This case also describes the strategic issues of the few major hi-fi manufacturers like Linn, Naim, Meridian which are into the business of recording music and Apple which is into distributing music as well. Strategic issues like the market around them change, in particular, the growth of online, digital and portable music sources and the competitive advantages with the companies have been discussed in the case. This case study examines the strategic questions facing such firms and points to the difficulties these firms face in deciding how and where to compete.

Everyone is thriving to get sustainable competitive advantages to survive in the business. Case Analysis The case offers an opportunity to implement a number of strategy models such as the SWOT analysis, generic strategy analysis, value chain analysis and identifying key success factors in the industry. On the basis of all these models, it is vital to identify the competencies required to compete in new areas and the basis of gaining sustainable competitive advantage.
