d) Three activities to celebrate diversity • Holidays policies- Jobline can come up with ways of recognizing holiday celebrations and time off work e.g. celebrating Muslim holidays together in order to understand the Muslim culture better. • Diversity training: this will help train employee on the importance of appreciating other cultures e.g. Jobline should include diversity training in their training whenever they are recruiting employees for other clients or their organization having that their locality is comprised of people from different ethnic backgrounds • Company leadership: hiring of culturally diverse employees will help create cultural awareness in the organization. Jobline should concentrate on giving junior employees from different ethnic backgrounds an opportunity to lead in order to foster a culturally oriented organization. For example, Robert though being a migrant, he is considered a native so appointing team leaders from other cultures will help create an awareness. e) How Jobline can make better links the Sudanese community and service them appropriately and ensure Jobline values them as their clients Jobline is a diverse organization though serving a local are with a lot of Turkish and Lebanese population they have policies that help them remain diverse and incorporate other cultures. The Sudanese shouldn’t be worried having that Jobline trains its employees on the required skills and knowledge to service clients with a wide range of cultural backgrounds. It’s evident that Jobline treats its clients with the utmost respect and has a culture that does not discriminate against anybody. Jobline manages clients who have specific social needs, intellectual and physical disabilities and therefore it will be prudent to mistreat the Sudanese having that they already have a code of conduct that they follow strictly. Communications barriers may arise, but Jobline has a policy of employing individuals who speak more than four languages. Because it’s a dynamic organization, it will always come up with ways to cater for their diverse clients. Sean having worked with the local community can use his skills of identifying opportunities for the unemployed will go a long way in showing Jobline commitment to fostering their new found partnership with Jobline. By offering them jobs the Sudanese community will try to adapt and get along with the locals and through the employment they will understand how diverse Jobline is. Nada works in an immigration center will be in a position to help the Sudanese blend in more easily having that she is able to speak four languages and has expertise in accommodation and organizing school for children. Sheri being a migrant herself will help in convincing the Sudanese community the importance of joining Jobline and how the financial matters and allowances shall be handles. Gino has expertise in traineeship and apprentice programs will help trainee the Sudanese and having that he loves finding employments for almost everybody he will help the Sudanese acquire jobs through his advice having that he has skills in matching job seekers to employment opportunities. Robert is the team leader and he has seen with Jobline for 8 years he is supportive and enthusiastic and having grown in that vicinity he will provide the support and encouragement needed to make the Sudanese trust them and work with them. f)Presentation. • A good presentation should consider the cultural background of the audience • The language to be used when presenting should be the one understood by all • Understand the demographics of the audience g).Key provisions that may hinder the operations of the business. Anti-discriminations laws are set to protect people from different cultures e.g. setting up a business that requires only specific people from a certain race or culture to shop there is an act of discrimination. Ethical principles help in the smooth running of enterprises and any business that does not follow the codes of ethics affect the smooth running of that business for examples it’s unethical to evade paying taxes. Occupational health and safety measures are paramount for any business having that the customer’s wellbeing should be given preference, therefore, having exit doors, and fire extinguishers is a basic requirement for any business. Businesses are being required to have means of catering for their physically challenged employees. Assessment 2 1. Main problems that need to be addressed a) Illegibility problems. Handwritten orders may contain errors b) Poor coordination between Marco, the supervisor and the manager c) Employees being overworked d) Lack of clear expansion strategies e) Logistical problems f) Packaging problems 2. Best solution to overcome these problems Having that Marco works for a company that distributes spare parts of computers, he should be typing orders instead of handwriting them. Handwritten orders always have problems with legibility, and thus the company should provide Marco with a company so that he can type the orders. Having that he is the primary point of contact any error he makes when writing down or his handwriting not being legible enough will affect the entire distribution channel hence the increase in complaints Solution number two, the management should adapt a good working relationship and environment. For a company to succeed communication and problem-solving is key but in Marco’s case the top management does not seem to care all they need is results. With proper coordination, the top management will be able to identify the problems of the company to avoid further misunderstanding with customers. On overworking employees, the company should consider recruiting more staff to help Marco and the driver. From the case its evident Marco, and the driver are being overworked and always find it hard completing their tasks in time. Therefore recruiting more employee will help solve this problem in that the company can recruit an employee who types the orders and delivery them to the warehouse. Employing an extra driver will also solve logistical problems having that this is a distribution company The organization should have clear expansion strategies to cater for the customers. From the case the management hasn’t been able to come up with strategies to help the company expand. That is why the supervisor and manager don’t seem to be concerned about the general problems affecting the distribution channel or they concerned about is results. A good expansion strategy will help overcome these problems and save the business from collapsing. 3. Who to talk to In this case, both the manager and the immediate supervisor are reluctant on helping Marco solve some of the problems facing the distribution channel. Therefore in order to overcome this problem Marco has to contact the general manager, finance manager and the human resource manager. These three managers can help Marco solve the problems, Marco being a junior employee and despite reporting to his immediate supervisor and manager and nothing is forthcoming then these three managers have a direct impact on the distribution channel and they will be in a position to help. Talking to the general manager will help him understand the need of recruiting more employees and coming up with strategies to deal with any expansions. Talking to the human resource manager will help him or her understand how he and the driver are not being able to finish work in time and the horrible conditions they are working in that have attributed to many complaints from customers e.g. taking orders through phone calls, writing them down and personally taking the orders to the warehouse. The finance manager will be able to set funds aside to cater for the expansion, if this solutions are adapted then a new vehicle has to be bought, computers to type the orders and money to pay for the extra manpower. 4. Information to gather I. Daily orders II. Daily complaints III. Undelivered orders IV. The main cause of the complaints both from the driver and warehouse staff 5. Issues to address In order for his solution implemented effectively, he should address the issue of the workload completed by each employee. Taking minimal orders and typing them down and asking the warehouse department to type them down so that the driver won’t deliver the items to wrong addresses. On logistics, Marco can have the driver deliver few orders to see if packaging problems may arise as before. 6.
