more appealing to employees. To accomplish this I would incorporating some of the employees in decision making in determining what and how to deal with issues arising in the mine. Insure IT Company has a very good history of fair ethical behavior towards the staff and the customers. However, some of the problems experienced by the previous leadership would have been evaded if they were keen in involving different stakeholders in their decision making. It would therefore be my mandate to ensure that I act as the role model in terms of embracing participatory leadership style Employer motivation This tool provides the people with the drive or basically the energy to achieve goals. It makes the employees to do what the leaders really know that it must be accomplished. Motivation gives a view that if the leader takes a specific action, it will lead to accomplishment of certain goals. A leader can motivate stakeholders by rewarding them on every good job. Setting a good example makes a leader to be a role model to employees and customers. (U.S. Army Handbook, 1973). In Coal Black, the employers motivation will be achieved first addressing their issues on Occupational Health and Safety by allowing them to be part of decision making. Insure IT Company on the other hand requires that the vacant position of the Workplace Health and Safety Officer be filled with immediate effect. In doing so, I would be guaranteed of good working conditions which in return motivate my workers to do their work satisfactorily Social and environmental Involving the community in discussing the upcoming environmental issues will attract their interest on this plan thus creating an open and trusted bond of communication between them and the company. As the new CEO of Coal Black Company I would involve the authorities under environmental management, and together with the community assess effects of mine discharge on environment. Employees in Insure IT should also need to be included in the process of planning and providing solutions to any problem. This creates a good working environment. Organizational Ethics & Culture Ethics is an essential part of organizational culture and is defined as the discipline involved in doing what is good or bad. For an organizational to be successful, it must focus fully on ethics. Culture on the other hand is the connector between the organizational leadership and the customer’s focus on the business. Professional ethics are the standards that uphold compromise between parties in case of a conflict of interest. I would therefore ensure that Coal Black consider dealing with challenges arising within the community by doing what is right and must follow its policies. In the Insure IT, code of ethical doctrines should be established in building a strong organizational culture (Sean & Rampey, 2006). Management of conflict Conflict in an organization is defined as incompatibilities and differences resulting from any form opposition. To deal with the problems facing Coal Black Company, I would ensure good application of conflict management skills within the community by use of strategies aimed at correcting the perceived differences positively. Dysfunctional conflicts in the Insure IT within the leaders and employees may affect the performance negatively as workers resign and to remedy the situation I would ensure that any conflict arising is handled effectively and the concerns addressed (Borisoff & Victor 1998). Resistance to change According to Brookins (2011), changes must occur in an organization and it is almost impossible to avoid them. Changes occur for a variety of reasons including; new staff roles change in organizational funding, new technology, and a change in vision mission and goals. Changes in Coal Black to address the community concerns may meet opposition and criticism due to the following reasons; poor communication, self interest, lack of trust, some individuals may feel excluded and the new skills to be introduced. To ensure that all the stakeholders embrace change I would encourage meetings where people would make their grievances heard and their concerns addressed. George & James (2008) further explain that, for Insure IT to survive, the management must instill new ways to adapt to the change and give it a new look. The management must identify the root cause of the resistant and whoever is involved. As the new CEO I would strive to give the company a new look by addressing all the issues at hand effectively Exercise of Power and politics and leadership style To make Insure IT more productive, innovative, and responsible, it requires a clear focus on leadership, influence, and power issues. These issues are very critical since they involve team development at the strategic level and managing all the processes in the organization. This would be one of my strategies as the new CEO to remedy the current state of affairs. In Coal Black, gaining support from seniors on addressing environmental pollution may result to personal interest harmful to the organization (NDA 2010). Therefore, I must handle the problems carefully to ensure that it does not escalate to higher levels Executive training and succession Succession management is the preparation for an executive employee by another after prompt resignation or retirement. New employees are hired before the old one leave and training or work shadowing starts. This is lacking in Insure IT, and hence I must ensure that management succession is carried out smoothly and effectively to avoid crisis after one leaves (Career Builders 2008). This also creates a better working environment among the investors. Through their views, the mitigation measures will be put in place in a process that will instill confidence on everyone. The pending archaeological investigation should involve all stakeholders in a representative manner. Conclusion Leadership and management are essential tools in any successful company or organization. Leaders equipped with management principles mould the parties working under them with sufficient strength to achieve the vision, mission, and the purpose of the company.
