The paper "Plea to Host Red Cross Blood Drive" is a great example of a business assignment. As the cliché goes, the ‘house’ always wins. Last year we held the extremely successful Toys for Tots drive that made the Pechanga Casino be the envy of all casinos in Temecula, California. We were able to shove aside the public’s negative image towards casinos, as the city’s mayor joined in our efforts. This year we could outdo ourselves further by hosting a Red Cross blood drive. Therefore, I hereby request you to consider Pechanga’s participation in this noble cause.

Statistics from the American Red Cross show that more than 38,000 blood donations are needed every day in the US. During disasters, we all go out and donate but in calmer times only 5 percent of eligible donors think about giving blood. However the need for blood does not vacillate with our disasters. Take the case of Melissa, who underwent her first open-heart surgery as a one-week-old baby. Now five years old, she has used well over 50 units of donated blood, and she would not be alive without them. It is for cases like this that Pechanga Casino would be assisting through the proposed blood drive.

To successfully hold the drive it would be generous of you to consider the provision of the following:

  • An ideal site: the casino slot machines and gaming tables are usually full of people and hundreds of the casino employees are on hand.
  • Bottled water, orange juice and snacks for those who have donated blood.
  • Volunteers to ensure the event is well coordinated. With your consent, my department could do this.

I believe that having such an event occur in our casino will be a privilege in two ways:

  • We shall earn a good reputation within the community.
  • Our staff will benefit from the experience by developing a spirit of generosity.

I hope you find this event worthwhile for implementation.
